  1. Sorry I’ve just seen Callum O’Dowda compared with David Noble. What a take.
  2. You’re aware that when Nigel Pearson took the City job Alex Scott was a 17 year old with zero football league appearances and Antoine Semenyo was a player with zero goals in forty three Championship games that plenty had written off as not being good enough for this level? To even suggest Pearson was just handed them as the finished articles they were on the day they were sold is wholly disingenuous. I wonder how Liam Manning would have got on inheriting a car crash of a club, with a rotten culture of half arsed unfit players, no style of play, a wage bill that needed slashing to avoid points deductions, imposed austerity measures and a reliance on young, unproven players. Rather than the decent, solid, spirited, athletic, mid table team he actually did inherit. To proudly boast of ‘not being a Pearson fan’ and attempting to make up complete garbage to criticise him shows you can’t have been paying attention. Apologies to everyone for yet another thread being taken off course, but seriously, if people will insist on talking utter shit.
  3. Why is it always the ones you most suspect?
  4. Yeah what an idiot Pearson is ‘losing’ players when budgets are having to be cut drastically to avoid points deductions. If you were following the club at all at the time you’d be aware everyone knew Diedhiou was leaving on a free that summer before Nigel Pearson had even taken the job. You are either on the wind up or just a genuine moron.
  5. I respect each and every one of you that put yourselves through twenty three minutes of listening to Liam Manning speak.
  6. Genuinely incapable of posting without making a show of yourself aren’t you. You must be due a decent one soon, surely.. How the **** does Nigel Pearson take any blame for what happened during the last six months of Diedhiou’s time here? **** me, that might be the worst attempt at finding something to criticise Pearson yet. The ‘mess’ upfront that he apparently created, slightly more difficult when you’re not allowed to spend 5 million on a centre forward isn’t it, includes of course giving a debut to Tommy Conway that under our previous manager used to look a good player. Rather than the shadow of himself he now looks. There are accusations, possibly with some truth, people on this forum keep bringing things back to Nigel Pearson. It would be much easier for this to not be the case if we didn’t have to read utter ******* rubbish attempting to criticise the very good job he did. Absolutely no way anyone in their right mind ever considered Diedhiou ‘universally popular’ either, one of the most highly debated City players, in pubs, at the game, on social media and on this forum that I can ever remember.
  7. Winning a game while having the majority of possession for the first time under this manager would be a start.
  8. You know what, if Lee Johnson had suffered health issues and a few months later there was a thread on here enquiring how he was, I reckon I’d probably be able to stop myself posting what a dreadful football manager I thought he was. But hey, that’s just me.
  9. To be fair in his scintillating cameo against QPR I said to my dad ‘this lad just needs to ‘learn tempo/la pausa’ Really reminded me of Rafa Leao and Vinicius Jr. Good init, the internet. Lots of takes to be digested.
  10. Didn’t Tinnion say at the start of the season that Pearson had promoted him into the first team squad and he now wouldn’t leave that level? ..On loan in the Conference South.
  11. A very amusing 180 degree turn as Brendon McCullum asks for Somerset and Lancashire to play on spinning pitches to aid England’s young spinners. Small problem, last time we had two England spinners and played on pitches that helped them we got called cheats and ended up getting deducted points.
  12. Yeah it can’t just be that James Piercy who unlike you actually dealt with Nigel Pearson was telling the truth can it? Gosh, you’re so clever you’ve seen straight through it. Yeah I for one, can’t think of any other possible reason why a 60 year old with health issues, enough money in the bank and still getting paid by his former employer hasn’t taken another job. Must be that’s he’s an awkward customer.
  13. Good lord, you must be due a readable post soon.
  14. Have enjoyed this theme on here from people looking to criticise Pearson, yet James Piercy when Pearson was sacked described him as ‘an absolute joy to deal with’ who he’ll ‘genuinely miss speaking to’.
  15. I think the criticism of mentality and throwing games away can certainly apply to the game they lost in New Zealand and the first two of The Ashes. I don’t necessarily buy it for the games on this tour though. I think ultimately England haven’t got the players to beat India in these conditions. The fact they’ve been able to match them for parts of matches and even get themselves ahead deserves real credit in my opinion. Winning test matches is hard though, over five (four) days the likelihood is the better team will end up winning. Jaiswal, Bumrah and in this game the three spinners have all been too good and taken the game away from them at different times, I don’t think there’s any disgrace in that. Shouldn’t be overlooked that while India have the three spinners they have, England this morning were relying on Hartley who will be carrying the drinks for Lancashire next season as they’ve signed Nathan Lyon and Bashir who will likely do the same while Leach plays. (I’d actually pick Bashir over Leach at this point, but that’s a different conversation). India are missing some serious players, but it still shouldn’t be taken for granted how well England have done on this tour just to give them a game in my opinion.
  16. Incredible stuff this. Bashir was picked for this tour after 10 first class wickets, now already has 12 test wickets.
  17. Still extremely unlikely, but they’ve got a slight chance that I didn’t think they’d have half an hour ago.
  18. What an absolutely pathetic effort from Chelsea.
  19. Agreed. Easier said than done attacking those spinners on this wicket with the field spread, but didn’t really see how scoring at one an over, knowing that before too long you’ll get a ball with your name on it, was a great plan.
  20. Every time he has spoken in the last 7/8 years he’s managed to say something that makes me dislike him even more, so his silence is absolutely fine by me. I have absolutely no interest in hearing from him or his son.
  21. Your first first-class five for coming in a test match against India must be a pretty unique achievement.
  22. Gets asked whether Manning will come under pressure any time soon.. instantly starts talking about Nigel Pearson.
  23. This is spot on. In many ways Liam Manning, and the tedious dross his teams play, is the perfect manager for Bristol City. So soul destroyingly boring. I’d actually much rather City made me angry, rather than just struggling to care because it’s so dull.
