I was one of the biggest voices in wanting and agreeing that NP should of gone but i have stopped trying to justify my opinion in any posts in the last month or so and have decided to not mention him as it causes too much division, might be wise for others to do the same and just get behind the new manager and leave out the snidey comments  ?

Some people just don't get it?     As I couldn't be MORE behind the new Manager    .....and my comment was far from snidey IMO.      You must surely be aware of the constant criticism   LM has received by a number of posters since he was appointed, forever stating that we are no better off than before NP was dismissed?   I have always taken the stance that comparing his achievements over a period since November   (21 games yesterday)    with NP's two and a half years was misleading and unfair, and that patience and tolerance were needed to allow LM to introduce and adopt a new playing style.  I stated on numerous occasions, that given time, I  felt that LM  would be prove to be a success  and in the long term would prove to be a  major step forward.  But NO, I was told by other posters that we are NO better off, and why was NP dismissed, as we should have stuck with him, and are in the same place as we were under NP anyway?   My remark was aimed at those posters who constantly referred to the "Nothing has Changed"       syndrome, and was meant as a humourous reference to their lack of patience with the new manager.....who has, as i have predicted  on numerous instances started to turn things around.         I  note that i have received around 20 replies to my innocuous aside, I cannot be bothered to read any , other than yours, as i imagine they are of the same kneejerk quality, and completely miss my point?    To finish, if you can be bothered to read......I was a big fan of NP, and felt he was poorly treated by management, but just like you,  I more than adequately have got behind the new manager, and have defended his approach and tactics on this forum many times to his detractor's             I despair sometimes at the over reactions on this site by certain posters, some people need to get a sense of humour, and get off their high horse?   In My Considered Opinion, of course?

I think we might need to be careful with statements like the above.  Nigel spent plenty of time on the training pitches, just that a lot of it was observational, just like Dave Rennie did too.  What Nigel did was let his assistant manager (Fleming) and his coach (Euell) run the sessions themselves.  Nige was a prowler on the perimeter.  He wasn’t there all the time, admittedly.  He liked the players to hear different voices, so that on the occasions where he did speak it meant something.  He said he didn’t want to be in their ears every session.

Blimey......I am not gonna post for a while..........I am fed up with   ongoing pedants analysing every iota, and picking over each semantic meaning.........I think i will stick to reading all of the balanced and constantly logical posts that appear on here on a daily basis?  Ha!   😍

You said having a young coach spending time on the training ground rather than in the office show’s ambition, but as others have pointed out, we had two excellent coaches on the training ground so how does it show ambition?. It’s taking a different approach I accept, but I can’t see how it shows ambition.

For me, trying something new shows ambition.   Ambition is -  "A strong wish to achieve something"               Maybe it will be successful , maybe it will fail?........but the powers that be, decided to try something new and different. .  Like it or Not, and you may consider it foolhardy, but it cannot be denied that it is ambitious?

But you were using him not doing much coaching as a positive for us making a change. You're trying to portray as players wern't being coached and now we've got someone in who will coach them.

When in fact Pearson may have not been hands on with the coaching but he delegated to two excellent coaches who did the coaching whilst he observed, just like Sir Alex did throughout his career.

Of course NP designated 2 coaches to look after the training.  You are misinterpreting what i said.  NP did not spend much time, himself, on the training pitch, that is a fact, and all  that i said.........you are reading something else into my words, just to be contentious.

    Nor did that bloke Ferguson.....

If you want to compare Nigel Pearson With Alex Ferguson that's fine.    I was making the point that NP did barely any coaching, it was not a criticism, merely an observation

What do you think Euell and Fleming were doing, brewing the tea for Nige ? seriously...sat in an office what evidence do you actually have of that ?

Nigel Pearson did practically no coaching...........I never referred to Euell and Fleming.  The subject of my post was Nigel Pearson.  So Please do not make up untruths to suit your own agenda .

I back LM too & hope he is backed himself by SL but seen enough in the 22 yrs of SL reign to know its unlikely to happen. There was no need to change manager, we were heading in the right direction. It was an excuse cos NP called them out.

It's one thing saying you have ambition to your public but another thing to back it up. What evidence do you have of us showing ambition?

It is completely dependent on your POV?   I think NP did a fantastic job of clearing out the deadwood, stabilising our finances and establishing us as a secure Championship club.    I think his dismissal was handled abysmally, and after he had achieved so much,  he deserved to be treated with more respect.   However we will never know if he would have got us promoted, maybe?, maybe not?

The club decided to go in a new direction, with a young coach, who spent his time on the training ground, rather than in the office, I personally can see the long term logic in that, some don't?   Whether you like it or not, that shows ambition.  As to whether it is misguided ambition depends on your outlook.   I think it was a good move, and believe it will succeed in the long run....others would have preferred NP to have remained in the job, and to have been given funds.   I think it was ambitious to appoint a young tracksuit coach.....you do NOT....it is all about opinion?   All we can do is sit back and see what develops, because Nigel is NOT coming back.

They haven't backed up the so called ambition. They never do

LM has been in the job for approximately 14 weeks.  Funds are being released in the summer from the 35 million that has been accrued from transfers out. You either believe we are making progress or you don't, depending on your POV.   The definition of Ambition is: : : - " A desire and a strong wish to be successful"   Whatever your position, it cannot really be denied that WE ARE showing ambition?  Whether that is fulfilled is a different matter?

Personally i support Manning and believe he will, given some time, prove to be successful, and dependent on our Summer signings, I intend to put my money down on us finishing in the Top 6 next season.  That is either blind ambition or foollhardiness?   Ha!!

I dont think theres anyone out there thats watched Max that would say he can be outstanding, however he is too inconsistent and every defender worth their salt will tell you about their keeper is that they have to be reliable and dependable and that comes from consistency from reliability.

Max doesnt have that in his game AT THE MOMENT, hes still young, Im sure he will get there, he wont get there without competition for his place and the experience that fight for the jersey gives him.

So Max making numerous outstanding save"s, doesn't make him outstanding.  OK

You're not the first person to say this, so I'd be interested to hear some possible and sensible names.
I don't keep up on the possible signing thread so I would be genuinely interested .

I know we were linked with Al Hamadi , but he's not proven. Unlikely we will spend near our record , so even if we had say £5m who is there ?

Proven Championship striker, available in January , that wouldn't smash out wages budget = rocking horse shit.

Spot on.  And where is this proven top striker, that no club in their right minds would release in the Jan window, anyway?  Like you, i would love to hear some named candidates?

If you’ve got nothing to hide you should have nothing to worry about

Yeah...........God Bless Freedom!  While i appreciate the need to be vigilant in certain circumstances, this is yet another step to control people and take away their rights.  This kind of action,  alongside Anti protest laws are just another brick in the wall to monitor individuals?  IMO

Agree with this and everything else in the rest of your summary.

I wrote a long reply to explain why I'm doing match reports less often (big away days and everyone is there or it's forgettable and I forget it) and to share my own thoughts, but it all disappeared when East Midlands Rail had its unusual internet meltdown and OTIB wasn't able to save what I wrote.

Suffice to say I thought we were great for large periods, controlled the game well without being defensive. Seemed to get better as Forest stretched the game by tidying up, working the ball around to force Forest to reset and then working it into the final third with quick combinations. Looked the better side.

Massive shift from all and I honestly felt we'd win it second half of extra time and we really should have done - Wells square to Cornick miss, James volley just over, Bell into Wells on the line) and Forest would have had no complaints had we done so. Penalties were always going to be a lottery after that.

Hard to single out any player but Bell and Williams were immense, Bell did not deserve his storyline, and Conway plays with a certain swagger against Premier League teams, his shoulder drop turn and finish was class. Surprised at the criticism of Mehmeti, thought that was one of his best games going at players.

The only player I didn't think was at his maximum was McCrorie but he was up against Gibbs-White and yes he had to counter balance all Mehmeti's freedom. And Cornick feels like someone who will never succeed with us, plenty of honest endeavour but seems to lack the quality where it counts. Poor man's Marley Watkins someone said to me last night.

Finally special word for Nuno. He plays more like a conventional winger than a manager, out on the touchline and so often creeping slowly into the final third. He's done brilliantly well to get through another ninety minutes against us up and down the wing, always in space looking to affect play with his presence.

I think last night he must have been in his actual "technical area" for all of 2 minutes and spent more time on the pitch than some of his players. I'm not sure what the point of fourth officials is. He's literally wearing a dark top and is a metre or two out of his space literally on the wing. I swear we played out from the back to him twice in the first half of ET.

Great write up as usual!   Poor Old Harry!...........he had the opportunity, after all the flak he has taken, to get his name in the headlines, and become a hero not to be forgotten?   But, yet again he failed.....          Sorry Harry....but if this was a reality show, you'd be voted out?   P.S.  Yes, I know, it's mean to pick on him 😝

  13. Just got to see the highlights for the first time,.....superb shot and save from Tommy first half, great snapshot from James, and although Wells maybe, should have done better, so should Cornick from a great Nakhi set up?  We looked excellent.  All i would say about Sam Bell's pen, was that my coach told me years ago, that all keepers want to be a hero in a shoot out, and almost always commit....so put it as hard as possible down the middle?  Still, he's a professional footballer, and i'm not?

I didn’t mean for just this game, although I wasn’t aware of that rule.

In general, the lack of a quality striker is clearly an issue that wasn’t addressed. Conway blows hot and cold, Wells has seen his best years come and go.

Forget about it........it was just about impossible to sign a quality striker in the Jan window.   I believe the players are starting to get the hang of LM'S tactics and how he prefers to play, add a good striker, Max Bird and one or two others and I am looking forward to next season?...........Even a cynic like me, can see good times ahead............?
