He's well off it at the moment - cuts a lonely figure nowadays.

No way do we get £5m for him. He's still learning and will hopefully improve

There is no doubt in my mind that he is quality......but he is young, being played in the wrong role and gets no service.  In the the correct tactical set up he would thrive, I am very Disappointed in LM for persisting with the lone striker formation?  There is nothing wrong with the tactics, it is just that Tommy is just not suited to it?  I do appreciate that LM has little choice, to an extent, so it is now up to him to find a solution during the window, and show us just how tactically aware he is?  We have failed to score against Rooney's (GONE!) Birmingham and a very average Millwall side.............Tommy should NOT  , and i am certain will NOT be sold, but it is now up to our new manager to create a team that plays to TC's strengths.

Those who have been aghast at the NP situation are now justifiably feeling smug. There was no need for the change and now the new manager bounce has finished we have reverted back to what we are, an inconsistent mid table team. I am 60 years into supporting this club, 30 as a season ticket holder and 15 as a season ticket holder with my children so I feel its my team. I might not have billions but a significant amount of my time and money has been invested. No one is interested I know but you can't keep defending this incompetence.

The only thing i would point out is..............NP had 32 months, and quite a few transfer windows, LM has had just under 2 months, and NO transfer   windows.  So a comparison at present is fatuous?  Make like a Jedi....and show a little patience?

Agreed. He said on the radio after he’d only had a few weeks with the players on the grass. It’s been two months now, like many I thought it had started to click but today and Friday would say not, two of the most boring games of football seen in many a year.

It might seem like an easy excuse...........but with a small squad....3 games in 6 days is inevitably going to lower performances?  As much as i love watching football, that amount of physical effort seriously lowers quality, and produces some dire matches?  Too many games, in too short a period, often  fails to give out a lot of entertainment?

This feels slightly premature to me after Scott's played 6 games, especially as Rico Lewis (over year younger than Scott) has featured semi-regularly for Man City, and Levi Colwill (6 months older) is playing consistent for Chelsea, as with Harvey Elliott (4 months older) for Liverpool. Plus, depending on definitions of young player, Saka is still only 22 and probably in contention for best player - young or not.

I'd argue Scott needs to stay fit and keep us his levels for the rest of the season to get to that level. As it stands, he's also (I think) yet to make an England U-21 squad.

He's made an impressive start and, if he keeps it up, he'll certainly be in that "best young English player in the division" discussion but he's yet to have an opportunity to show he can perform consistently in the Premier League over a sustained period.

Maybe i should have qualified my opinion, by stating that they are young players who are NEW to the Premiership?  As the players you have referred to, have all played significantly more games at that level, and are all relatively established at their respective clubs? Saka especially, who is an outstanding talent.

  5. 1 step forwards followed by 2 steps backwards..........we are what we are..........an inconsistent mid table Championship side?  I don't believe we will see any significant progress until next season, and that is ONLY if LM is given a realistic transfer budget?   It is so frustrating when you see so many of our ex-players flourishing at other clubs......and then witness just how impotent our present team look at times?    It continues to be the case, that we languish in a football world where over two games, we take 1 point from Birmingham and Millwall without even scoring a goal?  Where there is life there is hope?,   apparently............but what a very depressing outcome, after the promise of Watford away?  A New Year.....but a same old Bristol City?   PS.  I do also fully appreciate that with the limited resources at our disposal, and the inevitable tiredness after a run of 3 games in 6 days.........it is a frustrating but almost understandable outcome??...........I am just pissed off, i guess, just like the majority at today's game!!   Happy New Year!

I don't especially disagree with you and I agree on the Parking stuff too ie justpark.com etc.

However and yes it's also football wide, but when you have a £35-40m gap in TV revenue for 3 sides, a £39m limit to adhere to (plus an extra £22m in allowable losses for each PL season up to £44m..either £61m, £83m and or £35-40m or £30-35m depending on which year of Parachutes..or £5-10m if a 3rd year), non Parachute clubs are in a very difficult position.

I encourage people to shop around but this is also a factor.

Yep..........I lie awake at night worrying about the poor souls................Ha!

Personally I would rather walk the length of the Portway  or walk from chew magna even at my age than pay for parking , it seems football is becoming a cash cow for anything and everything around the game , wages , tickets , food , drink , parking , merchendise it will sooner or later disappear up its own arse

It's called "TAKING THE PISS"   It is a disgrace the way football  club's exploit every last revenue stream, as they know fans love their club...............so they make sure they take maximum advantage of that, by screwing them for every penny?   It will only get worse!!   Yourparkingspace.co.uk and justpark.com  are not perfect, but at least it is not the fat cats coining it in, but individuals prepared to rent out their driveway for a few hours?  PS There are probably a few more than those 2, but they are the ones i have used in the past successfully...............?

  8. At 20 and 21, IMHO Cole  Palmer and Scotty are the two best young English Players in the Prem at this time?  PS.  I see little Lee's reputation as a coach/manager continue's to plummet, as he was unable to even hold down a job in League 1?

It's the most irritating phrase he uses. Just say ******* ' attitude ' like normal people, rather than using phrases from the coaching manuals.

Sadly as has been mentioned before...it's ingrained in his post match interviews. He has a list of phrases he uses over and over again.

Funnily he actually pulled himself up today after saying it, and said ' we'll probably get bored of hearing that'.

I don't think I've watched one of his interviews yet, without stopping it before the end.

    It's mindless coaching phrases.

I've also noticed he's got that damn annoying inflection in his voice that JL has...sounds like they are being choked.

Can't fault the turn around and the way he's got them playing with results.

But I can't listen to him. Bores and irritates sadly.

Which is annoying for me, as I like to hear decent thought out reactions.

Can't have it all I guess.

    Great result and performance.

He can talk in Sanskrit and howl at the moon..............if he continues to produce results like today?     Merry Xmas to all at OTIB

Perfect in every sense of the word.

Well done BS3...............i am very jealous..........wish i could have been there?    What a Xmas present?

I tend to look at the league table for City (at least) as who are three points above us, who are three points below us…but of allowance when there are games in hand (loses in hand is what I call them!), so….

I was a bit annoyed earlier that Preston beat Leeds, that would’ve knocked them out of my mini-league!

+3 goal difference?   Am i dreaming?...............Oh Hi there Santa?

We will never know what would have happened if NP was still here so not sure how you can say that .

I loved NP, he is,  and will remain a legend at our club. But the time was ripe to bring in a new young forward thinking coach IMHO......and it would appear that cometh the hour..........cometh the man?    I am very impressed with LM, and i believe that if we support him,  and let him build our club................that the sky is the limit?   I am not being, or attempting to be smug?    But come on down you doubters, and admit that at last.........the Lansdowns have made the correct appointment.................at frigging last!!!!!

  14. Getting back  to back wins for the first time in 10 months is an achievement that should be acknowledged, and this against two top 6 opponents?                                  This was performed without any new players, and 5 still out injured?  I was a major supporter of Pearson, but for me the King is dead.........long live the King.  Liam Manning is now hopefully the future of our club, and I will support him, and keep looking forward....and not back.  The Lansdowns have made numerous mistakes in the past.........but for me, their latest appointment is at last, and not before time?......  the correct one.

Think Real Madrid may habe some sort of multiclub model, PSG likewise.

More common by far in Europe though and these are established big clubs both domestically and European..as an English Championship middle ranking club it's quite an issue!

Not so much financially but as a package to be taken on.

I guess the Lansdowns are trying to punch above their weight.........hope it doesn't come back to bite them?

Look at almost any club that sits higher in the football period and compare them  to 20 years ago. I simply cannot comprehend an attitude of we have never had it better. There are 50 plus clubs who have played in the Premier league, we are not one of them. It might be 52 or 53 now with Luton. Our ground ranks at mid 30's in terms of largest capacity in the pyramid. Which strangely aligns with our average league position over history. Our training ground is much improved, but have people visited the other facilities, no not at the super teams, but Leicester or Southampton for example?

So if the grass is not always greener, it would take some pretty impressive incompetence to not be one of those 52/53teams that have played in the Prem after spending so much money. Why do people take the worst case scenario, instead of thinking we might just have had an owner that had a clear footballing strategy and carried it out with professional and competent people.

Or, let's look at it another way, does anyone think that another multi-billionaire would place in charge of a project to reach the Prem, Manning, Tinnion, Jon L and Gavin Kelly ? (And that after 20 years of "experience". )

    Exactly.

Who said........::we have never had it better?"   certainly not me?   But i am a realist, who understands that even a businessman who enjoys massive success in his chosen field of finance, does not have the divine right to be successful in an area that he has no experience, background or insight in?   SL was a fan who wanted   his chosen team to be a mirror of his successful business.  But his ego has prevented him from taking advice and council from football experts, who could have provided him with direction and guidance over the 20 years that he has failed to realise his dream?

He has failed to bring success to Bristol City because he has not had the unpretentious and humble attitude to take on board expert advice by football people who could have offered him the instruction he so desperately was in need of?   But he has kept trying, and i believe he might at last have found the right appointment?

Criticising and demeaning the Lansdowns is everyones right, but as they are not going anywhere soon, it is pointless.   I am happy to stick with them in the hope that if you keep throwing enough mud at a wall....eventually some will stick?  Personally I see a bright future, maybe i am a misguided fool........but as i have been supporting them for over 40 years i feel i have the right to be one?

Which of course begs the question why he bothers. He bothers because it flatters his ego when things go well. Unfortunately he gets grumpy and hides when they don't. But that's what he's spent his money on. It's not really reasonable to expect it back. I'm not going to get any of my entrance fees back!

I've met him several times, indeed bought him a drink. Perfectly nice chap but by no stretch of the imagination could his 20 years be considered a footballing success.

I agree...but despite views to the contrary, he is human.  I am really not certain that given the means, and 20 years.......i could have done a better job?   Maybe i could,, but i am not egotistical enough to believe that I would not have made plenty of Mistakes and Mis-steps along the way?   it is so easy to criticise from the sidelines?   We COULD be in a much worse place, than we are currently?
