Been out at a gig tonight hence earlier post at 0-3.

Anyone at the game confirm if there was any good.

Most places bar here  I've seen are screaming for Nigel to go.

    What's the answer ??

Once we had made all the subs and had the side on the pitch that should have started the game we looked a lots better got 1 and could easily have had another but by them the damage was done,

Cotts had no interest in the Academy and wanted it treated as a completely separate entity to the senior club. Probably the only real negative aspect of his tenure here.

I think it was far more political than that, Cotts was upset at being stopped from buying who he wanted so refused to use players from the chairman's pet project, it's a battle he was always going to lose sadly,

  3. You made some good points until you got to the goalkeepers,

Bentley is not the great keeper you make him out to be , he is nailed on to make at least one mistake a game that leads to a goal often more,

He's just a shot stopper, Max is someone who actually controls his box and comes for crosses , you can see how much more happy the defence are with Max behind them as they know he will actually come and help not just say on his line, no for me Max is an upgrade on Bentley,

I thought we played well tonight and we were actually the better team so this is not about the game tonight.

Also to be clear I like NP and I am not asking for a change in manager but..

5 Simple mistakes that I am not sure why he keeps making.

I also think he is now costing us points.

    1. Nakhi Wells needs to stay on the pitch when we are chasing a goal. Effort is brilliant, team contribution is brilliant and a goal scorer at this level. Bringing on Sam Bell Saturday for him was a crazy decision and taking him off tonight was equally as bad.

    2. Chris Martin should never be brought on when we are chasing a goal.
Slows game down. We go long and lose our pattern and shape up front literally kills any chance of a goal.

I would happily let him go on a free in Jan and pay some of his wages just to get someone else in.

3 Sykes is not a wing back - I think Tanner would be better

4 JD is not a wing back - Pring would be better.

Seen enough in the last 2 games re 4 and 5 to think both would do a better job. Delivery has been poor from both most games and Skye’s could be better used as a sub in a more forward position. Both Tanner and Pring are also better defenders than both.

We also played Scott there which was ridiculous to waste him in that position when clearly needs to play in the central role in Midfield.

Wilson never got a chance and he is a natural wingback again madness.

Wiemann played there tonight - that is also ridiculous.

Nige has to sort out wingbacks it’s a problem he has had all season.

    And finally

    5. Playing Max in goal.
I know controversial but Bentley makes game saving saves. Max has not done to bad in fairness but I also don’t think he has had a lot to do at the same time.

Bentley will win you points Max has not done that for me when he has played.

We need to get points at the moment and Bentley will win you  more than Max. Maybe this is about his contract but I think it’s costing us points.

Again not about tonight as thought we were good value for at least a point if not all three.

I don't think its about the brains as you put it, the problem with increasing frequency as I understand it is the lack of passing places on what is mostly a single track line. Others might have more detail?

That's exactly the issue there will not be the capacity on the line for more than one train a hour,

The line is being reopened to the most simple spec possible, Pill will only have one platform reopened so trains will not be able to pass there means the train will need to able to get from temple meads to Portishead and back in a hour,

Opening a station at Ashton gate would add 3 minutes in each direction which they don't want to do,

The station at Ashton gate can't be reopened on it past site as you can't build a new station on a curve so it would need to be somewhere near the level crossing but it's unclear if there is the land here to do it ,

Also the line would need to be double from parson st to a new Ashton gate station adding a lot of cost also as having Ashton gate open would see the need for 2 units on the line increasing the cost, plus the line between temple meads and parson st would need to be put back to 4 track more extra cost,

So at the moment there is zero chance of a station at Ashton gate,

  6. That was so much better, we dominant a very disciplined Preston side and gave nothing from open play, everyone of our players looked up for it tonight, they all worked hard and we looked good, fair play to the management for turning the players around after the weekend,

On another note that set a new standard tonight for the worst display from a ref I have ever seen at the gate, how is he still a league ref

  7. Yes the officials where very poor but really we let ourselves down silly mistakes leading to the goal and non existent midfield in first half offering no protection to the defence in the middle, we had enough good chances as well to have scored at least 3 need to be clinical like QPR were in front of goal, I liked the start good tempo for the first 15 mins before the goal knocked the stuffing out of us and we finished well after the changes were made, so not all bad but some stuff to work on before Tuesday,

All the stuff taken out can be added at a later date, the important thing is getting trains running

But it will be much harder and more expensive,

Making the stations on the line 5 coaches from the off and with the ability to pass trains at Pill so 30 minutes service could be attached when busy is what they should be aiming for,

A good comparison would be borders rail in Scotland a line they reopened to Tweedbank they did it as cheep as possible and it's proved to be mush more popular than expected so now the basic way it was built is not up to the level needed, so they are going to have to spend a lot of money to run longer and more frequent trains, it's like these politicians don't learn,

  9. Latest on the Portishead rail link,

North Somerset council are saying they hope to have the line open by the end of 2026 after North Somerset council and west of England combined authority both agreed to put in 10 million extra each to cover extra costs after the DFT agreed to put an extra 15 million in and agreed to cover any extra costs as a result of inflation,

This brings the current cost of reopening the line to 159 million,

The DFT have now said they are considering the business case for the line and hope to announce the go ahead on 19/2/23

The latest cost savings have seen capacity reduced on the line, the new station at Portishead will now only be 3 coaches long not the 5 previous planed, a 140 seats less per train in the peak

And also there will be no building on the station not even a bus shelter to give cover when waiting for a train,

The plan for Pill to be the only intermittent station in the line is unchanged

So some good and some bad news

  10. Watching Bridgwater win easily 4-0 today against Bitton, Bridgwater looked class easy to see why they are top of the table , they hit the bar and post it could have easily been another 6 or 7 goal game for them, it's so refreshing watching a side playing such attacking football, in Jack Taylor they have a quality striker who I think could easily play at a much higher level,

Looking forward to watching the derby match against Street this Friday,

  11. Going to watch Bridgwater United on Saturday , they have won there first 5 league games for the season sitting top of the league, scoring lots of goals 7 in one match 8 in another, they been playing some lovely attacking football so looking forward to them playing and hopefully beating Bitton this weekend,

I was not a fan of his but he did do something better than that. Did we not get promoted to the championship.

No he didn't get us promoted to the championship so clearly you have proved you don't have a clue what u are talking about ?

  13. I thought we played well for most of the game yesterday, is some players had there scoring boots on we could have very easily put 3 past them,

This is why I am not as worried as some seam to be as I think as long as the very good attacking build up play keeps progressing like it is the goals will come and we will be winning,

The defence dose look better than last season but still a little weak at times, I think some at the back seam to switch off in games and get caught out most of the play at the back is good it's just individual avoidable errors that are letting us down at the moment hopefully something we can cut out soon,

I do think we are progressing well and would be very surprised if we didn't finish the season safely in mid table,
