Yes and I remember when about 50 other players were going to be top performers for us and then got quietly forgotten... what's your point?

Blindly back everyone because sometimes they come good when people don't rate them? Weird.

Nope. Identify which ones have the potential to make it and back those. Simple

I like Max & would dearly love a local lad to be our first choice, but you’re not exactly comparing like for like here.

Semenyo really was a kid (19 or 20) when people were saying he wouldn’t make it (not going to lie, I wasn’t convinced myself & was 100% wrong), but as I said earlier Max will be 26 next season & has already had 3 different runs in the side amongst his 27 league appearances & we don’t appear to see him as a first choice.

A loan spell is either letting him down gently or kicking the can down the road, he’s highly unlikely to have a significant improvement in performance at 27, is he?

Can work differently for a keeper.  How old was Basso when we signed him?  Max has played 50 league games, the same as Semenyo had before this season.

O’Leary going on loan. Again. Just let him go on a free imo. What good is another loan doing for him at 25/26

No point in letting him go on a free if we can find a club to loan him too and cover his wages. If Bentley leaves in 12 months and Max has had a progressive season on loan then we will be glad we didn’t release him

Interesting conversation yesterday on talksport where Leanne Sanderson seemed to suggest that only the premier league would be a step up for Emma Hayes should she come over to the mens game. Thought it was laughable to be honest. Any of the four divisions would be a step up I’m sure.

Well she’s not going to have from top end Prem and Champions League to League Two.  Give her any job and I’m sure she’d do well

  5. The first of the 3 warm up games start tonight on ITV4. No real surprises in the squad with Houghton missing out through lack of fitness.

    Team for tonight against Belgium

England XI: Earps, Bronze, Stokes, Walsh, Bright, Wubben-Moy, Mead, Williamson, White, Stanway, Hemp.

Subs: Daly, Hampton, Kirby, Toone, Parris, Kelly, Greenwood, England, Scott, Roebuck, Russo, Carter.

Interesting to see how we do in the middle of the park.  Very good chance we go a long way In the Euros under a good manager.

You know our fans right, we lose a couple of friendlies and the haters will be all over Pearson.

There are fans who use football as an avenue to moan and be negative.  Think it’s getting worse as well.

Funny how , when you get a response to your nonsense comments that it’s always ‘it was a lighthearted comment / joke’

Well clearly I don’t think that Pearson Out comments will happen if we lose the first two games!!  If we are in the bottom 3 in November though, there will a fair bit of it.

You clearly don’t get the difference between Club Management and International and being Manager of England

Even ignoring it was one of our few chances to prepare for the WC and fwiw it was the equivalent of us losing 4-0 at home against Stockport which undoubtedly attract many calls for Pearson’s head

    Ill remind you

Remaining doubts about his defensive mind and lack of tactical nous

    4 games ,

    Two defeats to Hungary

    1 goal , a penalty

Outplayed for significant periods by Italy and Germany when Pickford And Ramsdale saved defeats

And the WORST home defeat by margin (Ignoring the fact it was Hungary  , not an all conquering Brazil side)

    IN 94 YEARS

    Thats some achievement

You appear to have your blind faith in Johnson syndrome reoccurring

What a bizarre rant in response to a light hearted comment about fans short term thinking.  For the record, I don’t particularly care about the England team or Southgate.  It is funny that you mention the 94 year record and don’t mention that he got us to a major final last year for the first time for ages.  Some fans have a personal dislike for Southgate it seems and focus on the negatives whilst ignoring the positives.  Goodness only knows why

Well, yeah. Cos that would've been then but last night is now. It's all about now, Davo

I look forward to the Pearson out calls if we lose our first two games of next season!

    Good at beating minnows.

    Great and winning friendlys.

Been tested 3 times in tournament football and that stands a 0 - 3

He lacks the tactical ability to push on, with the group of players he has the team should be able to compete consistently and imo he has achieved nothing.

He’s got to the final of a major tournament.  Whether you like it or not, that’s an achievement
