Pre-Season: Rovers to Head to Ireland for Training Camp

We can confirm that the first-team squad will be travelling to Ireland for a pre-season training camp, to further preparations for the 2019/20 Sky Bet League One season.

The trip will see the squad depart on Monday, 8th July to the Irish capital.

As part of the training camp, the first-team will face St. Mochta’s FC in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday, 10th July (7:45pm KO).

Admission prices for the game will be priced at €5 for adults and free for children, with tickets available on the evening at the stadium (St. Mochta’s FC, Porterstown Road, Porterstown, Dublin 15. Ireland).

Talking about the training camp, Manager Graham Coughlan said, “Pre-season is a time to put in the hard yards that set the foundations for the season ahead.

“We originally had a local training camp in the pipeline, but for reasons out of our control, that environment wasn’t right to allow us to put in the essential work on the training ground that is needed at this time of year.”

“We understand that the trip has been arranged at short notice, but the opportunity to take the lads away, just for a few days, will aid in team bonding and boost the squad morale in the weeks ahead of the season starting.

“We will be getting the players as best prepared as possible for the new season and we believe that this trip will allow us to achieve that goal.

“We would like to thank St. Mochta’s for arranging to face us in a pre-season game, that will help us get more minutes into the squad as we edge closer to the start of the season.”

Rovers begin their pre-season season schedule against Yate Town on Saturday, 6th July at Lodge Road(1pm KO).

I've read this in a Irish accent for some reason.

So someone is proposing to put in a planning application for a new football stadium on a site they don't currently own but which they would be able to acquire if Dwane Sports Ltd could be pressurised into "doing the right thing".

Won't that involve spending actual real money though  ?

Just had a look at their fixtures and (Barnsley, Luton and Cov aside) all the rest are very winnable.

Theres no chance they’ll go down. What is amusing is that if you look at their record since ‘the cock’ took over they’re paying the price for hanging onto the managerial mastermind that is Dopey Darrell for at least a month too long.

As always with the Sags actually ' Paying ' the price is the problem .

I did say that he was too good for Rovers weeks ago and Championship clubs would come calling and have been proven right.

But I'm a bit shocked considering it's only been 2 months and it's his first goalscoring spree of his career.

    Click bait.

"Sky did say in one of their reports that things had got interesting `on and off the pitch`. I think it was after Argyle went 2-1 up. I presume social media will advise us what happened in the fullness of time."

If the person who said this didn't care, they wouldn't be checking social media for it correct? Just wanted to inform them so they didn't have to look.

I'm sure this thread would've been all over it if Clarke or Coughlan were even remotely in the wrong, I mean it was after Taylor's celebration against Oxford. Where the thread deemed him as a "scummy player who was perfect for a scummy club." If only they could have known then they'd sign that scummy player.

I'm just surprised your fans haven't been all over the strong possibility that Adam Johnson could join Rovers. Was all over Gaschat. Rovers have one natural winger and have loaned out their second choice Sam Matthews as soon as Johnson is released, seems a bit too coincidental.

Sags and paedophiles a match made in heaven

A nicer stadium for the possibility of attracting more fans, because let's be honest the Mem is a ******* shithole.

But their genuinely is no evidence that this would be the case, history shows anytime your club has had anything of value you sell it. You will sell the Mem to survive administration and history will repeat itself.

I haven't said any different, and the point is I think it's more embarrassing for a club to have a club with a larger amount of unsold tickets. This doesn't affect my argument and isn't even a point, but if your stadium capacity was 30k, compared to 12k (I know Notts County's is 20k it's just an example, before you say I'm twisting the numbers), wouldn't you prefer your 8k attendance to be in the 12k stadium? Genuine question.

I would prefer 12k tickets sold in a 12k stadium like we did in 2014/15., only had the three stands. Using your logic what would be the point of you getting a new 20k stadium that was chased for years just for 8k of you to show up.

8k is our average. But in a 12k capacity stadium. And if your argument was Rovers crowds are awful, and I asked you to name a bigger fanbase from the least-supported club of a two club city with as big a quality gap as Rovers and City, and you name a club who gets less than us.

What has the size of the ground got to do with it ? You and your sags use this a lot like a badge of honour, I don't understand it. You twist your poor attendance to fit your mythical huge following , but the fact is you're average at best.
