  1. Not an easy decision. Normally, I would suggest Lewis Gregory, but, unfortunately, he is frequently unavailable due to injury. Similarly, whilst Ben Green has some limited captaincy experience (50 overs), he is not guaranteed a first team place and, of course, his experience in captaincy is effectively limited to second eleven players who are even younger than him.
  2. I really shouldn't have condescended to respond, but what a pathetic retort.
  3. I see, all clear now. So who owns Pula Sport Limited, then?
  4. I thought he’d asked for his account to be deleted .
  5. As I said, I agree that both you and Eddie are correct technically, but I just feel more comfortable saying ‘they’ when referring to, e.g. a football team. Were somebody to ask me how City played today, I am sure I would reply (hopefully) ‘They were fantastic’, rather than ‘he, she or it’ played etc.
  6. I gave Eddie a like earlier, as I believe he is correct technically. Nevertheless, would he not agree that it would ‘sound better’, were 22A to have written that Barnsley ‘have’ been thrown out of the FA Cup? Incidentally, I make no comment on the choice of the phrase ‘thrown out’, which is only marginally better than the ‘kicked out’ chosen by the BBC .
  7. Well, I am truly surprised. I am aware he had some problems in his life, but not that they existed during his actual playing career. I remember one match away against Portsmouth, when I was in the enclosure at the side of the pitch - anybody who has been there will know that it is very low down. I was watching him head the ball in the warm up, and remember thinking what a fine athlete he looked - thighs like huge hams and, from a standing start, heading the ball from the edge of the penalty area to the half way line.
  8. I know it's a few years ago now, but can you imagine Len Fricker putting up with that or, indeed, anybody adopting that attitude towards him?
  9. I saw this on one of their forums, which I thought, to be fair, was quite amusing. Remember the ’s 5 pillars ? Well we’ve got at least 6 !
  10. As you were saying @SecretSam, you moron .
  11. But apparently not if you clamber over a war memorial waving a Palestinian flag.
  12. And result in a speeding fine.
  13. I forget where I read it now, but I seem to recall he was their bassist on one of their tours, i.e. as opposed to studio/album.
  14. So, someone like Bradley Orr. In all seriousness, I thought this initially, but he turned out rather well, didn’t he?
  15. I am reading that Neil Lennon is being considered for the long vacant manager post. Do you perhaps have any thoughts on this @Miah Dennehy?
  16. I’m not sure the conveyor belt has dried up. Off the top of my head, I can think of two players who would be eligible, but, unfortunately, will not be selected. Rico Lewis, who currently has his own thread on here, is unavailable as he has been named in the full England squad, as was Jude Bellingham, before he pulled out due to injury. I believe a certain Alex Scott might also have been eligible.
  17. Unfortunately, I’ve never watched him play. I did read recently, however, that his grandfather was a bassist with Oasis. Totally irrelevant to his football ability, but I thought it was quite interesting. Probably coincidental, but I understand Gary Ainsworth tried to sign him on loan. Actually, I made that last bit up.
  18. Just as you desired, but probably a little too late.
  19. The three big threats now gone, but probably too little too late.
  20. I’m still holding a bit of hope for South Africa.
  21. Thanks for satisfying my curiosity. As I was typing ‘U23 line up’, I was thinking ‘Hang on, don’t they normally put out an U21 team?’. All is now clear. Incidentally, does anybody recall when the U23 competition stopped?
  22. First thoughts are that a home defeat against Cribbs is something of a surprise. I saw from the team sheet that it was quite different to our usual U23 line up. Any particular reason, or was it an U18 as someone suggested earlier?
