Former Bristol Boy has passed away.

I posted on a thread in the ‘General’ forum how the Bristolian, ex Liverpool centre back had passed away.

Isn’t it funny how people’s memories work.

For me, Larry Lloyd was the ex Bristol Rovers player who signed for Bob Shankly’s Liverpool.

Nevertheless, I am sure most people probably remember him as the Nottingham Forest centre back, who won the European Cup.

Was he just a little bit before your time following Liverpool?

  2. As I have mentioned previously, very much a game of chance.

Better known as a name, indeed!! To the extent that my mental list of options, once I'd got the last four letters, put a "W" ahead of an 'S" - even though that's a name too!!

I'll have a look at Quordle. Thanks.

As I mentioned earlier, I was only missing the fourth letter, and would have inserted a ‘T’, but that had already been excluded.

My infrequent failures to complete WORDLE have all been due to a choice of several possible correct words with my final letter on my last attempt, sometimes several attempts.

If ever there was a more over-rated player than Trundle...

Perhaps, but over and above his involvement in the playoffs, I still consider his goal against Scunthorpe to be one of the best I have ever seen live.

Because the word is better known as a name? No names allowed I thought. Yesterday was my first failure for about 2 years, not annoyed as such. Now they have removed stats (if no account) it doesn't seem to matter as much.

    Back on track today.

It is, of course, better known as a forename, but is also the second word in a well known phrase, hence my comment in my earlier post about the fact I completed it on my fourth attempt.

Re. failures, I have failed WORDLE on a few occasions, but never failed to complete QUORDLE.

Did you get the first letter early on? With respect to @Slacker! I think that was a big help. Mrs ID did, and got it in 4. I had the last 4 letters in place after my third go, but it left so many other - and far more obvious - options for the first letter.

I did, actually, in my first go, along with the fourth letter, both of which were green - obviously a fortuitous start.

I had four green letters by my third go, and the obvious choice for the missing fourth letter had already been ruled out, making it a formality to complete.

I have posted previously that I far prefer QUORDLE.

I do both most days, but find WORDLE very much a game of chance.

Today's Wordle will cause some ructions.

I actually completed it in four, which I thought was slightly amusing - forth and all that, assuming it was the same word.

Why might there have been some ructions?

I also completed Quordle to maintain my long successful streak (completed, but not in four), but I cannot for the life of me remember the word.

I'd argue that your suggestions are nowhere near harsh enough.

It's all very well taking away their benefits from cheating - but that's not even a punishment for the cheating itself.

It needs a clear & simple rule, along the lines of ANYONE found guilty of blatent & avoidable financial cheating should be demoted by 2 divisions.

They won't have the balls to chuck Man City down to League 1 - they are too valuable an asset to the Premier league. But I bet they'd have little hesitation in using it as a way of getting rid of the likes of Luton - who ironically have suffered their financial plight in recent years & still battled their way back to the top table.

I've always disliked Luton - but I love how they have battled this season & now I really hope they stay up for another season.

Hopefully, at the expense of Forest.

Not long got back from Porto, cracking city, quality food, surprised me how serious they took there food, mercado do bolaho is an unreal market to visit on a sunny afternoon

    dirt cheap aswell

Did you form the impression that their proportions are huge?

I have been to Portugal and Madeira on several occasions and, apart from the quality and (by UK/French standards) fantastic value for money, I often found difficulty in finishing my plate.

As you say, their markets, especially their fresh fish and seafood, are quite spectacular.

How about the presentation of this Jerusalem artichoke too? Stunning.

The artichoke looks absolutely wonderful, as did the ox cheeks in your previous post, both very well presented.

Over here, Jerusalem artichokes are called topinambour, are frequently eaten mashed (like potatoes) and look like this.

Indeed. Tinnion alone, he lacks the gravitas, the contacts, the experience, perhaps the intelligence shall I go on.  Probably a load of other shortcomings.

Mind you he isn't the only one.

    Indeed.

Right man perhaps, but wrong job.

A shame, nevertheless, that he appears to have tarnished his reputation once again.

I wonder seriously whether he regrets his decision to change roles, for he does appear to have a deep affinity with the club.

You could hear the break when Rodriguez broken his leg, the ground went completely silent - very very grim

OK, I’ll have to stand corrected as I didn’t attend the Rodriguez match.

I always remember Dani Rodrigues. Not long after joining had a bad break in 2000 at Ashton Gate. Friends in the ground at the time said you could hear him screaming .

I don't think anything could be worse than Gerry Sharpe against Middlesbrough - the crack as he broke his leg could probably be heard in Greville Smyth Park.

Nice spot. Such a great book. One I read years ago and the name - with slight spelling adjustment - stuck.

I have read the book a few times over the years, and I still chuckle (or find myself frustrated 😆) when I read or hear something that reminds me of one of the chaotic (and unfeasible) situations in which he found himself.

I didn't say any of that. I agree with with you but thought the post I responded to referred to only how to improve communications.

All good. Full respect to all.

    Good response.

On a totally different subject, and in reference to your username, I wonder how many on here have read the book.

    Interesting stuff, thoughts?

Actually, I was going to copy/paste the BL article on this thread as I thought Wael’s thoughts were very good and well written.

Interesting, as you suggest, although I question whether asking for a percentage of any transfer fee is or would be a goer - quite ridiculous to be fair, although I understand the sentiment.

I just had a terrifying mental image of Tinnion breastfeeding Alex Scott. 🤢

All of which gives me a mental image of Alex Scott breastfeeding me, but that is probably for another thread or site even 😉.

To just give the full SP, both Tinnion and Manning said that DM hadn’t played in Belgium due to work permit issues (I think Liams quote was along the lines of DM hadn’t played for 3 months because of it) - @Curr Avon got in touch with a Belgian journalist and it transpired that DM had missed one day of a training camp in Turkey due to visa issues and that was it.

It was a bizarre thing to lie about and my only explanation is they wanted to make the signing seem more of a coup than it was.

Congratulations on introducing an equestrian term in the middle of Cheltenham Week 😉.

It is a game of opinions, and I think he is doing a good job and has done a good job in the past - both as a player and running the academy.  I think it also likely that the lean and mean management structure is an artefact of the bean counters who run the club. Brian has become the scapegoat. Unfairly in my humble opinion.

I don't think anybody is disputing the highlighted section of your post, and neither should they be.

I believe that the problem is that BT appears ill-equipped and totally unsuited to his current role, which requires communication and presentatation skills that, unfortunately, he appears manifestly to be lacking.
