I love all those swinging 60s London short films. Totally magical. I was born in 1961, so I was only a kid when the 60s were happening, but I think somewhere inside, it all made a deeep impression on me. Love it.

Yes, I know what you mean.

This was always one of my favourites back then.

    As was this one.

It gets worse Dolly,….you’ll reach the time where they start offering you their seat on the bus/tube.

This happened to me just before Christmas.

I was taking the RER in to Paris, standing as it was qute busy, when two young girls of Caribbean origin (I know, because I asked them) stood up and kindly offered me their seat.

I pretended to be angry and offended, arguing that I was young and didn't need their kind offer, and we all enjoyed a very pleasant chat for the rest of the journey.

A chastening reminder, perhaps, for those (including some on here) who moan constantly about today's youth, especially those who are foreign (or of a different, darker colour).

  3. Assuming they don't get promoted, whether directly or through the playoffs, then he would probably be a good fit for Ipswich next season - a snip for them at just over £1M or so, given his contract status.

I compared him earlier to Patrick Bamford, and I think he would be able to prove himself under the guidance of their current manager - provided he stays, of course.

TC is, of course, well known to certain senior Ipswich staff members.

If those messages are indeed from him they are unbelievably cringey and rather tragic.

I did not need to see the pictures in the middle of breakfast either....

Where did you manage to see that?

  5. Many on here (me included) have compared him to a young Alan Shearer, although not recently, but I am now thinking more along the lines of Patrick Bamford.

I think TC would be excellent in a Leeds type team, at this level, i.e. Championship, but I am not sure he is going to cut it in the Premier League.

I wish him luck, but time will tell.

Car roof boxes addd to the drag which obviously uses more fuel. Best to remove them when not in use.

    Well, of course.

Mount them and load them the day before leaving, unload and dismount them when returning.

I really don't see the problem, nor do I see any reason to wonder why they are being used all year round, i.e. whenever people go on holiday.

People who are driving around in winter with their roof box still mounted on the car 5 months after returning from their gite holiday in France.

Perhaps they are going to/returning from a skiing holiday?

My ‘ski box’ would be put on and removed from my car at least twice a year, once in the winter and again in the summer.

A change in rules depending on how it is formulated could be very beneficial to Aston Villa.

If there is no Upper Loss limit then this risks totally letting some bigger spenders with variable trajectory the hook and others will have been punished ahead of a Regulatory change..

..Wolves made drastic calls that were very much to their retirement on paper. Losing as they did Lopetegui.

A potential £0.4m was it pre tax Profit replaced by a potential €138m (that would be £110-115m) Pre Tax Loss as the starting point. Hmm.

I would be raising this forcefully as a PL club especially one who were badly hamstrung or who showed restraint and or took decisions to their detriment.

On occasions, predictive text can prove detrimental to what one wants to post 😉.

Just to pass on some very sad news to those on the boxing thread , some will know already but for those who don’t @B1ackbird has sadly passed away after an illness recently. Very sad and obviously thoughts are with his partner, family and friends.

He loved his Bristol city but also very much his boxing. Had many a night at muckers house watching boxing, few to many beers and poker. Will be sadly missed.

    Oh, that is sad.

I never knew @B1ackbird, but used to enjoy his posts on this thread.

I always thought of him as being in his 30/40s, so will think of him as a young man gone too soon.

The Mirror called it a rock...then quoted this...

In January, Antwerp's public prosecutor told a hearing: "According to many people involved, Ilias Chair lashed out at Niels T with a stone and knocked him unconscious. The consequences were dramatic for Niels T.

It is, of course, quite possible that there was a fault in the translation from Flemish.

I am no longer familiar with the Belgian legal system, but I should imagine it is very similar to that in France and, indeed, to the UK, where a person is considered innocent until proven guilty.

Certainly, the law in France, Germany and other continental countries is that the identity of a person charged with a crime is not divulged to the public until such time as the accused person has been found guilty.

By extension, the media are not allowed to divulge such details either.

Personally, I think that is quite a quaint system, and goes a long way to supporting the concept of being considered innocent until proven guilty.

A certain Nicolas Sarkozy, ex-President of France, has been found guilty of two serious corruption offences.

In the first, he was sentenced to three years imprisonment, two of which were suspended, but has appealed and, accordingly, has not set one foot in prison.

In the second, he was sentenced to twelve months prison, which he is currently serving at home.

    Hi Mark,

I may be wrong, but I suspect @Silvio Dante was referring to an old Cilla Black song from a certain film starring Michael Caine.

  16. With hindsight, we (and he) were very lucky he got that all important first goal against Southampton, as it would have been awful if his last appearance and involvement this season were to have been his unfortunate penalty against Forest.

Yes, I know he started against Middlesbrough.
