  1. Spotted as a youngster in Barbados some years ago and given a scholarship by Warwickshire. He certainly looks promising.
  2. Who was the commentator with the broad Bristolian accent? He sounded as if he might have been an ex-Rovers player. He certainly sounded as if he was a Rovers supporter ?.
  3. Apparently ?, 8 pages and counting. https://gaschat.co.uk/thread/19697/barton-favourite-next-burnley-manager
  4. We all have different memories, but mine was: ‘When we get promotion, This is what we’ll sing, We all love you, We all love you, Galley is our King.’ Still, whatever floats your boat.
  5. Two questions about this match. Firstly, who is commenting on the live feed? Secondly, I have not been to The County Ground for decades, but would anybody be kind enough to let me know the identity of the large imposing stone building on one side of the ground?
  6. Ton Abell just dropped by Hammond at second slip; a regulation catch in to his hands then out again. Abell had already started walking, when he must have heard the groans and returned to the crease.
  7. Another fortunate guess. Wordle 328 3/6 ?? ??? ?????
  8. Obviously, I got the first letter right with my first attempt, but after my second attempt had had four vowels refused. As I said, it was then just a fortunate inspired guess.
  9. Leeds cynicism was certainly disappointing, especially when, as you say, they had such a great team/squad - I know you were referring to out and out goal scorers, but they also had occasional scorers such as Giles and Bremner, Jack Charlton, Terry Cooper and, of course, our very own ? Norman Hunter. I do agree, though, about the fans and, for that reason if no other, would have a wry smile were they to be relegated.
  10. I watched the 1965 FA Cup Final between Liverpool and Leeds (on black and white TV), and whilst I recall the match itself was quite boring, I was enthralled by Leeds' black South African winger, Albert Johanneson, and, from that moment, Leeds became my 'second team'. I acknowledge I may be in the minority on this forum, but I really enjoyed watching that Don Revie team. I can't stand them now, though, and started to go off them following their fans' outrageous behaviour to me during our fantastic FA Cup victory at Elland Road.
  11. Obviously, an inspired guess to conclude, but I was quite pleased with myself. Wordle 327 3/6 ?? ?????
  12. I appreciate you were joking, but Corinne Diacre, the current French women's team manager, might be considered as a pioneer. Ten years or so ago, she managed Clermont for a few years in the French 'Second Division', with moderate success, a first in French football. Somewhat ironically, given some of the comments on here, she replaced the original choice, the successful Portuguese Coach, Helena Costa, who resigned shortly after being appointed, without even taking up the post, claiming the Club was too 'amateurish' ?.
  13. RV is suing CR for libel, i.e. that she issued a false (written) statement (without just cause) that was damaging to her reputation. Whilst there are defences, (fair comment, justification), the onus (burden of proof) is on the Defendant (CR) to prove that the allegedly libellous statement was true. I have not really been following the case in detail, but, if I understand correctly, VR is stating that it was not her who leaked the stories to the press, but her agent, the unfortunate girl who dropped her mobile telephone into the North Sea. Presumably, this is why CR's barrister has been trying to demonstrate that VR's agent was acting under her direct instructions. As far as VR's reputation is concerned, however, I would suggest this has been damaged far more by the Court revelations than any suggestion she did or did not leak CR's stories to the press. What a horrible character. One thing I omitted in my post, concerning the necessity for the Defendant (CR) to prove that her statement was true, is that her statement simply said that the leaks came from VR's account, i.e. she didn't say that VR herself had leaked them personally. Unless I am mistaken, VR has already confirmed in Court that this is correct!
  14. On another note, James Bracey has been out of touch the last few games. Is this the match he refinds his form?
  15. Possibly, although Amir is apparently injured and not playing for Glos., who have got three loanees.
  16. And, whilst we have yet to hear both sides of the story, she (RV) and her agent, the one who unfortunately dropped her mobile telephone from a ferry, thus losing all the (possibly incriminating) evidence, seem to be claiming they were done up like a kipper by Coleen. Incredibly, Coleen could come out of this smelling of roses, although both of them will be considerably out of pocket. What a complete nonsense.
  17. Glos won the toss, Somerset batting.
  18. I saw this on the SCCC site earlier, but can't for the life of me work out the meaning of two E-mojis. An aeroplane and an apple. Can anybody on here enlighten me? Thanks in advance. Go well @SomersetCCC let the neighbours know who’s boss, big win incoming a
  19. When they played in that strange blue/grey kit. An absolutely wonderful game.
  20. Interesting. I remember him from his appearances in The Sweeney, which I used to enjoy, and Minder. I also seem to recall he was with that red-haired beauty, Rula Lenska, who used to star in some all female cast series. I was/am not aware of any wife beating stories.
  21. Frankly, I’m indifferent about today’s results, but Good Luck on Monday.
  22. I have just spent a few days in Baie de Somme, 40 or so north of Dieppe. I saw on the fish market yesterday; fresh scallops, still in their shell, €6/kilo!
  23. As far as I can gather, he is still paying the penalty for his last minute error away to Preston.
