  1. Very corny, excruciating in fact. Very good, though ?.
  2. It was, although I am not 100% sure he didn’t just venture out of his area slightly before releasing the ball. On another subject, Andreas Weimann’s excellent second goal, our fifth, has been described as a lob over the keeper. Surely, it was a chip. Perhaps the terminology has changed, but when I was playing (many years ago) a lob was the name given to the the sort of shot taken when the ball was bouncing and you just sort of helped it on its way.
  3. A very interesting post. When you have sobered up, you might care to reflect on what you are wishing on a young player and retract your comments. Interestingly, several posters on this forum have suggested he would be a useful loan signing for us next season. That would be embarrassing, wouldn’t it?
  4. If only we had not thrown away an almost certain draw against Surrey and claimed that (Oh, so nearly) thrilling win against Essex....
  5. Hmm, careful. Personally, I cannot stand the woman (Clare Balding), but your comment is certainly not funny, and probably offensive, even abusive.
  6. I have just seen COVE’s bowling figures. 14 overs, 8 maidens, 2 for 12. He is really bowling very well this season.
  7. At this stage of the day, and the match in general, what a ridiculous shot that was from Hain. Two wickets to go. Enforce the follow on or not?
  8. I wondered who it was. I have only been listening intermittently, heard frequent references to ‘Treegs’, but couldn’t place the voice. I have just tuned in again and seen VM and PT together - I thought it was PT commenting when he made reference to playing as a youngster and being intimidated by various Yorkshire players.
  9. Of course they were, Lloyd Kelly excepted, but I suspect @RedZepperin is being somewhat sarcastic.
  10. Alcohol can have that effect sometimes ?.
  11. Perhaps that’s why it was ‘very interesting’.
  12. I see most comments on here are almost identical to my experience in renewing my passport from France. Easy to do, fast and efficient, so very much credit where credit is due.
  13. He was, indeed, a great character and, for the most part, a good laugh. I must have eaten at Floyd’s in Clifton at least once a month over a six-month period, so often in fact that he would always come out (when he was there) say Hello and have a friendly chat; not just about the meal, but about life in general. I was always accompanied by my (then) girlfriend, an attractive young lady, and we were both quite sure he quite fancied her. No problem, as everything was always good humoured, but, unfortunately, we (my girlfriend and I) were going through a ‘problematic’ time on the occasion of our last visit and really just wanted a quiet dinner to have a heart-to-heart chat. Surprise, surprise, who should come bouncing out of the kitchen, but the ever (alcohol induced) jovial Keith Floyd, rabbiting on about ‘n’importe quoi’, and telling us what a lovely couple we were. We finished that evening ?.
  14. So you remember Hansi. Actually, I used to quite enjoy watching him, and Uwe.
  15. Probably a little bit before your time, but the late Keith Floyd used to have a restaurant in Clifton back in the 1970s, named, quite simply, Floyd's. A really quirky restaurant, although the food was always fantastic, and Mr Floyd would frequently leave his kitchen to ensure everything was OK.
  16. This one is working well at the moment. If you are quick, you'll even the get the last round of Tommy Fury. http://bestsolaris.com/boxingstreams/tyson-fury-vs-dillian-whyte/
  17. You are probably all correct, but my point was very much 'what if?'. I was just wondering whether he might have improved had he been able to grow in to the role in his favoured position, i.e. on the right side of the central defence, rather than helping out in a position in which I think he looked ill suited. Nevertheless, whatever his merits as a footballer, he remains ideal son-in-law material.
  18. Did anybody ever eat in Jamie Oliver’s Italian restaurant on Park Street? If so, what was it like? I never tried the Bristol one, but I ate a few times in his London one, and was extremely disappointed each time. I found the door staff pretentious and the the food quite boring and extremely expensive for what it was, and the prices for wine were way over the top. I am just curious as to whether anybody on the forum who might have eaten in the Bristol branch shared my views or enjoyed their experience.
  19. I still wonder how good he might have been had he played constantly on the right, rather than on the left, where he was frequently asked to play to provide cover.
  20. An interesting response. You would make a good mod on Gaschat.
  21. It always amazes me when a wicketkeeper drops a simple catch. I mean, I know there is pressure etc., but even so. Tom Abell also dropped one a bit later, although it was a slightly more difficult chance to be fair.
