  1. I am assuming you both refer to Somerset when mentioning County Cricket, but is watching on SKY any different to watching the live stream on the official SCCC site? The Somerset stream gives a wonderful picture with very enjoyable commentary.
  2. Indeed. I remain convinced that Wordle, as opposed to Quordle, is very often down to luck. Wordle 283 3/6 ?? ??? ?????
  3. To be fair, some of their comments are quite amusing. I particularly liked the disparaging comments about your (and Mr. Pops’) maths ability - the poster was assuming you are a West Country boy. ’One hay bale plus one hay bale seems beyond them’. I found that quite funny ?.
  4. Back in the 1980s, a neighbour of mine who worked for Vauxhall in Luton used to drive a basic Astra, I stress ‘basic’, as it was not the GTE model, which was a lovely specimen. Just like your father, he would often be working on his car during weekends, and he took me out for a drink one Sunday morning to a local country pub. When we were driving back, we had a similar incident when a Mercedes cabriolet pulled up alongside and the young driver and his passengers started taking the proverbial out of what, to be fair, appeared a very basic car in comparison, and of course, the revving of the engine waiting for the lights to change. Their faces were a picture when they caught up with us at the next lights, and my neighbour told me later that he frequently got spare parts ‘cheaply’ from the factory, hence his weekend car maintenance.
  5. Wow. That must have been extremely frustrating ?. I have had three, perhaps four guesses like that before, but never as many as you. More proof, if any were needed, that Wordle, as opposed to Quordle, is very much a game of chance.
  6. It was quite a few years ago now, but a female neighbour of mine and a frequent visitor to our local pub had a favourite drink by the name of Gold Label Barley Wine, which was in fact a beer, served in a small (1/2 pint?) bottle. She was a very jolly lady, probably in her mid-50s at the time, and I recall she would get through at least four bottles every time she came to the pub - as I said, they were only small bottles. Some years later, I tried a bottle myself, and whilst I didn’t particularly like the taste, I was shocked to discover it was about 10% proof! And she used to drink at least four bottles in a single session! No wonder she was always so jolly.
  7. Wordle 282 6/6 ? ?? ???? ???? ????? It's not the first time, and it's very frustrating. I had a very similar problem with Quordle a few weeks ago;, it took me three or four attempts, although fortunately each letter I guessed appeared in one the other words so enabled me to complete it.
  8. I found myself in the same position, but fortunately got it with my second guess - I am assuming you were missing the first letter.
  9. Well, I was going to suggest Wimbledon, but I suppose there is no longer any need to guess as I know the answer now. Well Done.
  10. Certainly an interesting one. Wordle 281 4/6 ? ?? ???? ?????
  11. I went to our first leg away to St. Mirren, hired a car to drive up, and, after a pre-match haggis and chips, spent a wonderful couple of hours in their Supporters Club bar, repeated after the game. Unfortunately, when we tried to return the gesture in the return game, our new friends from Glasgow (Paisley) weren’t allowed in as they weren’t members ?.
  12. Incidentally, why does everyone appear to want Martinez to win? I am not too knowledgeable about boxing, but would usually support the Brit.
  13. Try this one. https://www.vipbox.lc/kiko-martinez-vs-josh-warrington-1-live
  14. Actually, I suspect it may have been both. I recall many years ago when I was a young schoolboy and an avid reader of the wonderful comics, Dandy and Beano, there was a regular article called The Bashstreet Kids. Now, it may have been in a different article, but I am pretty sure there was either a local football team or, perhaps, just a rival gang called The Gasworks Team, and I well recall teasing Rovers fans in the playground about being The Gasworks Team - we would have been 8 or 9 years old at the time, so certainly not starting or leading any terrace chants. The Gasheads would have been several years later.
  15. A shame that Antoine Semenyo isn’t partnering his former teammate, JoJo.
  16. One of their posters started the thread with the heading ´Good News Day’, posting that he was out for the rest of the season with a mystery illness. Certainly not good news for McKirdy, but what an awful way to start a thread.
  17. Nothing wrong with Directors, or it used to be quite nice a few years ago. Incidentally, any truth to the story that your goalscorer, McKirdy, is out for the rest of the season? A bit of a bummer if the story is true.
  18. Indeed, but, as they say, Fortune favours the brave. Australia win the series in the last session of the final Test.
  19. I have never heard of him, but unless this is a whoosh, I would suggest most people were at that time.
  20. Unless he comes on as a second half sub and scores a hat trick ?.
  21. I see that Joe Morrell is not playing, not even on the bench. Does anybody know why? Injured or dropped?
  22. COVE currently our second highest scorer this innings, with 13 Not Out.
  23. I was in the midst of responding to your erroneous post, when I noticed you had deleted it. Very Lucky ?.
  24. Some 50 years ago, there was a song by Christie called Yellow River - a few older ones on here might remember it, although there is no need for anybody to look it up if they don’t know it, as it wasn’t really a classic. A popular playground question (in my school anyway) was to ask who wrote it. The answer was I P Daily. The follow up question was to ask who wrote the sequel, Rusty Bedsprings, the answer being I P Nightly. Honestly, it was really funny at the time. As Mary Hopkin and our Ipswich fans might say, Those Were The Days.
