  1. I always thought SLR referred to a camera.
  2. Wow, it is now leaking out on mainstream news sites. Shocking news. 52 years old!
  3. I have seen no mention of this on any of the main News sites. I appreciate that there are far more important things going on in the world at present, but I hope you are both wrong.
  4. I remember seeing some (quite sickening) pictures of him sitting with various England WAGS on his lap, but none of them really looked like Steve Lansdown.
  5. It was many years ago now, but I remember those little four-pack cartons. As I said, my mother used to have one every Christmas, but, unlike yours, it was usually gone by Boxing Day ?.
  6. Mixed with a brandy, presumably. In fact, brandy and Babycham used to be one of my mother's favourite drinks every Christmas.
  7. Judging by the number of requests for 'Mates Rates' tickets, this looks like building up to quite an impressive attendance, particularly as Birmingham usually bring a large following.
  8. They certainly can be if one is unable to interpret them. But, please tell me, what exactly in the stat that City had 13 shots on target leads you to interpret this as City failed to have even one shot on target?
  9. A tricky Wordle today. Wordle 258 5/6 ? ? ?? ?????
  10. It's a horrible feeling isn't it, when you get to line 7 and realise you only have two lines left and hardly any correct letters in the outstanding two boxes? We both appear to have had problems with boxes 8 and 9, and, I don't know about you, but my completion of box 8 was thanks to an inspired guess, which, luckily, gave me a third letter for my final attempt on box 9.
  11. Thanks for that. We'll see if this works. Wordle 257 3/6 ? ?? ????? Ooh, it does. Thanks again.
  12. I agree that the end result, losing to Hull, was extremely disappointing, but, for me, the post-match feeling (after Palace) was better and, of course, the build up to the Wembley final was fantastic. There was also probably the subconscious feeling in the back of my mind that we were going to beat Rotherham, whereas I was not at all confident against Palace - I actually watched both legs in a bar over here with a Palace Director, who was effusive about Noble’s goal and, to be fair, magnanimous in defeat after the second leg. I suppose, with hindsight, my feelings after Rotherham were of relief, that we had finally got out of that division, whereas, after Palace, my feelings were of expectation, euphoria even, that we were finally going to reach the promised land. After all these years, I should have known better.
  13. Or even a Director - Simon Jordan felt quite passionately about CP's 'ghost goal' against City..
  14. I wouldn't prejudge it; it apparently stars Robbie Savage!
  15. This might help. Noble & Elliott barely ever played together, from Merriam-Webster dictionary: "barely/scarcely ever. : almost never: rarely. People also ask. Does barely mean never? What does this mean? The word 'barely' by itself means 'only just, scarcely' Never 1. at no time in the past or future; not ever. 2. not at all. Glad to be of assistance, but, as has been suggested, the Internet is always useful if you don't have a dictionary handy.
  16. And, of course, the two Klitschko brothers.
  17. I haven’t yet tried today’s puzzles, but please let me know how you manage to copy your results in such a concise way. The only way I find for Quordle is to copy the whole page, which is huge, and I can’t copy Wordle at all! Re. Wordle, on yesterday’s version I had the last four letters ‘Green’ from my third attempt, but only finished it on my final attempt.
  18. You are probably both right, but I maintain that, in these particular games, especially when the 'incident' has broken out so close to their opening, some compassion should be shown to the paralympic athletes who have fought through adversity to achieve their dream. I am most certainly not an apologist for Russia, nor similar nations, far from it, but I daresay there is at least one Russian or Belarussian athlete who can relate personally to the story I post below, and I think of William Blackstone when I repeat that they should be allowed to compete. https://www.bbc.com/sport/disability-sport/60508601
  19. So, in effect, you are saying you think Mike Ashley is going to buy Chelsea.
  20. I’m not so sure. His goal against Palace was a cracker, and promised so much more than the Rotherham victory achieved.
  21. I am not sure I understand. Are you saying he used to come in to the hairdresser *for* a haircut before a match day, which seems fair enough, or he would come in half cut, which is to be frowned upon and, in fact, renders his trip somewhat worthless, although I assume he received a discount as his barber’s job was already half complete.
  22. I always thought of RA as being one of the more genuine, passionate of the Russian, Middle and Far East owners (the late Leicester City owner aside) and this, together with his Jewish orphan boy done good story, sort of wants me to believe him. Given his close and long relationship with Putin, however, I can’t believe he didn’t have at least some inkling as to what was going on (and has gone on in the past) so probably best if we thank him for his magnanimous gesture and inform him that we shall seize his assets nevertheless and ensure that the net proceeds of the sale are transferred to Ukraine in accordance with his wishes. Brownie points for Boris, as well, so a sort of Win Win.
  23. I'm surprised at you Tom. I share the sentiment, but there is no T in Harford.
  24. I'm sorry, but I have to take issue with you on this statement. Haven't you read any posts from @Sixtyseconds?
