  1. I'm sorry, but I have to take issue with you on this statement. Haven't you read any posts from @Sixtyseconds?
  2. Definitely getting worse, although this is the first time I have failed to complete it.
  3. And, in addition, any prospective purchaser would have to resolve the problem of the stadium.
  4. My general position is that, if a Nation is banned from sport or even from just one competition, then the ban applies to both the Nation and its competitors, without exception, so forget this nonsense of allowing athletes to compete under a new name and neutral flag, e.g. ROC. On this occasion, however, I do have some empathy, perhaps even sympathy for the IPC and, in particular, for the athletes themselves. As you say, it is likely the athletes themselves are apolitical and, of course, most of them would probably have already arrived in China to prepare before the horror of Russia's intervention in Ukraine began. My overriding thought, though, is that we are talking about a small number of athletes only, who, by definition of the name of Games in which they are competing, have already suffered in their personal lives, and I think that, notwithstanding the action of their Country being taken in their name, we can afford them some compassion.
  5. Indeed. It would be somewhat arrogant, preumptuous even, were the people running the BCFC site to think for one moment that players or supporters of Cardiff City or any Welsh team might want to check their site to see if they have received the Club's best wishes for their National Day.
  6. Hmmm. I wonder how many parents (Mums) will be encouraging their children to run on to the pitch to grab a nice big shirt ?.
  7. I have now read this paragraph several times, and am still laughing. Oscar Wilde would have been proud of such a post.
  8. The 'joke' was made many years earlier in one of Tom Sharpe's Blott novels, when the lady in question mistook a thermos flask. Does anybody on here remember the wonderful Tom Sharpe novels? Did anybody actually read them? My apologies if, once again, I have derailed the thread.
  9. Of Course, and I'm sure you are correct. Tomorrow will be 1 March, and the days are counting - Russia have not yet been kicked out.
  10. Sort of 'Get me to the crypt on time'.
  11. Hmmm. The World Cup play-offs are scheduled for 24 March, so just over three weeks away. One can only hope that a peace of some sort has been achieved before then, although on what basis remains to be seen. Nevertheless, the current situation is that, whilst FIFA, in their wisdom, have stated that Russia must play in a neutral country etc., Poland, Sweden and Czech Republic have indicated their refusal to play against them - the current penalty being a 3-0 victory for Russia and, by extension, ultimate qualification for Qatar. I have always been against the World Cup being held in Qatar, for reasons I believe many on this forum share, and I would just love it (a la Kevin Keegan) were Russia to qualify, where it would be almost inevitable they would find themselves in a group containing one or more European Nations. I am almost willing this to happen so that said European Nations refuse to participate resulting in the late collapse of the World Cup this year and its postponement to a new date next summer (the season when World Cups should be played) in Europe or, frankly, almost anywhere.
  12. I was just willing the referee to give him a yellow card for his brazen 'professionalism'.
  13. OK, Thanks. Just wishful thinking on my part, then.
  14. I wasn’t aware of his Portuguese citizenship, but I am surprised he didn’t buy a Maltese one; easily done and immediate EU rights.
  15. Watching the League Cup final this evening, I noticed that Chelsea’s kit had a yellow vertical stripe. Is this their normal kit, or a special one for today?
  16. If it’s the game I’m thinking of, it was January 1994 (perhaps 1995), on a bitterly cold Sunday afternoon with torrential rain. The pitch was like a potato field, City (who, like Everton, played poorly) had chances to win - Partridge hit the post when it looked easier to score (so did somebody else, I think, but I can’t remember who) and Allison headed a glorious chance miles wide. As you stated, Jackson scored a late winner for Everton.
  17. That’s the one, Thanks. I knew his poster name began with an ‘F’ or something. Does he still post on here? Very quiet tonight if he does, although I suppose it was only the League Cup, so not that important - unless you live in Street.
  18. We used to have a Liverpool fan on here, who used to argue something about shots hitting the post being considered as shots on target. I seem to recall he got banned for some reason that I can’t remember, but does he still post on here under a new name? I think his old poster name might have started with the letter ‘F’.
  19. Re. the spelling of the top right word, it depends on the meaning. In fact, I believe the usual version we ‘know’ has six letters.
  20. About time too. Painful, for the green haired one and for me, watching.
