Arsenal got it right with a brilliant Dir of Football in Edu and a manager who has galvanised the club. They will win the PL this season for sure, together and intense to watch. Best defence too, all this rubbish about them bottling it, they had some key injuries last season and Man C are not as good this year.

I wish I could share your optimism, I am really fond of Arsenal, I guess you could say they are my second team- but I have a horrible feeling they will Lose next up at the Etihad and that could be a psychological blow early in the run in.

They are very good to watch though, that pass to set trosaard up last night was sublime.

I have a feeling that Manning and Tinnion will leave the club this week. JL won't want to take responsibility, so he'll lay this all at Tinnion's door, and say he has to act. The only way we can sack Manning, is if Tinnion is sacked as well. I think Lansdown ill take action by Monday morning.

    Absolutely no chance

I saw a few weeks ago a very well known poster write the word ‘behave’ when it was mentioned we could be in a relegation fight before long.

We are now six points clear of the last relegation spot, looking like ass with none of us seeing where the next win is coming from.

I’m not so sure we aren’t going to be dragged right into it!

Swansea looks an absolute crucial fixture already- a win we can breathe a bit easier a loss and we will for sure start sweating

I kind of hope we don’t see him till next season, even if he’s fit/getting fitter.

Given his problems and our recent run on returning players, absolutely no need to rush him back and he may well benefit from an extended return over the spring/summer.

Totally agree- bar a couple more wins the season is effectively over so keep the progress slow and steady and maybe if fit enough a couple of cameo appearances in the last few games before what I hope will be a full injury free pre season.

Meanwhile, the EFL confirms its stance on a potential scrapping of the 3pm television blackout rule.

Clubs in the English Football League are to have their say about potentially scrapping the 3pm television blackout rule this summer.

The rule, which was brought into force back in the 1960s, bans live football from being shown on TV between 2.45pm and 5.15pm on a Saturday. However with people’s viewing habits changing and the pandemic seeing blackout rules temporarily axed, it raises talk of Saturday 3pm games being made available to broadcast.

However, contrary to various reports, the EFL aren’t said to be actively promoting this outcome but do insist that member clubs who want change can talk about it during this summer’s AGM which takes place in June.

When football returned after the Covid break in June 2020, all EFL games were broadcast over the iFollow streaming service with fans unable to attend matches. This included those taking place at 3pm on Saturdays.

That rule remained for all of the 2020-21 campaign, which took place almost entirely behind closed doors and allowed one source of much-needed income for many clubs, though it would have been considerably less than normal gate receipts.

The temporary rule was got rid of for the start of the current season, with no restrictions on attendances inside stadiums and this meant lower amount of games streamed over iFollow, instead showing them during midweek but only if they weren’t already on Sky Sports. Speaking in October 2021, the EFL’s chair Rick Parry refused to rule out the prospect of the law being scrapped.

He said: “I don’t see (an end to the blackout) as being essential. Having said that, I don’t necessarily rule it out. We are almost unique in Europe now in having a blackout period. I’m not presuming that it goes, but equally, if we’re looking at streaming, at new technologies and new broadcasters, we will probably have to be open-minded in terms of scheduling.”

Any plans to scrap the rule would need to be passed by UEFA. Of what we know already, the decision to keep or axe the Tv blackout is a mixed one. Bradford City CEO Ryan Sparks told i news that he was in favour of the 3pm blackout being axed.

He said: “I know there’s people asking: ‘Will away fans still come?’ It’s a fear for League One or League Two clubs but they are two different markets. People who want to go to away games will still go to away games – the numbers don’t change when we have midweek games that are on iFollow. What you do get is a not inconsiderable extra revenue stream from those who wouldn’t go to the game but buy an iFollow pass. It is about opening up that new revenue stream.”

In contrast, The Football Supporters Association chairman Malcolm Clarke said earlier this season that he saw “no reason” to change the current broadcasting rules.

Another reason to raise discussion is the EFL’s existing TV deal with Sky Sports, who this season will show a total of 228 live games, is due to end in 2024 and ITV had won a two-year deal to show highlights of the competition, starting from the new season.

I may be alone in this but I really dislike the thought of Saturday 3pm games being shown live- this day and time has always been the heartbeat of the English game, where people gather pre match with friends and family to watch their team at the ground…..can only see the removal of the blackout as a sad thing

Why are you relying upon others to progress your argument? Please tell me the maximum amount of points each team can get considering lots all have to play each other?

Not every team can get maximum points. Its impossible. I thought you would know that. If we win all of our games, West Brom, Sunderland, Norwich can't. So thats minus 3 from their maximum total. When they play each other then more points will be dropped. Basic maths mate

IN MY OPINION it is in our own hands. So it doesn't matter if you tell me its not, or if someone else does, my opinion doesn't change.

Why are you trying to plant seeds? Very strange. Here's me being positive and you're trying to scold that and frame it as some agenda. Bizarre.

You are free to go back and check my posting history where I said in the summer my expectations were top 10 with us having a chance of play offs in the final games. It would be rather bizarre for me to berate us for achieving my expectations don't you think?

If you don't think we can get around 30 points, fair enough. However I do.

Pretty sure no more than ten days ago  you were saying our season was effectively over after the cup loss- now a play off place is in our own hands which it most certainly is not by the way.

I don’t think you judge, but you still take it into consideration.

Fair enough but he had only been  3 days at the club, no real time to evaluate and get to know the players both professionally and as importantly personally.

No more than a couple of training sessions as well.

I think a month or maybe even more is when you start to get a feel for what a new manager brings.

It’s been mentioned on here about 15 times this week that anyone signed after the first game couldn’t be involved in the replay.

Forest had 3 players missing because of this, I believe.

    Not everyone lives on here

Brilliant find thanks, have watched these before but couldn’t remember this.

One question I have as someone who is fascinated with football during the 70s up to mid 80s is why have the BBC not made the match of the day archives available to purchase? It’s great to watch the BIg Match when it is on but so many games and goals I  and other later have never seen will be on the bbc equivalent?
