Presumably in reverse order. Between 1962-1970 Bobby Charlton was widely regarded across the globe as the greatest midfielder in the world and a gentleman. Rooney was a wunderkind and great scorer but generally regarded as low on IQ. Gascoigne had moments of brilliance, bordering on genius, but was otherwise a bigoted ****.

    Lot of assumptions there.

Charlton best midfielder in the world? Never heard that before Rooney low IQ.? Never heard that before either.

Have you seen the result of Rooneys test? No chances are he's never taken one.

Probably the most shit i'v read on here for a while, and thats saying something.

Yes that promotion side rolls off the tongue after all these years.

AD kept the same team, and didn't sign anyone in the summer, to start the first division opening game and was rewarded with a win.

The additions came later- Hunter Cormack etc

Cashley - Sweeney Collier Merrick Drysdale - Tainton Mann Gow - Ritchie Cheesley Whitehead. Sub: Fear.

    My favourite team.

Has to be the side that beat Liverpool in 77 last home game of the season, 40,000 or more in that night.

Liverpool already league Champions then going on to win the European Cup.

  3. Well i think it's fair to say that interview went down like a sack of shit.

My take is if we stay injury free for the rest of the season then we have a chance of making the top 6.

As we all know that's not gona happen.

it really is amazing that newly promoted Plymouth have a bigger first team squad than us.

  4. I know it's late to the debate but Pearson comes across so well.

His calmness and faith in the squad is there to see, yeah he might like a couple in but the man just gets on with it with no complaints .

His judgement on young players is unparalleled at this club in my eyes.

With all the heat about signings he's just whatever.

You would like to think Lansdown watches his interviews and thinks WOW.

    Just a top man.

  5. Whoever plays in the wide positions on Saturday must be looking over their shoulder .

I know he's only 17 and has no experience but his 20 minutes last night was a breath of fresh air. Yeboah looked more effective ,and more important played with confidence.

Agree naysmith knight and Gardner-taylor for me in midfield were getting done in the midfield most weeks use the others as subs to shut the game down if needed.

I think Gardner-Taylor will come in for Tanner.

As much as i would like to see him in midfield.

Just putting out a rhetoric that fans want us to splash the cash.  We don’t.  We just want a couple of sensible signings to boost the first team squad.  For Nige to ask for that is a million miles from previous spending…and it’s completely reasonable after the cost cutting he’s done and transfer revenue earned.

I can only imagine some people didn’t watch the game.  Wells is looking sharp, worked his nuts off last night.

Wells had a good game last night he's a real team player.

Big worry for me is Tanner, he looks devoid of confidence never steams forward with the ball to make his opponent commit to making a challenge    just reaches the half way line stops and goes backwards.

He's trying so hard not to make a mistake it has the opposite affect.

Ipswich, Millwall and Plymouth, at our level (at the moment)

Fulham, Bournmouth and Villa above us but not huge clubs

    Wrexham way below us

All have foreign ownership and look to be soundly run

Don't be frightened of change, it has as much chance or working for us as against us

Villa not a huge club? If not huge there rather larger than us.

Usually I wouldn't be too concerned and say a bit of disagreement between two senior figures at a football club isn't necessarily a bad thing.

But Nige was lucky to survive the push last season and that was with Richard Gould who was more likely to fight his corner. Nige won't be afforded the same this time around.

It's a crap cliche and said too much on football, AND it's still incredibly early doors, but Nige does "need results" and he needs them pretty quickly.

Hanging around the bottom 8 isn't going to be tolerated again.

Well that's reassuring. Normally takes me a couple of months to give up on a new season  but that would be a new low.

Have to agree with a lot on here, time to pass the baton Steve. You done your best and i doff my cap, but for the better of our club sell now.

No surprise with Plymouth. Most park in the humongous free park and ride right outside with all the associated security and cameras. There isn`t a lot of street parking near Home Park and if you don`t use the p&r you`re better off getting the bus.

Can be shite to get out of Home Park when it's a big crowd. Plenty of parking off Outlands Road in PL2.3 .

If you know the area of coarse.?

I'm old enough to remember in the 60's /early 70's the fad for the "Twin Spearhead".......two big powerful guys, great in the air, no slouches on the ground, players like Ron and Wyn Davies (Wales) ,Ron Davies/ Martin Chivers (Soton), John O'hare/Kevin Hector (Derby) and even (to a lesser extent) our own John Atyeo/Brian Clark, oh ,and Hull's Ken Wagstaff and Chris Chilton.I'm sure many olduns  could rattle off a few more, and I won't even mention Geoff Bradford and Alfie Biggs !

    Billy Rafferty & Paul Mariner.

As a conscientious surfer of the world wide web, the very last thing I would want to do is accidentally click on one of those websites which stream live Premier League games for free.

Does anyone know which websites are particularly reliable so that I can make a special effort to avoid them this evening...?

    Koora live English.

There’s a few things I don’t understand about people’s reactions here. Pole vaulting to conclusions that Dave Rennie is the antichrist is one. The other is that Tommys injury somehow necessitates a signing.

As at right now, we have 5 fit strikers for 3 positions. Weimann is clearly borderline fit so that’s nearly 6 for 3. People may not rate one or more of the 5 fit strikers, but if they are part of our squad (and 3 got in ahead of TC on Saturday) then why would we need to make another signing?

Add into this, Scott is supposed to be fit for Saturday. Benarous on the way back. Weimann, as I said, was borderline Saturday. You’re then looking at 3 of the 7 back within 2-3 weeks. McCrorie we don’t know as yet, ditto Kal. But if you look at it reasonably, we have (confirmed) two players in Rob and Tommy who are out for a reasonable length. That doesn’t seem unusual in a squad of 26. Particularly when most injuries are different as opposed to, as stated, all hammies.

Or we could all panic and just burn the witch. Your call.

    Well Lance Corporal Jones would.
