If Atkinson and Massengo fit and Williams and King not, I’d be tempted to go 5 at the back, with Kalas/Atkinson/Baker and Dasilva/Tanner wing backs. James and (bit Football Manager-y maybe, but for a left sided player) Pring holding, Massengo in front of them. Up front I’d be tempted to shake up and see if something like Wells/Semenyo could cause problems. Think both Martin and Weimann, the latter in particular, less effective at home, so would expect them to be back for WBA, albeit NP tends towards players holding the shirt if playing well.

Overall probably a bit too much tinkering, but am drawn to Dasilva/Tanner as wing backs.

Yes, can not see why tanner/dasilva not weekly starters

    It’s a worry.

On the plus side, Baker and 90 minutes are not two concepts that often go together!

(And before someone posts stats of how many games he’s completed, it’s a joke…..well, kind of!)

Yeah true a fit Baker is a decent option.

But thinking Okies four injury issues for Forest game, which strikes me a big game to win and who is going to be fit .......a worry ?

Whilst I agree, I don’t think NP had much choice, Scott has played wide, but of late has looked overawed and maybe not quite ready, Palmer is pretty much wasted wide. Maybe the hope was for Wells and Wiemann to interchange and be fluid and give Tanner some support, but we never had enough of the game for that to become apparent.

As I have said I did not see the game and what you say has some hope on the wieman / wells interchange.

I just not want Wells wide . I would prefer wiemen right mid and Wells in the central role always

Yes, Bournemouth were much better, but still they only managed 2 goals from all that possession and conceded 3 or 4 very presentable chances. What I find depressing is the thought that we are years away from getting to even their level (and if we keep losing our best players we never will).

Yrs total agreement. We have to keep our best players and young academy stars  long term to give the basis to bring in players in making us a promotion side. But I still feel Mr Lansdown does not want to fund it that way. And I do feel we do need more finiscial.backing than just Lansdown if we are going to teach the promised land.

My concerns are:  poor team selection (why is Dasilva consistently left on the bench?); baffling substitutions; inability to change a game for the better.  All significant failings by Pearson, which would have resulted in howls of criticism during the last two regimes.  Last season we outplayed Bournemouth for 45 minutes at their place and forced them to change shape and tactics.  I find it very hard to regard what I saw today as progress in any shape or form.

I think you a bit harsh but I agree why is dasilva not a starter and what the hell is wells coming on for Williams. I like NP a lot and I know he is still short of the team he wants but sometimes he really does amaze me with his decisions.

But then I teach maths and mediatation and am not a football manager. ???

Fair that he picked out Tanner, Kalas, Baker & DaSilva for praise, nobody else deserved any.

Wish they had asked him why Wells was bought on for Williams, cause that made no sense  (I would have played Wells from the start). Playing Weimann or Wells wide does not suit either of them. Palmer, or Bakinson for Williams would have made more sense although Bakinson was typically lite weight when he did  come on.

As I have noted in another thread

. Why Wells on for Williams rather than Scott or Palmer. It makes no sense at all.  I am done with any sense in playing Wells wide ever. No point at all play him central or don't play him and sell. Scott or Palmer every time in that role. I like NP he will do well I hope. But this Wells issue is now beyond a joke or any sense at all.

Wells out wide is such a waste of a proven goalscorer

What worrys me is that does NP not trust Scott or Palmer to do the right side of midfield job in a big game ? Because Wells right midfield is so wrong at 10 minutes.

And I know I was not watching the game but it just worrys me on so many levels

Yes, out on the edge of the city, nearer to the motorway, drive or car share is easiest.

£60 on the train and change at New Street

Is the train station walking distance from the ground then ?
