I watched the Jackson trilogy, it was an incredible feat of technical work and direction and I could admire it for that. I have always preferred my SF and Fantasy to be more of the "what if" type to some extent. Space Odyssey over Star Wars, alternative universes and timelines to fairy tales. I think generally for me, it has to be either very serious or fully tongue in cheek to engage me.

I think "colour blind casting" as they call it is great. The most recent Dickens adaptation, A Personal History of David Copperfield being the best example I have seen. I haven't watched the LOTR stuff so @B1ackbird may be entirely correct about it being rubbish for other reasons. I watched about 5 minutes of the Hobbit movie on Channel 4 last night and I find all those silly names for people and places so Monty Python I can't stop laughing.

Bit happier today though presumably? Just out of interest I don't have a team, I just developed an interest whilst holidaying in the US. I take a bit of interest in the Pittsburgh Pirates, because they had a winter training camp near where we had our timeshare in Florida, and I saw them training one day. I also visited the Fenway when we toured New England, even in a traditional City like Boston it looked the oldest building in America. I really enjoy the game though and the similarities and differences to cricket, I would love to go and see a live game, it's on my bucket list.

Interesting conundrum today for Joey. The Stanley Manager describes himself as a friend of his, but he has only played and Managed around the lower leagues and is nearly 60 years old both of these things have riled him up with other Managers. So will he be dismissed as a "dinosaur" or a "P E Teacher"? I guess it depends on whether they come and play the right kind of football, and an acceptable formation.
