Sky are struggling at the moment and are laying off or cutting wages on many employees, so it won’t be a big money move from another broadcaster I doubt.

I do wonder where the whole Sky sports is heading, I think subscribers are down, there’s more choices and they don’t have blanket coverage of sports like they used to.

I know I’m thinking of quitting my membership when it runs out in a few months, mainly because of the ridiculous price increase a few months ago. I know they’ll offer a deal but I don’t think I’ll give them a second chance this time.

Out of interest how much is Sky and Sky Sports nowadays? I cut the cord years ago.

I worked with someone who used to moan all through the football season because she lived near Selhurst Park when both Palace and Wimbledon were playing there meaning that cars were parked everywhere and the traffic was terrible before and after the game.

She must have know that there was a football stadium nearby when she bought it; I had just assumed that anyone buying a house or flat near a football ground is doing so because they intend going to watch it and it must be great to be able to walk there in a few minutes and turn out for every youth and reserve game.

Living by the ground is great, albeit not without the odd frustration. As City & Bears season ticket holders it's ace; sitting in your garden with a free Killers, Manics, Muse, Arctic Monkeys etc concert too is a bonus, as well as making a few quid for parking off gullible gig go-ers with more money than sense. But anyone who moves here and then has the gall to bellyache about it all is a bit much really.

I live on Luckwell road- no qualms about matchday parking, pretty clear what you’re signing up for. My issue is the amount of flats they’re chucking up (without parking) in the area. I’d be in favour of an RPZ, but it won’t happen under Marv- I’m sure I read that they did a poll that was largely in favour of bringing one in here, but said not enough voters turned out so it didn’t count. Interesting way to do a poll.

As a fellow BS3 (Smyth Rd) resident I think the poll was done by Mark Bradshaw a while back, maybe a couple of years. Support for RPZ south of North St was only marginally ahead of no restrictions so I think it kinda got kicked into the long grass. The most recent stuff I have heard about RPZ is that the council are looking at potentially scrapping them. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/bristol-residents-parking-zone-permits-8503430

Not forgetting though that there was a stipulation after the AG rebuild that if there were a certain number of games in a row that exceeded (I think) 20,000 attendance then the club itself had to fund & implement a matchday parking scheme in the surrounding roads. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/ashton-gate-survey-residents-matchday-1237820

To sum it up: nothing will change.

Purple and lime will always be my preference.

I would expect it will be used as an engagement opportunity when we have a lull or have completed our transfer activity

Yeah once they stop tweeting about the Arctic ****ing Monkeys eh.

Well there was a big debate on here about whether Joey even cared about money, and that might still not be the factor (probably is).

But yeah I can't take my red-tinted glasses off when I think about this potential signing.

Don't get me wrong, I'd quite like to see him back down here. But only if he's good enough and fits into the wage-structure. And more importantly, that he wants to be here.

If you're a City fan and minted, there's only one choice.

ex-footballers, even those that have had decent spells in the Prem on big money, are an awful long time retired. He's a clever lad, he'll know that he needs to maximise what might be his last decent move/contract and I'd easily expect clubs a bit more desperate/flamboyant with their cash than us would be prepared to push the boat a bit further than we would for him. City fan or not, this is going to be a transaction for him, not some rose-tinted return "home"
