I was at that game too. Some years ago I was chatting to theirGary Phillips, their goalkeeper at that time - Lovely bloke. When I told him I was a City fan he instantly recalled that match, remembering our fans being none too friendly. Said some of ours smashed the dressing room window to try to get at their players after the match,/warm downs. Was Droy the big bloke? Said he squared up to some of our fans outside the ground after the match.

Think it was Terry Evans… Talking to myself now!

Andy Sinton booted one in from 25 yards (first time I’d seen him).  Did a young Millen play?  Just looked it up, New Year’s Day 87/88 season….Gary Blisset 2 Andy Sinton 1.  Rix was on loan (from HMP ?)

Yes I think you are correct, some years ago, guessing over 30

Had to look it up. Think it must have been November 91

I remember some wag In the City end asking ‘Anyone want to buy a boat?’ During the minute’s silence for Robert Maxwell ?

Always remember some years ago an away game at Oxford where the fog was that thick the 1st we knew city had scored was when the players came running back celebrating.

I reckon that was 1-1 and both goals were at the Oxford end so didn’t see either

  5. Went for a stroppy fast paced walk towards the end with us 2-1 down, keeping an eye on the score then giving up.

At 16.53 I get a text from my 18 y\o daughter who was up there saying “Fell down stairs limbs”

Thought it might be just a delayed message from the first equaliser, so was delighted when I checked the result. She gave me a quick call to say their fans were very loud when they scored “But we silenced them at the end Dad!” ?

City 1-0 Crystal Palace - December 2008. Maynard after 2 mins

We were good under GJ at holding onto 1-0 leads it seems..

I’m sure I recall the following season  Freddie Sears scoring against us in the first half for Palace, but we came back with a very late Maynard winner to win 1-0 ?

  7. The security checks couldn’t  have helped as many would have got in just before kick off. I try to spend my couple of quid with the club if I can. There was no queue for coffee and shortbread which was handy otherwise would have been a choice between getting drink/food or missing kick off.

Gotta be honest, that is cracking midweek away support.

That is great midweek away support. Worth bearing in mind though it’s their first time at Salford so a new ground to visit.
I went to Salford with a Plymouth mate for a Tuesday night match in Feb 19 and they took over a thousand.

The fans have been pretty patient so far. What was the reaction like from the away support at the end today?

Let’s just say there are unlikely to be any “Full time scenes” or “Fan cam” YouTube postings from the club for this one.

Really uncertain as to whether to go today. Dr's orders are to rest at home with an injured achilles, but for some reason I have unwarranted optimism that today is the day for the first win at home.

I could be left disappointed and in great pain, or I could miss out on the fun...

Feels to me like today’s the day too, although I can’t see it being fun for long parts of the afternoon.

The issues of ticketing and standing often crop up. It went way way beyond that yesterday.

Setting off flares in a very confined concourse area is about as selfish, thoughtless and dangerous as it gets.

During both medical emergency delays there was a rush to the bars (as if that was all people could think of) and abuse, threats, fighting to try to get there.

What I found most embarrassing of all was the response of some of our fans to those people, stewards, police and medics, who were doing their level best to help a City fan who was clearly very very unwell. At Newcastle that was recognised with a chant of “hero’s”. All I heard from some of our fans yesterday was a chant of “you don’t know what you’re doing”.

And is it just me who thought the chant of “City till I die” while the gentleman was being treated and then taken out of the stand whilst clearly unwell was a bit inappropriate?

    Really?

313 - Bristol Rovers fans at Hartlepool United (273 miles Sat)
430 - Bristol City fans at Middlesbrough (263 miles Sat)

1,051 -  Bristol Rovers fans at Exeter City (80 miles Sat)
2,100 - Bristol City fans at Reading (77 miles Tues)

Additionally, West Brom away. City sold out 2,000 allocation 3 weeks before the match.

Rovers at Walsall (virtually same distance) took nowhere near that amount

Another small factor is league 2 match tickets will on average be cheaper than Championship tickets
