  1. Seems a risky strategy if West Ham and others are strengthening too.  Doesn’t feel like it would need much investment to secure our WSL place for next season.  The existing squad has improved no doubt over the last few months but you have to think we need a couple more quality additions or we’ll be in trouble.

So much to admire about it but one slight detail impressed me more than anything. Not sure if it’s been mentioned, can’t be bothered to read through everything!

The knocked down by Knight was clever, the ball from Williams was quality (would be shown repeatedly if Messi had produced it) and the finish outstanding.

But the most impressive thing for me was Conway’s first touch. I can’t stop watching it. Williams brilliant pass was pinged to Conway. Conway’s touch at that point was from the heavens! Again, if it was Messi you’d never hear the end of it. I’m not sure if Conway could take a touch like that again in his whole career.

Even watching it again now sends a chill down my spine! What a moment and what a goal it was. Four brilliant touches between Knight, Williams and Conway, but Conway’s first touch was the one for me.

Really good point about the 4 quality touches.  We’ve had lots of other chances in recent matches where we’ve tried some quick 1 touch moves and if not for 1 heavy pass we would have been in.  I’m just pleased we’re trying stuff like this.

  3. I believe it was in use but wasn’t required for any major decisions so you wouldn’t have been aware of it.  Have to say it should be all matches or nothing for each competition in my opinion.

  4. Just managed to fix this by logging into my ticket account, selecting my season ticket and then re-downloading the pass to my wallet.  Not sure why it didn’t do it automatically tho.

My ticket hasn’t updated for the Millwall match yet. I’ve done the usual stuff (turning automatic updates off and on etc) with no luck. Anybody else had this issue I’d be grateful for any help. Thanks in advance.

    Blair is a ****

Yep.  The idea got short shrift from the Northern Irish football authorities (as did the better known Dublin plans by the Irish FA).  The annoying thing reading this stuff is the (predictable) total lack of a mention of the Wimbledon fans by anyone in a government position.  There was literally no thought given to them at all.  For the politicians it was all about politics and for Sam Hammam it was all about the money.

    Play offs.

Only 4 of the squad that night have played in the Prem since (Brownhill, Reid, Bryan, Kelly).

What could have been with a couple of really good additions in January though.  It’s easy to underestimate the feel good factor that a cup run or momentum from promotion can bring (Ipswich, Luton etc).  Definitely feels like an opportunity which slipped through our fingers.  The problem with us is that we have to wait another decade for the next chance

  8. The Bryan goal is not often shown in full - the lovely chip over the player at the start and then the run is just brilliant, let alone the finish.  The noise when that went in was incredible, I can’t remember louder and I was in the east end for Hartlepool.  My main feeling watching this back though is just how much I miss Korey Smith ,  what a player and what a guy.

Which is pretty amazing, considering he'd been in and around the first team for what seemed to be years, and only when LJ decided to make him a striker did he start to look like a player.

Prior to that, I think most people were coming to the conclusion that he was a waste of a wage and that he was never going to be a starter.

Bobby is an interesting one.  You could see he had technique but he didn’t seem to physically develop for ages which probably delayed his progress.  LJ discovered his super power (? by accident) when he moved him up front - he’s one of the best pressers I’ve ever seen.

  10. Going back to Saturday briefly - I went with the family and it was great, thought we were the better team.  I was a bit surprised how poorly supported Liverpool are. I’m sure they got less this week as we aren’t a big draw as an away side and I know they only came up to the WSL recently (although isn’t that the same for Man Utd?) but given the potential cross over support from the Men’s side their attendances aren’t great. In fact the same goes for several other teams in the WSL.  I wonder if there hasn’t been much integration between the Men’s & Women’s teams in these premier league clubs.  Joint PR etc really helps grow the support base.

  11. Whilst we are on the topic of kit men I’d like to recommend ‘Marvellous’ if you haven’t already seen it (unfortunately only available on amazon to rent / buy at the moment but it often returns to terrestrial TV).  It’s one of my favourite movies of any genre but football fans will love it just that little bit more.

    Decision making again for me.

Two or three times the ball was with Anis and instead of going to the corner and eating up precious time he went towards goal or played a low percentage chance of success cross. That isn’t to say he wasn’t exciting and didn’t attack well generally when he came on - and it was levels above QPR - but he needs to learn to manage a game. There was one incident where Joe Williams did a fantastic win and played it to him in the corner in stoppage time. Hold the ball there, don’t play a quick low cross to the keeper that allows the break.

If he plays like that minutes 1-85 no objections. But he needs to play the situation, not the instinct all the time.

I’m sure you’re right about his decision making but does ‘keeping the ball in the corner’ usually work for eating up time? Im sure if Messi does it he can keep it there for ages but seems to me that ordinary footballers very quickly concede a goal kick which give the other team a chance to pump the ball back down the other end.  Yesterday Mehmetti attacked and kept them on the back foot, won a corner too I think? That eats up more time.

Fwiw, I thought the noise and willingness to get behind the team today, will them over the line  was better than it’s been in ages

The ‘Come On you reds!’ which rang around the ground when we were seeing out the injury time was the loudest in ages
