Out of interest, how would you sell City to a prospective new manager?

Give them the unvarnished truth - diabolical FFP position, squad that requires radical surgery with no money available and wages out of control, no scouting network, owner with one eye on selling up?

Who the heck would be interested in that?

We got Nige in a worse situation didn’t we?

Selling players raises revenue and that would enable Nige to recruit new players.. It’s a method that Brentford have adopted for a number of seasons.by signing like for like or improving on what they’ve sold.

It reflects not only how effective their recruitment set up is but also how skilled their manager is at signing the right players.

Something we're completely and utterly useless at most of the time. Transfer policy was one step forward two steps back for a long while.

Not sure why you’ve labelled him ‘Fwank’ - strange. I feel for Frank Lampard, what a fantastic footballer he was (his work ethic during and after training sessions is well documented and is amazing) and what a top bloke he appears to be - listen to his exchange with James O’Brien on the radio way back when he called in on the anniversary of his Mum’s death to take O’Brien to the cleaners when that vile presenter broadcast that Lampard was a bad father - he had O’Brien squirming and backtracking. Frank is obviously a decent guy who is desperate to do well as a manager when he doesn’t need the dosh. He just wants to be still involved and he is trying so hard to get success ... “Fwank”?! ... embarrassing...

Non-leading question - who comes in? Will they do better with this squad? How will they circumvent the financial issues we have?

Ah, the questions that none of the people screaming for Pearson to go can ever answer.

Someone with a proven track record and experi..... wait

Fans want overnight fixes to complex problems . It’s tiresome that so few understand the depth of a mess we have at the club . Change feels good because it means you enter another phase of uncertainty and something has happened . But if you keep doing that without fixing deep rooted issues at the club it matters little . We have done this for 20 years . Yet here we are again with a group of average over paid  players . In the past we got relegated during this phase .

the issue this summer is not Pearson , it is recruitment .

Overnight fixes? How long has he been here now. I’m not disagreeing with the rest of your post but I feel it’s fine to say he’s been given enough time for us to expect some sort of improvements. And imo we have seen some

I've no doubt that's true but I also struggle to think of comparable defenders available on a free last summer who were better than Baker. Tom Lees was the other serious rumour. He might have been better in hindsight but he was not a definite upgrade and it might be he would have chosen Huddersfield anyway. Once we decided we were spending the bulk of the budget on Atkinson, re-signing Baker was probably the sensible move at the time.

I hope we use the loan system to help our defence. It’s tragic to watch. The amount of crosses we let into the box makes my head spin

If that's the level we aspire to then so be it.....that's why we won't progress in this division.

Kalas is the same...good enough for us but not a good player.

    Otib won’t like that one.

I find when a championship club is happy to stay mid table in the championship it means they’re in some danger of going down, or have plenty rubbish displays like we’ve seen this season. we reek of that attitude, it’s just not a very exciting time to be a fan. 5 years ago there was an ambitious vibe about us, I don’t get those same vibes at all. It’s more like we’re clinging on. When people blame stuff on kalas I laugh, he’s clearly surrounded by poor players, I actually feel sorry for him.

Def not the 4th top scoring team.

Okay I just checked, I remember we were pretty high up last I paid attention to it. It’s still not bad. I thought we were still high up there but not anymore it seems

  9. This is good, aren’t we 4th top goal scoring team? He’s been a part of that all season.  I’d be okay with it if our attack stays the same in the summer. We just need to fix the defence

  10. I'm still not convinced by the no-loan policy it seems NP has? Our best league finish we had some first team loanees, was it Kalas and Dasilva?

Those two were fantastic that season. Without those two I'm not convinced we would've finished so high. There is just some calibre of players we will never reach without using the loan system. Can't deny the loan system has been somewhat good to us over the years it feels like.

  11. Maybe a bit controversial. But I'm kinda predicting us to come out of the summer window with a smaller possibly weaker squad. I think we're in for a rough ride.

I think it's clear to see we've got youth talent playing well at this level that'll attract interest. They'll go if enough is offered. I don't have much faith in this club's ability to replace them well enough.

However, if we can hold onto those bright shines of light players we have I will feel more optimistic.

The signing clearly didn't work out, but I'm slightly confused why people are quite so vitriolic about this one in particular?

We signed someone on a short term contract with good football pedigree - three promotions wasn't it... He played a bit, but seems to now be past it.

    What's the huge deal exactly?

Just feels like we have not the best record of signing "has beens" and it kinda reeked of it from the start that he was another. I find it hard to get excited when City sign "has beens" anymore. We'll probably sign another in the summer.

That's how I feel about it anyways, not a huge deal but frustrating how often they don't work out well.
