  1. PS - one point off the play offs, but also one point off the bottom half. And with 37 games still to go, there are 111 points still to play for. So it means very little at this stage and I certainly wouldn't be going onto a rival club's forum to crow about being a point off the play offs after 9 games. It's embarrassing.
  2. Do you not realise how pathetic and small-minded it sounds when you say you're "coming for us"? Is it really the limit of your aspiration to supersede our own limited achievements? And do you really think we are losing sleep over the tiny possibility of a League One team with an inferiority complex and tents for stands one day catching up with us, while we compete in the top half of the Championship in our new 27,000 seater stadium? I try to be fairly objective when it comes to our rivalry but you really don't help yourselves sometimes.
  3. Surely he can't mean that?! Great win and everything but we're not at Palace / Hartlepool levels are we. Depends how old you are and how many games you've been to I suppose.
  4. So, I'm home alone this weekend, having packed off the wife and kids to the inlaws yesterday so I could decorate the kids rooms. I woke up this morning and really fancied going to the game. The Mrs would have killed me if she'd come home and the decorating wasn't done, but I reckoned I could "go dark" all day, be home by 8pm-ish, and pull an all-nighter to get it finished. I was all set to go, but I bottled it at the last minute, expecting a draw at best but suspecting a defeat. Now I'm absolutely gutted!
  5. Well regardless of the fact it's Rovers, I don't mind saying I'm glad they won tonight. It means there is at least some justice for Swindon's detestable decision to charge again. Swindon deserved nothing from that game and I'm glad that's exactly what they got. As for those attempting to mock the Rovers fans for their poor turnout, you miss the point entirely. In my eyes, the fewer they took tonight, the more impressive it would have been.
  6. I'd love to show up to this and play the dumb student... "So, are there any other clubs in the area?" "Oh right, so what division to they play in?" "Oh. So do they play in a stadium with tents for stands too, or is something a little more up-together?" "Oh OK. Sorry, why exactly would I choose this option?"
  7. That's not a rant @chipdawg, that's a very measured post under the circumstances!
  8. Nice one @RedDave. It's bewildering when you've been out all night and then you come home and you're trying to work out what the hell has happened! That was very helpful.
  9. Can you not see that you are embarrassing yourself and your fellow supporters when you make up blatant lies like this? What a pathetic way to represent your club.
  10. Certainly a lot to be said for judging a result when it's actually a result.
  11. If he's from another town nearby that also has a football league side, surely that is of no consequence whatsoever. That's like saying a Swindon ref would favour us.
  12. Football clearly means far too much to you if you seriously think you can form judgements on large groups of people based on what team they support. I know plenty of Rovers supporters and they are all decent people who happen to have been unlucky enough to be born into the wrong team. I suspect that applies to the majority.
  13. I guess some of us are able to take a broader view on whether its right or not to charge fans again for a match that was declared null and void after 59 minutes the first time around, regardless of the teams involved. I happen to like my colleague at work who attended the first game and I don't believe he has ever punched a horse or indulged in any of the activities you describe, in the same way that not all of us have vandalised the memorial gates. So yes I do have sympathy for him.
  14. The game stopped in the 60th minute i.e. fractionally before an hour had been played - however that's not really the point. The club should do the decent thing rather than hide behind the letter of the law. Would you be happy to pay again having paid once for a match that was ultimately null and void, having watched only two-thirds? Incidentally does anyone know if we had to pay again after the floodlight failure against Liverpool?!
  15. Swindon season ticket holders get to go for free, everyone else including Rovers away supporters have to pay again. Clarke hasn't misled anyone. Also the game was abandoned on 59 minutes - but that's neither here nor there in my opinion. It's about doing the right thing, not hiding behind the letter of the law. The Rovers fans have incurred travel costs and spent money on tickets to watch an event that was ultimately null and void. There is nothing "honourable" about it, it's a disgrace.
  16. As part of the wider "football family" we should not be celebrating this, regardless of the club involved. It is a disgrace.
  17. A long way to go, but Johnson's ability to influence a game at half time is impressive. Certainly not the first time we've seen this.
  18. Sorry but I don't think we're "too good" to lose three games against Norwich, Newcastle and Villa. Equally if we were to lose today I wouldn't be worried about losing three in a row - those teams are hardly representative of the division as a whole. I'd say our results so far suggest a mid table finish and regardless of today's result I think that's where we're likely to end up.
  19. I have included Villa as the dodgy one in my accumulator. Big fan of the compensation bet.
  20. True gas logic there. Unless they are filling the ground every week (they aren't), then % capacity is irrelevant. As a true comparison of support I always use our most recent Wembley visits as the barometer. For a game against Walsall in the paint pot trophy, we took over 40k. For arguably the most important game in Rovers history, Rovers took less than 30k. No further questions your honour.
  21. You're absolutely right, ties against Scunthorpe and Chelsea are definitely comparable.
  22. I'm not slating the fans; respect to them for making the effort to queue for a ticket on a weekday morning. I am slating the club for making them do that in the Internet age.
  23. Also, would I want to support a club who forces me to take a morning off work and spend £10 on fuel to queue for a ticket I have no guarantees of getting, in the Internet age? No thanks. They are stuck 20 years in the past.
