  1. I just can’t be arsed with any of this any more. 8 days ago we were talking about a possible play off push, now we’re calling for the manager’s head.

We win a few, we lose a few, we draw a few. Sometimes we manage to win a couple in a row, and we’re all talking us up. Then we lose a couple in a row and it’s all doom and gloom. Right now we are 12th in the table; the very definition of mid-table.

People pick a run of games to support their argument; currently it’s fashionable to pick the last 10 games, because it’s poor and supports the idea that the manager is failing. If you pick the last four, we’ve won two and lost two. Average. If you look over 34 games - the entire season - there are 12 clubs doing worse than us, and 11 doing better. Probably about par for the squad.

It all amounts to quibbling over the details, while the reality is: we are a mid table club, with a mid table squad, getting mid table results.

None of this is a defence of Manning, nor is it an attempt to justify the clearly-unjustified sacking of Pearson. Tinnion and Jon Lansdown clearly don’t have any leadership skills or any natural air of authority to inspire confidence. The “top six” claim is a noose around their necks.

I don’t really know where I’m going with this. But I’m just tired of the constant cycle of vague optimism, then inevitable disappointment and the equally inevitable calls for the manager’s head. Somehow we need to break out of this cycle because it’s so tedious and it’s been the same for years. Pretty much my entire 40 years on earth, in fact.

I don’t really have a point here! I’m just a bit fed up. But I’m really not convinced that yet again blaming the manager is the answer for a club that’s been serving up generous lashings of bang-averageness for decades now.

The membership page on the club website states that each member can claim “2 free tickets to a match of their choice” this season.  I can’t for the life of me find out how to do that on the ticket site though.  Has anyone done it successfully? Thanks in advance

This only applies to junior memberships (U19 and younger).

    Isn't it for Women's games / or under 21s?

It won't be for City men's, not at £20 for a membership.

It is. It’s why I tell people who are thinking of bringing their child for the first time to get them a membership straight away; for £25 (not £20) it comes with a free adult and child ticket to any league game of your choice. Works out cheaper than just buying two tickets.

Could be wrong, but think the last one is Paterson against Hull behind closed doors, think he scored one against Derby a couple of seasons before as well.

I don’t know what the average would be for average championship teams, so don’t know if we’re noticeably poor at them or not. For example, when did we last concede from one? And how many would we usually concede in any season?

I could be wrong, but my belief based on next to nothing is that like scoring from corners it’s something that most fans of most teams are always bemoaning how bad they are unless they are outstandingly good.

I remember that one, he did very well to get it up and over the doors.

Aspin & Struck return to starting XI. Evans & Syme dropped to bench

Bentley returns to matchday squad but only makes the bench. Harrison out with injury & Stratigakis out with illness

Any idea why we had two keepers (Bentley and Clark) on the bench?!

Obviously each game is an opportunity for 3 points but realistically that’s not going to happen so you do end up framing games, if I’d have asked most city Fans would you have taken 6 out of 9 from these 3 then most would have bitten your hand off.

Of course we would but that doesn’t suddenly mean the points today are “extra” or the Southampton points become meaningless if we don’t win today. I just don’t get that narrative.

If we lose today and end up in the play offs by a point, the Southampton result still mattered.

Huge game today. Southampton result means nothing without 3 points against QPR.

Not sure about that as I’d have taken 6/9 points from Boro, Southampton and QPR - todays points are extras

How about with stop artificially trying to frame groups of results, and just say every game is an opportunity for three points, and the more we win the better of chances of finishing in the play offs?

  8. The photos from this week make me wonder if the problem is less unused child season tickets and more people moving to the Lansdown when there’s plenty of space in there.

Yes, it was half term, but most people don’t go away in February - and I would have expected the fact that kids weren’t at school the next day to mean more would have attended than usual.

I drove down from Yate to get one for my son and there were none there - around 12. If they did take them off sale it’s really poor form as they would have known people were coming down especially as they knew it was limited stock (and there was no statement of a Saturday second drop yesterday so the inference was that we had the stock going on sale today and that’s it).

It might be about trying to create demand but it’s a pretty shitty way to do it if true.

Shambles. This is exactly why all the stock should have been online - they would have sold the lot quickly last night and no one would have wasted a journey. In addition to a click and collect service for those who want it.

As usual, we’re piss poor at the basics.

So, the big question is, with these shirts selling so fast, will they do another production run?

Once produced, it must be easier to make more?

One of my favourite shirts was a red polo shirt with the old club badge on. As it was low key, smart casual, you could wear it at times when a match shirt was not appropriate and only those stood close to you could pick up the name on the crest.

Surely they will, there’s clearly money to be made.

On the other hand you'd be gutted if you'd dragged your cookies all the way down to the shop only to find they'd all been sold online.

Equally you could get to the shop and not find your size available having made a special trip. It cuts both ways.

  12. 13 minutes ago, richwwtk said:

Another 70 or 80 online would have sold out just as quickly as the first batch did. Having no stock at all in the shop would have caused uproar.

I don’t really see how it’s any worse than having no stock online. Just make everything available via every sales channel and when it’s sold, it’s sold.

This also opens up the possibility of someone making a special trip and not finding their size - or even any stock at all - when they get there.

Just brought mine in store got let in early I was outside at 07:30 first and only person in line quality shirt about 70/80 on racks

    Fair play that’s commitment!

70 or 80 that could be online though, saving special trips. Don’t get it.

Firstly, I really like the shirt.  Nice one.

At what point does continually doing retro become passé / boring?

In this instance, I think it’s as much about the simplicity of the design as much as it is the “retro” feel.

No sponsors, no manufacturers logo, no fussy design features. Just a nice, clean design in a vibrant shade of red.

If you could have a modern kit with a similarly simple design, I think people would love that too.

  15. Why do they do this? I don’t get it. Pretty much all of us have access to the internet, but lots of us don’t live anywhere near BS3.

Why not just make everything available online?

We’re so crap at this stuff.

    It really isn’t.

It’s a polyester t shirt for £50. Of course it’s ridiculous. You’ve just become so used to paying silly money for football shirts that you’ve become blind to how overpriced it all is.

Simple and bloody lovely. Less is more!

    There’s a lesson there.

So, already sold out online. Is there ANY hope of us actually getting another batch in?! We are so hopeless at stock management and anticipating level of demand.

Sorry - two separate posts really, they got merged!

I've not watched a game on Sky sports for a while, but thought she was the face of EFL football

Then thought I'd not seen her on anything on sky for a while

Looking at her X account she's not posted since new year's day

Any idea what has happened to her?

It is a bit odd, hope she’s OK. No updates to her Instagram since Jan 1st either. Quite a few people have tweeted her asking her if she’s OK, without reply.
