Whichever way you dress it up, I can only speak for myself, next season will be the LAST season under the current ownership that they get my UNCONDITIONAL SUPPORT in terms of a season ticket being bought. With the current manager and tv deal upcoming meaning potentially daft kick off times my choices in future seasons will be entirely conditional. If I don't like what I see I won't be buying. Treat me like a customer and I'll act like one from now on. Enough is enough under this regime. Everyone has their own cut-off point and mine is being reached that's for sure.

That's completely fair enough. With the exception of Cotterill's title-winning season, we've been lacklustre for many years

Another statistic....if you take the 13 games played in the league this year he's achieved twelve points, that is terrible.

Also, going through a rough patch doesn't immediately mean a manager is out of his depth. Shortly after the start of the 22-23 season, Pearson managed 10 points from 13 games - with probably a batter group of players

    He 100% is

If you take his last 16 league games, he's won six of them. That's a win percentage of 37.5. That's not terrible. And during that time, we've also beaten West Ham and drawn with Forest twice.

    Nor me.

Do you honestly think that I want to be right about the Lansdowns being incompetent, egotistical, narcissistic w*****s, or Tinnion being a backstabbing snake in the grass, or Manning being so out of his depth he could rival the Titan submersible?

    No. I don't.

But the evidence is there. For years in the case of the Lansdowns.

    So I am.

He isn't out of his depth

I haven't seen a manager getting pelters like this after so short a time since S'Od and his brief tenure here. Surely the owner/chairman can't let this go on much longer? People are starting to stay away and that must say more than anything.

Even if we scraped a win today I don't think Manning will win anyone over.

    Dead man walking

To be fair, no manager in Bristol City's history has been handed such a poisoned chalice (i.e. being brought in following an unpopular sacking). That's amplified his shortcomings massively.

And to be fair, many people would've stayed away today due to it being a lunchtime kickoff on Mother's Day.

This has to be the straw that broke the camels back today. No fight from the players. The battling qualities they had under Pearson seems to have disappeared. For a "derby" only swans fans making any noise as city fans can't believe what we are seeing

Shame on them if that's the case. They get paid a lot of money and people pay a lot of money to watch them

It’s a poor interview. It obviously isn’t his forte, but he takes no personal responsibility.

He just deflects most of his answers to this perceived idea that the players need to adjust to his methods

The answer about the impact he can have on games was clumsily worded, listened to it back a couple of times and I think he does ultimately mean things like set pieces rather than as a whole.

He doesn’t seem like a motivating character at all, and I can see players becoming frustrated with him.

I also didn’t like the implication that fan concerns are vapid and fickle - yes they can be reactionary, but cut away the hyperbole and the key points many people raise are usually valid and considered. Especially as they include the context of the competency of the decision makers and reasons for those decisions.

I’m not quite sure he ‘gets’ us as a fanbase. The only other managers in recent-ish history I also thought this about were McInnes and SO’D.

Pearson was obviously a far better communicator, and I think this likely gained him some leeway with support - but I do feel he made the effort to understand our fanbase - for example he’d have known the significance of the Cardiff game in terms of rivalry.

He’s really got to get a win on Sunday. It’s perhaps even more significant considering Swansea appointed Williams recently who was seen as another likely pick for our vacancy. Losing again would just reinforce that the appointment, and the decision makers behind it, just don’t make correct calls.

I thought it was a good interview on the whole. He's an articulate and intelligent guy

    OMG!!! Not a ******* gen!

With half the squad out injured, a 17yo making his debut in defence and a bench completely full of kids!

We played bloody well considering (remember the ball rolling along the line?).

Played well but lost, just like Tuesday BUT WITH FAR FEWER AVAILABLE FIT PLAYERS!

    Jeeez...

Who was the 17 year old making his debut in defence?

I'd argue that the available players were very similar in both games

In what way did you think we were really good?  I’m not saying we were shit, but keen to understand what others saw in Tuesday’s performance that is getting such praise.

Well, we scored two goals away to a high-flying team, led twice, made Ipswich look ordinary for all of the first half, and generally worked really hard

He did get longer AG, but to be brutally honest, it appears the longer ‘time on the grass’ Liam gets, the worse the players become.  It’s a very worrying trend for me and is why I’ve got little optimism that LM is likely to turn it round.

Definitely hope I’m wrong and he improves very quickly, or it’ll will be a very uncomfortable end of the season for us.

That's a fair opinion, though i think we looked really good against Ipswich

It seemed likely it would come to an end, great job done by NP but there wasn’t much to signal (in my opinion) that he would take us to the next level.. I should also add LM has not provided any indication of that either

we would be fighting for playoffs Based on what? the capitulation based on the same data set from last season seems to suggest we wouldn’t be

So what we can deduce from these stats is that neither Manning nor Pearson performed particularly well, but Pearson performed slightly less bad than Manning

You're making this a Manning Vs Pearson debate in order to distract from the current situation which is 4 losses in a row and 23 points from 21 games. If any manager delivered that sort of record then the mood is going to be exactly the same.

Personally I can't see any situation where a 'give him time' with a squad already good enough for top 10 would have people be forgiven of our regression.

Manning has shown absolutely nothing that even with time, he'll come good.

You mention about excuses for Pearson but then 90% of your post is excuses for Manning.

Pearson managed 12 points from his first 15 games?

I’m not sure why a number of people are talking up last night’s DEFEAT in isolation as if it’s a turning point when, for the last ten and a half weeks, our record is shockingly bad. It’s marooned at the bottom of the table by miles form. 35-36 points per season form.

It's not shockingly bad. We drew with and then beat Premier League West Ham, drew with Premier League Forest twice, beat high-flying Southampton, won away at Boro, drew away at Coventry...

    It's really not.

Yes we were not in the relegation zone but we were dropping down the table like a lead balloon. Had Holden of remained, had we of gotten the appointment wrong, we'd have gone down.

3 wins out of 15 wasn't it? Not exactly great

I was encouraged as well. - up to a point. Manning got his tactics right particularly in the first half when our high block kept them penned their own half.

Unfortunately second 45 Ipswich found a way to counter the block by utilising width on both wings.Their substitutions made a significant difference as well. Countering a block either deep or high that both QPR and Cardiff adopted but Manning couldn’t come up with a strategy to counter it.

He really looks as if  he’s out of his depth.

We gave them a really good game in the second half. I imagine most Ipswich fans would say that was one of the tougher games they've had all season

    Dear Nigel

Yes me again, so sorry. Just wanted to update you in case you weren't watching on Sky.

We are now on a run of four straight defeats heading into the match against Swansea at the weekend. We also have a mounting injury list, turns out the injuries weren't your fault after all!

Could I ask a big favour, could you send Liam some coaching plans on how to set a team up to defend? I promise I won't let him take the credit when we stop conceding goals every single match.

    Love

    Jon

To be fair, it took a long time to get that right
