I don't like the thought of a Loan With an Option as it's always in the back of my mind that it may not happen (see TGH)

That's a 'me' problem though and in fairness these deals really help FFP and cash flow as helps spread payments, Spurs have done this really effectively last few years and gives them so much more wriggle room now. Protects us a little against injury and gives us 6 months to embed. These deals are normally sorted so the Contract is arranged as well so in theory no chance of losing to a bigger club if he does well as we just push the button.

Seems a really good signing, as others have mentioned if we had done this the day after selling Scott I think we'd have been happy (or as happy as we can be having just sold Scott).

What's happened to the TGH deal? Is it off? Have i missed something?

  2. Events this year have shown to me that we are run by classless owners who don't miss an opportunity to disappoint whenever they're presented with a chance to show maturity and professionalism (and god forbid a chance to earn some resepct back from fans). Would it be too much for them to show a small level of appreciation and acknowledge Pearson's time here? Especially at this time of year. No, not surprised at all by the way they continue to behave.

  3. When i was in Malia back in 98 i was in a sports bar and there were team photos on the wall of all the big Premier League and European clubs....down in the corner was the team photo, cut out from a newspaper, of the biggest club of them all in front of the Dolman. Thought that was a bit strange to see so far away from home.

  4. Why do people have to move on if they're still angry at the decision to sack Nigel? (Not a criticism at the OP at all). More because it's been said a few times recently.

People are allowed to still voice their concerns about what happened, and the disgraceful way the Lansdowns managed it all.

Personally i think it's been a huge step back (so far) in terms of what Nigel and his team were in the process of building whilst having the restrictions they had.  I don't see Liam as an improvement over Nigel (yet, but it's still early days) and don't enjoy watching elements of the football that's being played since Liam took over (get the ball, stop, pass back and sideways). It's not entertaining to watch. Perhaps this will change moving forward.

I don't support the Lansdown family anymore and believe they are out of order with the way they've managed this whole process (especially the terrible comms and rationale for doing this) as well as being completely out of touch with the fans BUT i can still get behind the team and will give Liam time to change my opinion (after all what choice do i have).

I won't be renewing my season ticket though because i'm falling out of love with this club sadly especially after the treatment of Nigel and disrespect shown.

Appreciate i'll probably get abuse for this but there you go.

  5. God i hope this isn't true.

I really wish we could have Pearson back and just pretend the last week didn't happen!

I really do wish now that Jon and Steve would sell up and leave. I don't think they really have any understanding of the damage they've caused.

  6. Nigel did the right thing to bring him off - even if it was only a slight knock. We cannot risk adding more players to the injured list at the moment and we need as many fit for Cardiff as we can just to keep options available (especually with King going off). Sound tactical decision.

I watched Roberts go and sit next to Nigel when he sat on the bench for quick chat before Roberts then moved to a different seat. No storming down the tunnel, no ignoring each other, and it didn't look like a heated chat. Suggested to me (from the body language from a distance) that he was 'ok' with the decision. I thought it was good player management for Nigel to have a chat about whatever it was. Perhaps it was re-assurance or to duscuss why he was brought off.

I don't think there was anything suspicious or any suggestion Nigel wasnt happy with him in the short time he was on the pitch.

Move on to Cardiff game now and hopefully he's fit to play a part.

If what you are saying is true (not doubting it based on past experience) I would be very surprised if Nige hasn't got wind of it, if you have why wouldn't he, and I wouldn't be surprised if he is saying his goodbyes very quickly. I would even doubt whether he is here at the weekend. Why would you bother to keep the seat warm for Gary Rowett or whoever in his predicament?

He walks, he gets nothing. He stays, he gets the negotiated pay off of the rest of his contract?

I get your point though. If i knew my boss was about to sack me after doing a bloody good job under shity circumstances, i'd be inclined to put my feet up.

It will be exactly a year to the day on Tuesday that my wonderful wife took her own life. She was suffering with a physical condition that wasn't being dealt with. Her inquest is soon, we'll find out more then.

Sometimes, I barely get through the day, some days I'm ok.

If you know me & see me at the Plymouth match and I'm looking fine, it's just a front.

Ask how I'm doing, it all helps ?

    Sid

Truly sorry to read this Sid. Every day must be incredibly difficult for you. As someone else said, time will hopefully help you find some way to manage what you're going through.

Do look after yourself and i hope you're getting the help and support you need as well.

  9. To be fair to Alex's Bournmouth choice, he might not have expected to be injured for as long as he has been. Or that their team might have struggled as they have done so far.  Hindsight is easy to judge.

I guess going forward he may come back soon and have a fantastic season for them and put himself back in the shop window that if they do come down, another PL club (or abroad) might come in and snap him up.

Or perhaps he stays, they get relegated but they bounce straight back up to the PL.  Who knows.  There are too many scenarios this could play out for some to call his move to them a mistake just yet.

Er, I'm not really sure what you're getting het up about.

Birmingham have just broken a contract. The repercussions will be no more or less than for any other club that chose to dispense with their manager's service, subject to contract.

Any pay-off would form part of a legal agreement. They're not going to make his contract paid up unilaterally.

The actual agreement can be anything both parties agree to, but realistically it won't involve more money than the outstanding contract is worth. And rather than a payoff, they might agree to continue to pay his salary/difference in salary if he finds another job until completion of the contract term.

He'll only be taking legal action if they can't come to a reasonale compromise.

My point was related to the comment suggested earlier by someone else - the hypothetical reason he might have been sacked - which i dont think is a reasonable or justifiable reason to sack someone.  Just talking about that point more.

Probably getting his contract paid up so why go to the hassle

Principle? Was his pay up enough/acceptable in this circumstance?  Surely somewhere a line has to be drawn at some point.

Appreciate it's probably not the reason for him leaving but it's an interesting thought.
