    Mark Ashton effect ?

Personal feelings about him aside, the fans love him there and given some of the business they've done and their season, he probably is a contributing factor to their confidence and ST sales.

Lets see how they get on in the transfer market now and on the pitch next season to see if this lasts. ?‍♂️

A lot of the comments I'm reading about him are quite negative, I know it could be sour grapes but comments like

Happens at every club.  Look at some of the comments on Massengo's thread.

Some fans forget players can develop and thrive in some teams more than others (all depends on the management, coaching, atmosphere in the squad etc etc plus how they/family settle in the area).

He could get back to his best here (or not), same as every player that struggles when they leave us.

Too many fans have a narrow Football Manager game mentality.

I'm assuming 'all football activity' in the off season means he also cannot be transferred? Seems a large punishment to me where this could have been the summer that got him a big move

Hadn't thought of that. I wonder if this ban does also cover a potential transfer.  I'm sure there's some lawyers somewhere that would love to take on the FA to challenge that.

  4. What's the point in applying part of the ban during the off season? Surely 8 months should just be applied during the playing season and possibly pre-season friendlies? Wouldn't that be a more meaningful punishment and demonstrate an example to others? Or am i missing something?

That's like banning me from working when i'm on annual leave?

  5. Very sad. Pictures in the Bristol Post this morning which show some of the damage to the underfall yard. Looks like the workshop building is gone but difficult to tell for sure which one it is.  So sad.  Also looks like some boats were badly damaged as well. Such a shame.

  6. I think communicated apologies from 'players' (the teams PR dept) doesn't exactly mean anything (i don't see it as a sincere form of apology from footballers).  I doubt that will motivate players to improve performances either.

Not sure a refund is the answer either though but at least its a tangible response to the fans that were there.  Can't see that motivating players to improve performances though given how much they make (i dont the refund costs really dent the wallets of the collective wages i would've thought).

  7. Cheating in my book. But saying that, it's encouraged in football.

Kane did it the other week. Same as when one player touches another on the back and presses that invisible button that stops a players legs from working.

It's cheating.  Sad how people on here support it when one of our players does it, but if it happens to us they'd be up in arms about it.

That's true now, but when you hear the stories of the fans having whip rounds to pay the players less than 10 years ago, that's where the fairytale bit comes in to my mind.

For me, a fairytale story would have been a team earning promotion when the fans were still having a whip around to pay wages and the team were genuine underdogs compared to those around them - not when millionaire owners come in and buy the their way out of the league.

This is not a fairytale story. This is a typical media love in with popular hollywood celebs doing something unusual. Where has this same level of media attention been shinning this much light on non league football before?

    Enough said...

  9. Shame but never mind.

We're safe now (mathmatically not, but i can't see us going down now).

This season, for me, was all about staying in the league so i'm happy.

I'm more confident we can now re-shape the team at the end of the season for a campaign to build on next season.

I'm happy with the job Nigel and his team are doing and am looking forward to next season.

    Happy days.

  10. [Tongue in check] but officials up and down the league take shit every week from players and fans and it's almost accepted. Sooner or later something like this is bound to happen. If officials got more respect (like in rugby) then something like this is unlikely to happen (who knows what Robertson was saying to him to prompt that reaction).

Credit for Robertson though for not falling to the ground and rolling around like he'd been snippered.

This should have been foreseen and sorted out before season tickets being made available

Do you honestly not trust the club? What do you think they'll do - take your money and do a runner without sorting out your ticket?

    **** sake, they're not fraudsters.

There will be hundreds of fans in a similar situation to you and it will be absolutely fine.

  12. I think clubs who submit financials late should be put in front of a panel of self employed small business owners who have to self submit HMRC assessments by the deadline (or face strict consequences) to argue their case.

The panel then get to decide the penalties and apply HMRC style consequences.

I wonder if that would put a quick end to the clubs bending/breaking by rules.

I'd love to hear some clubs [cough...Man City (allegedly)..cough] excuses for breaking the financial rules 100 times over the 9 year period.

  13. I'm disapionted that some on here seem to be defending the kid/s from running on the pitch.

The rules are very, very clear and cannot be confused. The club and authorities have made it as simple as possible for everyone - don't do it - the line is there, no need to cross it and no one can say they didn't know. End of.

Now, if as a parent, you think your little prince or princess is exempt and this very simple, easy to follow rule doesn't apply to you or yours, then you accept the consequences of your selfishness (ban, fine, manhandling, whatever it is).

You should be the ones apologising and disciplining your kid/s and yourself for allowing it.  Perhaps, even educate them a little.

Also consider the impact of your action of allowing your kid/s to do this potentally contributing to the club being fined.  Why would any fan want to risk this?

Really does suprise me that this issue causes a debate which some think it's ok to do.
