Maybe injured. Maybe rested. Maybe out of form.
He's young. It's his first season at this level. Time is on his side.
Why the need to catastrophy?
It's what OTIB does best.
Some would worry if there was nothing to worry about!

Like some above have said - not the worst, but one of the worst.
We know it too, so not that shocked by what others think about us - and I often think we ARE the worst (only the table makes me realise otherwise).
Doesn't mean we can't change though. Long summer ahead and we can improve with the right decisions.

Not done badly at Cheltenham at all. They're definitely punching above their weight but without the financial challenges (in comparison to our situation). Not sure anyone would do better than Nigel though at the moment, with the squad and financial constraints we have.

For me, off the back of the past couple of seasons and with the financial mess we're in, this season was about survival in this league. It's been a horrible season overall, but objective met.
Too many performances have been poor or players just aren't fitting the system here, so it feels to me like Nigels performed a bit of a miracle keeping us up with the resources he's had.
Now that looks to be sorted (), the even bigger challenge will be this summer (Tranfers/club culture/finances/non playing staff recruitment). So many areas to try to improve. Feels like an uncomfortable few months ahead.

We have a knack over the years of making teams in bigger trouble look like world beaters when we play them.
It's our super power.

Updated version
Points dropped / gained due to goals (in the last five minutes + additional time of games) this season
Home to Blackpool - 2 points they equalized in the 93 minute
Home to Luton - 2 points they equalized in the 91 minute
Away to QPR + 2 points we scored in the 93 minute
Home to Forest - 3 points they scored in the 91 and 92 minutes
Away to Coventry - 1 point they scored in the 92 minute
Away to Hull + 1 point we equalized in the 91 minute
Home to QPR - 1 point they scored in the 93 minute
Home to Millwall +2 points we scored in the 85 minute
Home to Coventry - 1 point they scored in the 89 minute
Away to Blackburn + 2 points we scored in the 92 minute
Home to WBA - 0 points (both teams scored beyond 85 minutes)
10 points lost, 7 points gained, overall 3 points lost
I think I'm being stupid, but why do we only drop 1 when 'they' score? Shouldn't it be -2 (if they equalise) or -3 (if they win)?

What is the 'believed wage' you mention? Figures please.
As far as 'Wells isn't scoring regularly'- that is somewhat disingenuous on the basis he isn't playing regularly, in fact yesterday was his longest contribution in a league game this year and he scored.
There have been many suggestions above £20k p/w over the time he's been here (which is why i wrote 'believed' - perhaps i should have said 'suggested' to appease you?). Anyway, I doubt he's on less that that.
I do agree, that not playing regularly doesn't help his situation but there have been examples over his time here where his performances haven't looked great when given the chance. (I also accept that he may need the right players around him and be played in the right way to get the best out of him so im not suggesting he's a bad player). Regardless though, it is what it is, and all of that has resulted in a player who is on a very high wage, for his age - and at a time when finances at football clubs are under greater strain. I can't see many (if any) clubs lining up over the summer to take him off our hands (and not as easily the tone of some posters suggest).

I'm amazed at people saying Wells will move on in the summer. Like it'll be easy. To who? Who is going to either pay us money or agree to take on the majority or all of his wages (if we give him away for free)? And in return, they get a striker who isn't value for money at the back end of his career and isn't regularly scoring (especially to justify the believed wage he's on).
I cant imagine we'd let him go and continue to pay the majority of his salary otherwise we start to lose the benefit of getting him the books.
I think some people need a reality check, badly or are going to be disapointed.

Shock horror that Netflix has dramatised and sensationalised the sport to attract viewers. Can Max really be suprised that a TV documentary has stirred it up and highlighted rivalries?
F1 reaps what it sows. You don't like what they portray, don't let them follow you around (and I'm sure pay F1 a lot of money to do it).

Someone has to send that in to Greg James

That is one of the best unplanned comedy sketches I've seen. Bloody brilliant.
It's moments like that, that the Bristolian accent was made for.

I wonder if this is a first for a Football team to have a shirt sponsor within the active season that no longer exists?
Got to be a stato on here that would know?
-
See it for the silver lining. Positive news for all. It hasn't worked out for him or us. We've saved a bit more on the wages which will help the books. I'm sure there will be others in the Summer.

Wow, how sad. I remember how great a player he was when he played for Oxford. Always a thorn in our side when we played them.

The sound of the city podcast the other week was very good and informative
Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have a search for that one.

Does anyone know if there's a good podcast interviewing them at all? I'd like to learn more about it and thought Geoff Merrick's interview was really interesting.

Huge concern for me is the midfield, not just the defence. Going to have to play HNM/AS pretty much every game with JW every now and again with Benarous as backup. As @Davefevs said in another thread, you many have to play Weimann in the middle of the park, but that takes away from the threat upfront. It's a huge amount of pressure on the young lads, and if JW goes bang again we are in trouble.
EDIT : I wonder if NP would swallow his pride and recall Bakinson?
I don't think you can recall outside of the transfer window can you?

All this talk of us having the power to keep him because of his contract length. For me, im not sure that means that much anymore.
All it will take (if we reject offers and hold out for what we should ask for - resulting in him staying here) is his agent to turn his head with stories about the PL lifestyle and cash he can earn and we could end up having an unsettled player to manage.
Unfortunately the power is with the Agent and the player. Modern football
