The way the club could squash this (and have a laugh at our expense) is to give an update on Nigel's length of expected absence or any sort of update on how he's doing (without giving away any personal details). Bit strange that they haven't though isn't it regardless of this thread (unless I've missed it).
Surely that would end this madness or give the media team some entertainment.

Come on, if this turns out to be a wind up, Bs4Red deserves to win the day. Certainly made this Monday more fun.

God, there's more people browsing this thread than on a match day. Work productivity across Bristol has taken a big hit today

I think at times like this, this is where communication is vital. Clearly the club has issues already (financial challenges and FFP etc) which are trying to be managed carefully, and these are obviously very difficult times what with results/performances on the pitch.
The club really need to be more transparent in the plan/strategy for this season and expectations so that fans can start to get on board with it - or at least disagree but know the objectives. Appreciate things like this come in left field and cannot always be planned for but this just highlights the importance of communication to steady the ship in a storm.
Fingers crossed we get some clear messages later.

Hopefully Nigel's OK. If this is true and it is health related then this has to be for the best (for all parties).
Not sure I feel confident in the short term for the next manager coming in though. Let's face it, this squad needs some major upgrades which isn't going to happen for A few windows and the coaching team needs some re-inforcements too.
Not expected a 'new manager bounce' from this.

It is a very sad comment that in early November we are discussing implications of relegation.
There's still time to dig ourselves out but it involves yet more complicated and expensive upheaval which maybe the owners just don't want.
Agree. I think it shows the level of confidence the OTIB fan base has in the squad and their ability to turn this mess around.

Good shout.
The problem is what we have on the pitch for 90 minutes.
It's like having Pep try to teach a lump of turd how to play football. Ain't going to happen. Time to get the shovel out and start again.

I actually believe that NP has real struggles be they physical or otherwise. I think he's a big personality and believe he'll do what's right for him and our club which is to leave.
I find him neither too short nor too tall or anybody's love child- just not the right man for the job.
You're probably right (and I'm not saying I want him to go), I just don't see this working as we have a squad that is too mentally weak and sinking lower week after week.
Thing is I don't think anyone could come in and fix this mess (hopefully I'm wrong) and if Landsdown can't invest due to FFP/the clubs financial situation then it feels like there is only one way this is going until he/someone else can start investing again.
Something someone posted on another thread sometime ago springs to mind 'we seem to now be in a position where we can't financially compete to be in this league anymore' and is that doing more damage? I don't know. Maybe I'll feel diffentely tomorrow.

I think you'll get your wish sooner or than later. We're heading towards a relegation beating. I would say scrap but I don't think this team have it in them mentally now to fight for survival.
If/when we go down, Pearson won't stick around whether that's through choice or otherwise.

Predictable. Classic Bristol City.

I produced two scatters, one for xP and one for xS. You could make out my four quadrants from the tiles on the floor and wall.
Too much info???
Mrs Fevs needs a medal!

Football takes a backseat when it comes to health (mental or physical).
Hopefully it's just a short term rest needed, but if it does result in him needing to resign, then I'll be gutted but completely understand.
Priority is for him to get better, however long it takes.

one point above the bottom 3 is a big achievement. really you are having a laugh. that will be a total embarrassment. please i hope not many agree with that.
If you've read Rich's and DaveFevs posts on Page 1 and let that sink in then you might understand why some fans might see it as an achievement to scrape safety this season (especially after last year). Doesn't mean people are happy with it, but they may see that as an 'achievement' to secure Championship status for another year given our predicament.

But, but, but Football Manager 2022 says we have £1m to spend so we must have money. Come on Steve!

He’s already replaced one of them, hasn’t he?
Fleming had never worked as a coach with him before & the one that keeps getting suggested (Craig Shakespeare) is at Villa.
Good shout about Flemming. He may have been one in Nigels mind to replace one of them or maybe there's someone else as well? Shakespeare would be a great shout but I can't see him leaving Villa to come here.
Whatever happens next, it does feel like a change/improvement in the coaching set up (excluding Nigel) is required if we're unable to spend on the playing staff.
-
I wonder if Nigel has plans to replace either or both with people he's worked with previously?

2 of my favourite City players right there (along with Murray). Pleased with this.

Don't really get this argument, as we have made £60m+ profit on players over the last few years and are the 6th most supported club in the championship this season.... We're not exactly skint!
You don't get the argument because you don't understand FFP or the financial situation City are in. This isnt Football Manager
There are some very detailed threads on OTIB that explain the situation we're in.

Firstly, priority here (as I've said all along) is Nigel's health. I think it's good the club haven't put any timescales/pressure on Nigel (publicly) to return. Get well soon Nigel and whatever decision you make has to be right for you and your family.
From a business/club perspective though and at a time when we need some strong, confident leadership (and clear communication), it just feels like more uncertainty- left in limbo. I'm sure there's lots going on behind the scenes but outwardly it feels like the opposite.
This form table highlights the crisis we're in and it doesn't get any worse than this. Plus when you factor in the reduced coaching team, I cannot see how this is going to improve whilst Nigel is out.
The players maybe playoff quality on paper, but names on paper is completely irrelevant compared to the reality we're in.
