  1. I was wondering about this too last night and why it's only now being reported on so much.

There does seem to be something about the media repeatedly reporting a theme after an event. Almost like it's fashionable for the media to do it until they get bored of it and move on to the next thing.  I wonder if it's that. This isn't a new thing but the media just hadn't reported on it as much as it wasn't fashionable or headline grabbing for them.

It IS an utterly pointless game of football...surely sport is all about competition.....and this was not about competition?  Just constantly putting the ball in a net is meaningless, and talk of goal records is just pathetic.  Makes womens football look sub standard and lame IMHO.

Ah I see, so by your logic the goal records set by Australia v American Samoa (31-0) must make the men's football look sub standard?

  3. Boris's incompetence continues. So under the new rules of wearing a mask on the train and in shops works like this.

I've got COVID, catch a train (masked) to a busy restaurant, (don't wear a mask when I walk in, to/from the toilet etc and when leaving). Catch the next train (masked) and head to the busy pub. Spend a few hours in the pub moving around speaking to people, un-masked) then he'd to a club for more socialising (again un-masked). Lucky for everyone COVID is only dangerous on trains and in shops.

Appreciate masks aren't full proof but they do their bit to reduce the risks.  This new rule has been badly thought out and no doubt won't be implemented or policed properly.

  4. Luxury players always play I they put in a shift. They're not and they're not missed. The sooner they're off the wage bill the better for them and us.

I'd feel ashamed if I watched the performances/attitudes of Scott and Benarous and thought about their passion and how much they're paid and then looked in the mirror.

To be fair it was chaotic.

I'd say there was thousands of people in the que, mostly in the road, where cars were trying to get into the retail park or the small car park.

Its overkill and if they have to do it, why not do the checks at the turnstiles??? Where there are less people and more space?

To be honest my comment of the photo was a bit tongue in cheek because it looked like people were just stood enjoying the atmosphere in the fan area rather than queuing/being checked but appreciate your view of what you saw.

Probably but they both are young enough to get 2-3 years of championship experience to develop. So as others have said, need to build around that over the next few windows.

Just hope they both have agents that don't suddenly start seeing £ signs.

I think we need to build around them. Hopefully the “player trading” philosophy that SL and MA were so fond of, has been tweaked somewhat so we are actually able to progress. It just needs better application and more forethought

Agreed. Appreciate most of the time the decision is in the player (and agents) hands but hopefully we can keep hold of then both for years to come.

  8. Anyone else think the club has uncovered the next 2 assets that can be sold for big money to reinvest in the team?

Hope they both stay for a long time and we can build around them. Also what a boost it must be to the other youngsters.

Dasilva, Palmer and Wells could generate some funds and would see a lot of wage freed up. Would not bet against them having been identified as the ones to do this.

Maybe we have decided to start preparing for them leaving early Jan and hopefully we have some targets lined up to at least re-balance the squad.

Who is going to give us good (or any) money for Palmer and Wells AND take on their wages? ?

Now that Derby have been dealt with, hopefully EFL will turn their attention to punishing Reading.

The aforementioned 9+3 points deduction would take them 6 points below us.

Unfortunately not enough to make me feel safer about our season.

Hope they get promoted screw Derby.

Was going to ask the same thing due to Carroll signing for them.

I wonder if they have any legal case to pursue? They must have lost earnings by dropping to L1 even if they do come straight back up.

I think he will keep them up, not cut adrift by any means.

He'd definately be a candidate for Manager of the season if he can.  Unfortunately I don't think he'll be able too but that's why I think its a good bit of planning for next season too.

  13. Just watched it and really enjoyed it.

I can echo some of the comments about Savage but actually he came across quite passionately about it and why not. By the end I didn't mind him. Although, yeah as others have said, it was interesting to see where he crossed the DoF/ Manager line by getting involved from the side of the pitch.

You only get a small glimpse of the blood, sweat and tears to get that club back up and running from scratch but what a different it made to the community.

    Definately recommend it.

And Jimbo - SL get your cheque book out. ?

Probably be managed by Curtis Fleming for the next three months then Pearson comes back but we are already 10 points adrift Pearson then continues his fantastic home record of one win in 15 and loses the last 6 home games and city relegated by the end of march the good news is Pearson stays on next season

Hampshire Reds, is this your 3rd Otib account? ?

Either they sign by 1st July or we need to sell. Cannot afford for anyone to run their contract down again.  Guess it will depend what division we are in next season and how the market continues to go now that fans are back.  Would Kalas get the money he is on here elsewhere for example.  If Massengo has ambition, which I assume he has, he will leave to join a better run club that also has its team playing to a style that suits him

No ones going to buy the ones we're willing to sell (possibly due to wage demands, how attractive they look to other teams given our current situation and the view mention about the state of the transfer market) and the players themselves would be in a better position to let their contracts run down (assuming we don't offer them deals).

I think most if not all of those we don't want to keep will leve for nothing.

Is it OK if I point out that we are as close to the play off places as we are to the relegation zone or as that something that people don’t want to hear at the moment?

It's a fair point. We'll ignore the form then. Playoffs here we come.

Edit: just to qualify my point (which I know you got), when you combine the picture of the form table, together with the quality of performances on the pitch, likely damage to the moral given the nature of the recent defeats, impact of the reduction in coaches plus now the manager out for an unknown period of time. To me, it only feels like the gap to the playoffs is heading in one direction.

    I admire your optimism though.
