  1. Still quite a bit of work to be done in my opinion before we can be challenging for play offs. So far id say we'd be a bit more better off than we were last season and probably be looking at mid table with just more consistent performances. We still need that bit of steel in the middle, hopefully Rinomhota is still a goer as that would put us in the top 10 conversation I think. I know the front 3 did well this season, but unless we're moving Semenyo central and playing Sykes and Weimann either side/behind im not convinced Martin is the guy to do it for us all season. So wouldn't mind us bringing in another forward. All in all though feel so much more optimistic about this season compared to 12 months ago. Nice to see Nige building HIS team. Once we get that, we should have a happier NP and hopefully more successful football team.

Would love to see something like this

    Bentley

    Wilson Kalas Naismith Dasilva

    Rinomhota James/HNM

    Weimann Scott Sykes

    Semenyo

I'm up in Scotland at present, on a mental health break and a good mate of mine, his son plays for Celtic's B side having broken through their academy and has just been offered a promotion to the first team. Celtic are very keen on signing Semenyo according to my mate and have sent someone to watch him play for Ghana. My mate has said that whilst the club have not come out and stated that they want him, he is led to believe from his contacts within the side, that Celtic have two priority signings to make this summer and he believes Semenyo is one of them.

If Celtic do come knocking, I think its fair to say its bye bye Antoine.

Celtics knock won’t be loud enough. They just won’t be able to afford him. Have a feeling we’ll be holding out for near 20m for him. Out of the 3 youngsters he’s the one who’s performing the best for the team and has the most input in games, definitely be the hardest to replace as well. I get Celtic are a big team in Scotland but I’d be disappointed if he went there.

2 head injuries , concussions , in a short period. At least the second one he was unconscious for a period.
Single concussion is about 10 days rest and observation , the second coming so quickly after is a worry. They would be taking every precaution to make sure there are no long term problems.  With Bakers age, and the way he plays, I wouldn't be surprised if he retires. But I'm not surprised he ( and the medical) are taking their time to see if it's Baker's decision or on health grounds.

So is it a case of he can’t head a ball anymore now then?

Surprised this hasn’t been more covered by the club. The sort of message that needs to be put out there to bring awareness to the issue.

  4. This would be such a terrible move for him. I can’t believe his stock wasn’t higher after leaving us. It’s not like he left us at the bottom of the league after years of fighting relegation. Definitely deserved another club at our level. If he goes up there and it goes wrong he’ll do well to get above league 2, if it goes right it doesn’t really increase his stock anymore. Odd decision for him. Should hang on and wait for something like Rotherham or Peterborough. Even Derby should Rooney not stay.

I try not to use terms like bed wetting *******, however there are a few on this thread that deserve the title.

There was an interview with Alan Dicks recently. A bloke who took ten years to build a promotion team out of kids and cheap-transfers.

Pearson has brought in Anderson (who had a good game and an assist today) and Tanner for fees. but has spent a fraction of the money thrown away by SL on his LJ whim.

Injury is a problem, across the club and has been for sometime, but we are building from within so as not to fall foul of FFP and so that we can build something sustainable from our very expensive performance center.

Yes we have a problem in the last few minutes that’s pretty bloody obvious, but whether the bed wetters like it or not he has a three year contract with a remit to build a side, without spending money we don’t have/not allowed to spend. That was/is the remit and the fact the playboy had to be slapped down by Pearson publicly should give us all hope he’s not the yes man that the previous men running the football side were

HNM won’t sign a contract and the club will have to make decisions regarding Scott and Semenyo as offers are not only likely but inevitable. Then it’s going to be about who we can get in, keeping a few fitter longer, like James Williams Anderson and Tanner is key and how long it will take the next generation to come through. Conway Owers Benny Janner et al have to step up and fingers crossed Tinman is right that we have excellent players coming through

Last minute goals hurt us all, but some have to take their right hand off their Dick and their left off their rattle and wake TFU! And while they’re at it stop adding to the Simpson thread, it was tried it failed, so what!

Who the **** is Anderson? ?

Did you spot a lack of effort today? If so I’ll admit that passed me by………

No not saying there was lack of effort, just stating that it’s probably in some players heads now that the season is pretty much done. They’ll obviously always go out to win but the points aren’t as crucial anymore. Players will always have more fight and grit if there’s something to play for. There is the other side to that argument where teams like us can play a bit more freely and take more chances, hopefully that’s what we see from now until May. Plus I’m really hoping Andi can hit 20 ?

Really? A horse by any other name

The opening line is I’m not in the Pearson out camp…. Jesus Christ Glyn

I still actually believe Nige can get it right. I’m just saying IF next season is a repeat of this, then we have to move on and try someone else.

It’s not the last minute equalizers it’s the huge individual errors.

Were fortunate none of it matters to this season now.

Part of me does wonder how many of the players are already on “holiday mode” the seasons been done for us for a good 4/5 games now.

If the ref does his job and gives us a nailed on penalty these threads don’t emerge. By all means be pissed off with another last minute goal conceded, but ffs don’t call for the manager to go on the back of that performance.

I haven’t called for him to go ffs ?‍♂️

the issue this summer is not Pearson , it is recruitment .

Of which he’s in control of? So if it goes wrong, he’ll be the one responsible having signed and organised the team. Which is what I’m questioning. We’re very lucky this season the bottom 4 is so bad and hit with point deductions. Don’t think the bottom of the league will be over with 12/14 games to go next season.

Today was just a good goal IMO. Happens far too often I agree, but sometimes you just have to hold your hands up.

We were much better today, they barely had a sniff at goal - a pen and a 93rd minute goal, no other shots on target.

Pearson gets the summer and start of next season for me - then it’s as good as his team.

Yeah last minute goals happen, we got one last week. You know before the season starts you’re going to be on the receiving end of a few. It’s just happened WAY too much for my liking. Definitely isn’t something that can be taken in to the new season. The defence will be the biggest fix job this summer and he needs to get it right.

The summer and 10 games into next season I’d say. If we don’t see improvement by then I think his position starts to become unattainable

I’d agree with that. I don’t think a manger has ever been given such leeway from our fan base as Nige has been given. Mostly because we all know what the challenges were. However after 18 months (I know it’s not 18 months yet but will be come the beginning of next season) there has to be improvements in the concerning areas. He won’t get the fall back of the squad not being good enough next season.

  13. I’m by no means in the Pearson out camp…. Yet anyway. However after yet again another win snatched away in the final seconds. I’ve left the ground thinking, at what point is this not considered bad luck but bad management. He’s been here a long time now and like Lee Johnson with his streaks, Pearson just can’t kick this last second crumble. He’ll obviously see out the season and be given the summer but if this sort of form continues in to the new season, surely he doesn’t have long. I’d hope we’d act quickly and if things aren’t any different by October we go with someone else.

I’ll admit there has been an improvement since he’s been here and let’s face it, the squad he’s inherited isn’t the best but it’s the little things like giving pens away, conceding at the death, how god damn awful we are at defending set pieces and just defending overall that’s getting harder and harder to ignore. Hopefully Nige can get backed in the summer and sort these massive problems out but if he can’t. It definitely needs freshening up. I’m sure someone could get more out of this team defensively with one or two additions. Remains to be seen if that somebody is Nige…
