  1. You don’t have to, these days you can use a fire stick.
  2. I bet the Gas all love to suck a Fisherman’s friend.
  3. When an opponent goes down ‘ hit him on the head , hit him on the head , hit him on the head with a baseball bat , on the head’ . Moderately aggressive wouldn’t you say? And the beautifully melodic ‘you’re gonna get your freaking heads kicked in’ . The generous deep harmonies of ‘ you’ll be dead by five o’clock’ Ah we loved a sing song back in the day. For me a killer for singing is being sat down , mingled into a crowd on the terrace you became part of one unit and were carried along ( sometimes literally) by the singing and would join in without being self conscious. I think we are also generally quieter by nature than those loud Northern monkeys .
  4. I fear we all know what will happen. In the summer , after landing the players Manning wants and after a good preseason where they bed in and we thrash Mangotsfield Utd, Rochdale and Forest Green Rovers it will all go tits up and LM will be replaced by someone who will equally struggle to balance the wishes of the club and the reality. Rinse and repeat.
  5. Yep, Super Bob and Robbie Carnage , what a pairing . I hope LM. reads OTIB.
  6. fair play to them. I thought they would go straight back down. Add in the loss of their manager and Azaz and they would have been nailed on to struggle. Bright young coach from the lower leagues always works a treat.
  7. Look at the quality of their players. We don’t have the same technical ability and should play to our strengths. When are we going to attract the best Championship quality footballers to our club?
  8. With a small injury plagued squad and kids , depleted of his star players. Here we go again, the criticism is that NP did all that was demanded of him and when he’d done the dirty work he was ignominiously shown the door. He wasn’t perfect but he is a football man with experience and standing in the game. I have no doubt that if he was supported then we would be in or around the top six. Bitter ? Damn right I am. The club win the gold medal in shooting oneself in the foot. We have gone backwards and the football on show is a long way from being front foot, entertaining football. We had a sell out last night but people just didn’t turn up.
  9. It’s easy , cheaper and more pragmatic to have a team of robust players than a team of ball playing artists. I fear that ultimately Manning will come unstuck with us through the lack of quality of player that he/we can attract to the club. We are a club of footballing snobs , not for us the snarling, ugly win at all costs football. No we think we should play like Barcelona or Brazil and jump on the players when they can’t do it. I love creative attacking football but if you can’t or won’t bring in this standard of footballer then you will forever struggle.
  10. Sorry about that I was otherwise occupied.
  11. Liam Manning talks about keeping emotions in check , not getting too high or too low during a game whilst I don’t want to see a team of hotheads I do however want ‘ emotion ‘ in my players. Emotion is what gives an athlete that extra yard or the desire to stop an opponent at all costs. Emotion is what fires up a crowd and binds them to the human beings representing their club. Emotion feeds dreams and visions. Have we lost something in football as coaches and administrators sap the joy out of the game. We used to go to games to let off steam. We shared the highs and lows, the beer breath , woodbines and a good sing song. Now we are customers who must sit down, mind your language and conform to the modern image of the sport. I fear that Mr Manning has reduced our squad with his coaching as our lads are not world beaters but good honest players who bought into the spirit generated by the previous manager. He needs to be freer and more spontaneous to release the creativity in the team. IMHO.
  12. Then, you Sir, are not Jon Lansdown nor Brian Tinnion.
  13. Damaged goods, perhaps Burnley will let him go on the cheap now. Good work City .
