  1. I don’t know if he was given a fair crack of the whip when he was here or not but I remember that he didn’t pull up any trees or shrubberies when he had his chances.
Palmer looked the part and of the two I can see why he was ahead of SS.
Incidentally KP is having a great season at Coventry.

Feels like we didn't do our due diligence to be honest. Isn't there an online market place where you can basically court clubs to sign your players? I'm sure that's what happened with someone like Semenyo to Bournemouth?

For me it feels like a panic signing. Westerlo wanted him gone, we saw Man City history and snapped him up.

I go with the idea that Maude’s agent or a former colleague asked Manning if he’d take a look at the lad because he’s having a dip in a previously promising career. Of course he has had a good footballing education at Man City and is a type of  player that we are trying to bring into the club so it sort of made sense.

It could have been a good deal if the lad had found his form from before but this is  City and we rarely get lucky.

Tbh comparable Championship club sale prices are a useful metric, up to a point.

The one I cannot get is Ipswich managing to sell 40% of their stake for up to £105m...granted up to could be very flexible but that seems wildly out of keeping with the wider market.

Still comparable prices usually set a bit of a floor and a ceiling to prices.

Who could resist the charming man of the people , Mark Ashton. Selling 40% of your stake for up to £105m is a bit like making love to a beautiful woman.

  4. Without wealthy owners bankrolling clubs the costs would be lower as players, staff and the like would not be able to demand such high wages. Pretty much as in the past the more successful clubs would generate more money and thrive thus attracting bigger gates and more revenue and the rest would have to get by on the scraps from the table.
So , yes , professional clubs would still exist without wealthy owners.
The Lansdown situation is an interesting one. If he really wants to sell then the asking price has to be interesting for a buyer which it appears it isn’t. So he drops the price or he leaves Aston Gate in a coffin and his wife or kids ‘profit’ from their inheritance.

I'll enjoy the rest of the season if we win the next three to make Norwich away a very interesting game with an outside chance of the play offs (as they will drop points between now and then)

Otherwise the season is still a failure to not even be in the play off conversation

We’re not in the relegation conversation either , seat of your pants stuff at Ashton Gate.
Anybody want to buy shares in Isewater’s Squeaky Bum oil ?
    No, I thought not.

think it's very early to be judging him as a Premier League player

The lad’s got it. No one falls over as well as he does.
I don’t think there’s really a question of whether he’s Prem quality or not . He is playing at that level and will only improve with experience.

Certainly not uninterested or disinterested today.

Important winning goal & looked very lively when he came on.

140th League goal of his career.

Top pro who must question his move to our club.
