All refs spend ages before a corner or free kick lecturing players about pulling  blocking etc, and then once he let's the kick be taken, suddenly goes completely blind and ignores everything. The arm wrap around Bell would have been applauded in a rugby match.

Ironically is not a foul in rugby too? - tackling a player without the ball

  2. Some of the most baffling and infuriating officiating I have ever seen. Sky pointed out that Wells was booked for dissent after TC's first goal I presume he went up to the ref and gave him a piece of his mind (probably along the lines of "try and chalk that one off you f'ing cheat!")

Last nights ref (and his assistants) looked like people with zero interest in football had won a "be a championship match official for the day" competition. Absolutely clucking flueless.

Next they’ll be putting up the old east end, when they finally get planning permission for their new stand..

On the subject of planning permission (apologies link here is not directly football related!) - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-66934296
TLDR - A fully completed block of flats in woolwich has been ordered to be torn down as the final building did not match the designs closely enough

Lets hope such a recent precedent (and on a major project) is at the fore front of the minds of the planning comittee when they review the plans vs the reality for their stand.

It's hard to tell from the crap "fag packet" sketches provided in the planning permission documents. But it definitely looks a lot bigger than what was proposed. Here's hoping the planning committee don't appreciate being given the bird (metaphorically speaking) and ask them to tear it down.

I was trying to watch a film with the Mrs and the two games on the laptop, so missed a fair bit.

Thought Ruddy saved Brum , QPR a little unlucky.

Did I see right, England had a goal disallowed because VAR wasn't working ?

As I say, trying to watch too much so wasn't sure and had subtitles on the England game.

    Is this you?

Tony Bloom invested £80m in their stadium. No reason why the Gas shouldn't do the same now they have access to the Kuwaiti sovereign wealth fund. Don't they?

I am not convinced that their owners would put in even 1/10th of that!!

How does the sovereign wealth fund work? - is it available to freely use for all low-grade restauranteurs in kuwait?

Plymouth reminded me a bit of us in our first few months at this level under Cotts, play some nice stuff and look useful going forward but ridiculously open at the back and prone to the sort of mistakes that they were good enough to get away with in the league below.

As you say it looked VERY reminiscent of us in our first few months.

It's definitely not like they were bad with the ball; they made chances and threatened a bit, and with better finishing the game could have been closer. However, as soon as we got the ball and moved forward they looked very open, there were gaps evrywhere and their players were not really working hard enough to recover.

I think they will be alright and stay up, but if they have injuries to key players they could be in for some nervous times. Especially evident since the side we saw them play in the first half was as according to their fans largely their second string due to the 7 changes. The side that ended the game for them was better - You'd assume schumacher will have learnt his lesson.

I’m not sure why City ever spent any time on this proposal. It would have looked good but the chances of it being given planning permission, due to the houses, was very low

Is planning permission actually an important step in building something like this?

    Nail on head.

The 15ers never have had; and probably never will have , the funds for a new stadium.

Radical suggestion - Maybe they should actually try turning up for home games?

I know, I know - it's almost criminal to suggest that rather than being someone else's fault* the fault with their financial position lies closer to home.
    * pick any from a long and random list of parties to blame for their plight -  The council, 'teds in the away end, Wycombe, the EFL, Sainsbury's, UWE, The ref, The Greens, The BBC, A cycling event, The Balloon fiesta etc. etc.

So they've got their planning permission now then.?

    Nope not yet.

Given they have got this far with the cconstruction - I am really hoping they are told to adjust the dimensions of the structure by a few metres (maybe lower and not so deep?)
We may mock about "meccano", but this does not look like meccano if the need to modify it arose.

Drove past the ground today and noticed Wickes was still open and it got me wondering when the build will start for the basketball arena .  Planning was granted in October of last year and I recall a start date for the build was summer 23.

Have a there been a delay in the build or is everything still on schedule.

I was under the impression that building should have started the July/August just beforehand in that case?
