(before he scored) - That Sam Bell looks decent.

    Fu#k! quality finish that

There mid looking sharp - Scott would be a good signing for us

(Bell's 2nd) Fair play that was a cracking goal

BC are just enjoying themselves, penetrating us at will.

Sam Bell has got some pace. Left Furlong for dead just.

Bristol comfortably deserved to win that & really outplayed us at times.

I would guess Scott will be going to a side A LOT better than WBA currently are. He will surely be looking at top half of premier league?

  2. Its super early days for Bell in his career, but he has something about him.

His timing of forward runs for through balls looks good. He looks pretty good dribbling the ball (he seems a bit 2 footed?)

His finishing though, it is just ?. The goal against swansea, the disallowed goal against blackburn, both goals today are all very good finishes - as was pointed out earlier, the second finish day would have pundits puyrring if it was some superstar doing it.

I hope he gets more chances.

  3. Long ago I made this post regarding their alleged attendance at the playoff final for finishing non-league as runners up below Barnet

Using some local news sources and ticket sales up until a week before the match (and then extrapolating) you get to a figure closer to 32-33k

You're more than welcome to register on the Independent forum. However, bear in mind that unlike OTIB it is frequented by a higher species of Bristolian who can think, type and eat at the same time.

Six of the top eight have played in the Prem. Explains why Rovers think they are a big club.

To be fair, the top three clubs are actually much bigger clubs than you. The reason they are in the division is because they effectively gambled on  on promotion to the PL. For example, the financial pressures are such that Derby felt it necessary to effectively cheat in their efforts to reach the PL.

It is unfair for clubs to overspend, get relegated, get brought out by new owners, and then get promoted again before overspending again with the aim of making the PL. It makes a mockery of L1.

You were almost subject to a transfer embargo last season because of your inability to live within your means, so I wouldn't laugh too soon.

"To be fair" you are in 9th Place in league one having played more games than all of those around you. It is statistically unlikely (and they may have to play each other) but if Exeter, Port Vale, Charlton, Oxford, Shrewsbury and Portsmouth win their games in hand you could find yourselves 15th - So yeah definitely rubbing shoulders with the top 6!

Despite this one of your lot decides to lump your poxy club in the league one playoff picture with the likes of Ipswich and Derby by using phrases like "the other big six clubs" and then compound his/her needy fantacism by spouting shit about 12k attendances. According to https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/bristol-rovers/attendances this is something you have not had since 2016, when, being generous, you got 11750 for millwall at home. For an actual 12K attendance you need to go back to West Brom in March 2008!

Notice also that depsite you trying to cast shade on us, no poster from the red side suggested we were bigger than the three clubs at the top of the attendance list that was posted - those clubs have been in the premier league and are well supported and often attracts gates in excess of ours BUT we certainly have a far stronger case for calling them "our peers" having spent far longer in the same division as these clubs/the championship in the last 2 decades than the gas.

Peopl;e ask why this thread exists - this exactly why - your fanbase is filled with cretinous needy morons who desperately cling to any sliver of hope that they are in soime way as good or better than us. If your fanbase were more realistic or humble, half the ammo that is used to load the gun of this thread disappears.

I know that I am in a tiny minority but I wish that somebody would buy both Bristol clubs and put them together.

Only then would we really have the fan base to make it to the prem. Helmuts on...........

Anyone know of a way to report potentially harmful and dangerous electronic communications ?

The QPR was, Dunne was on a yellow too.

I cannot find footage of it. I think it was Dec 30th 2021 looking at youtube. City 1 QPR 2. The game that Andy King was sent off...

From what i remember the challenge was hard to describe as a genuine attempt to play the ball, and therefore one might suggest it was a straight red as well as a penalty. Dunne must have been very worried at first, and then laughing as he clearly got away with a bad challenge.

Interestingly this is a lot of what I think is behind the "anomaly": Dunne, a former "name", playing for a former PL club, barges into a young player few outside of Bristol had heard much of... The referee's may not be consciously biased, and there may be no conspiracy, but the unconscious bias approach is to wave away appeals from little old Bristol City in favour of the "famous people".Over time if this unconscious bias happens often enough you get a stat like we have now.

This is also only perpetuated by sky commentary which quite frankly can border on patronising for the smaller club in any contest.

I think this (Dunne did the same and no pen) was the point king made to the ref for his first booking. His challenge while clumsy, and a penalty, was at least an attempt to get the ball (just a "bambi on ice" version).

There was a thread last season detailing potential ones not given, can’t remember them all but pretty sure Scott had decent shouts at home to both Forest & QPR but neither are mentioned here.

Beat me to it. There was the one ( against QPR was it?) where he was pretty much shoulder charged in the head from behind when running into the box clear through on goal.

In Stone Wall terms it dwarfs the great Wall of china.

I think if the guy had finished scott off by bludgeoning him to death with a blunt implement,  the ref would still have waived our appeals away.

Ironic that you see people eat part of the French loaf whilst waiting in line to be served, they are buying no questions asked. But change into a clean pair of boxers in the line everyone complains.

Barton you are full of shit. Embarrassment

Maybe you’re a shit manager with a shit team in a shit ground in a shit kit .

The rovers players switching off for a quick corner - only one thing to blame - COACHING

leave the ball boy alone you despicable excuse for a human being

If you look again you do see the ball boy running to get the ball (his job) but even if he was a bit keener than you would like how about the Sag who is half asleep and reacts far too late, loses the challenge, plus the numerous sags in the middle who allowed the Stanley player to run across them and nod it in. If we conceded that I have a suspicion that the last lad in the firing line would have been the young kid……….

A couple of further points here.

The ballboy is quick to return it (arguably as he should be), and the corner is taken quickly, but the first contact on the corner is STILL from a rovers defender and he has the byline around 3-4 yards away - you'd imagine that most professionals would realise their team are ill-prepared and just roll (or welly) it out for another corner and get properly setup. NOT our "intrepid" sag he tries to... well actually I dont know what TF he thought he was going to do, and i very much doubt he did either. He stops the ball overruns it and giftwraps for a stanley player to cross, compounding his error by slipping when he tries to recover.

Meanwhile when the corner is actually taken a stanley player is on his knees in the box (he was the player that made the long run and took the shot that resulted in the corner) he looks shagged. He is in the box suroounded by six gas heads not one of them gets close to him and they give him the freedom of the membley turf to nod it in.

Clearly all the fault of the gurt ted ballboy

Can't help being disillusioned with that performance and result. Lacking in effort, ideas and creativity. Fair play to Accrington, they know how to get the job done in this division, but it really sticks in the craw to be beaten by a club with the resources of a pub team and a fanbase that can go home in an uber.

We are constantly playing too deep. Our go to ball seems to be back to Belshaw for a belt up front and we're losing most of those balls forward. I can't understand the lack of energy out there today.

I think at this stage it is very ealry days for a website to predict, or even foreeshadow, relegation - but their form is terrible at this moment in time.

    • They have played all the teams below them already (Burton, Forest Green and Morecambe)
    • They have won games against Burton (10 men from 2nd minute) and Oxford (who are firmly bottom half)
    • The only team in the top half they have taken points from are Shrewsbury (and they are 12th!)
    • Every decent team they have played (Barnsley, Pompey, Ipswich and Lincoln) have comfortably beat them

Heres hoping the sags keep hold of Joey
