Actually thought Dasilva is having a very good season to be fair! Constantly a threat down the left, far more attacking this year.

Lack of height and a right foot are two major weaknesses it is difficult to make up for in other areas at this level.  If he can't get onto his left peg, attacking situations break down and he has to go backwards.  I would really like to see a bit more of Cam Pring as I've really been impressed with what I've seen of him so far and he adds a few extra dimensions where Jay is lacking somewhat.

That said, J D S is looking a bit better of late, but doesn't seem to be the same player as he was prior to his broken leg.

  2. Maybe Kalas can shore up our leaky defence when he is fit.  Imagine having a player like Mark Sykes on the left as well with Semenyo in the box - Could Cam Pring do a job for us there?

To me, that would be a nightmare for opponents defenders.

So much different to some of the boring football we had to contend with last year.

  3. We deserved at least a point at Norwich tonight whilst last night a division below, Ipswich could have been in double figures had they put their chances away.  The Sags didn't even put up a fight and have lost both of their 2 centre backs for the next game as well (you can't expect any discipline from a team managed by a thug I suppose).

    The gap is still massive.

  4. Can't believe we came away from this one without a point.  But for 2 gifted goals and yet another penalty not given in the 1st half it could have been a different story.

Can't believe they kept giving Mark Sykes so much room on the right.

We really need to get a grip of these Naismith errors though as it is costing us matches.  He's such a good player but needs to learn when he needs to play safe.

If we can keep this up all season, we have to be looking at a top 6 finish, surely.

  5. Not sure why this job is really necessary.  How many coaches do we have now and after losing £40 million, I would have thought that these types of roles would have been the first to have their numbers cut.

Good luck to him and I hope he does well, but a goalkeeping coach never sounded like a full time job to me.

I want Ipswich to wipe the floor with them. They need a wake up call as to what they are in the grand scheme of things. 5-0 will do nicely.

What is the record defeat in L1.  Ipswich taking that record against the Sags would do nicely.  It would be even better if Mark Ashton took the piss, Joey gave him a slap and found himself being charged with GBH.

  7. So saddened by this awful news.  The fear of progression and what lies ahead is almost as bad as the disease itself.

My heartfelt best wishes go out to Marcus and his loved ones and I hope that he is able to benefit from anything that may help to slow it down.

A City v Rovers benefit game sounds like a great idea.

  8. Not so gobby now that they are 16th in League 1 whilst we are riding high at 4th in the Championship though are they.

We are 3 points from top of the table whilst they are 3 points away from the drop zone.

Nothing seems to be happening with regards to their shiny new ground either, so they will be staying at their non-league ground for a long time yet.

What is the date of Joey's next court appearance BTW?

So, to be clear, the Blackburn match is definitely not or definitely on RobinsTV, unless you are abroad or if the country where you find yourself is or isn’t showing the match live on TV.

Not on RobinsTV in the UK or abroad or via VPN airways as far as I know Major.  Looks like we will all be scrambling for a dodgy stream.

I'm sure there will be some links on this thread closer to KO time.

    What a bloody PITA.

TBH, I would not mind paying a tenner for a reliable HD stream if I could find one.

What on earth gives you that idea? From the outside looking in he's been nothing but professional and gives his all whenever he plays. Nige has even said (last season) when Wells wasn't in the side how great he is around the place, ie helping the young ones, getting his head down working hard and waiting for his chance.

As I said, we all see things differently, that's what discussion is all about. I doubt you will change my opinion any more than I will change yours.

Not having a go, honestly, but that reads very much like - I don’t want to evolve my opinion of Wells, my mind is made up.

For many people, both here and on Twitter Wells was their MOTM or a close contender.  FWIW I thought he had a couple of poor touches in the opening 10 minutes, then I though he gave as good an all-round forwards performance as you could give for a player of his type / ability level.

Judging on a single game basis…What didn’t he do (for you) last night?

All I'm saying regarding Wells, Dave is that one swallow doth not a summer make.

I hope his improved form continues, but given the choice of Semenyo or Wells, there can only be one winner.

If I had to chose between Conway and Wells for the other birth, then I would rather develop an exciting young prospect than go with a player I don't think really wants to be here.

Whilst on the subject of forwards, I think Andi Weimann is a great asset (though I've never been quite sure what his best position is) but Chris Martin is well past his sell by date.

Others may of couse see things differently.

    Still think the same?

Yep.  Conway and Semenyo still look like our best forwards to me along with Weimann when he plays up front.

Yes Wells scored and had a fairly decent game, but one goal is not enough to make me change my mind on him.  My concern is what he doesn't do rather than what he does.

At least I predicted the score right for a change.  Decent overall performance by the lads and a bit of variation up top.  Our defensive frailties would have been exploited by a decent side though

Happy to take the win and 7th place and the positivity that now exists around the place.  Blackburn are going to provide a sniffer test on Saturday though.

  13. Pring is a better LB than DaSilva and every time the ball goes anywhere near Zak Vyner it gives me the collywobbles.

It would be nice to have Semenyeo for 90 minutes, but I guess he's not quite ready for that yet, however a very dangerous forward for us to have on the bench.

I think Massengo is probably worth his place for the sheer effort he is putting in at the moment even if he is just trying to put himself in the shop window.

Tommy Conway has surprised me this season and looks an interesting prospect, but Nahki Wells still isn't giving 100% in my opinion.

I was wondering whether we could switch Andi Weimann and Alex Scott at various stages of the game to confuse the opposition and also switch the two forwards from left to right occasionally to see which is working best to add to the confusion.

Plenty of options on the bench now for when fresh legs are needed or to tweak the formation later in the game.

    Prediction: Robins 2 Terriers 0

  14. If we play the eay we have in the last 3 games, we can take all 3 points today.  Who is fit will be key - If Antoinne and Andi are fit we could thrash them, especially if Tommy Conway is fit too.

I know JD has had a couple of decent games, but I still think Cam Pring gives us more in that area of the pitch.

If Andi plays in midfield, I am wondering which other two will be selected in the middle - one holding and one more attacking or as we are away from home, two holding midfielders.

Sykes and Wilson both seem decent at RB but Alex Scott does a great job there too. My preference would be Sykes with Scott on the bench unless one of the 3 more forward players are not fit as he can play creatively in behind two strikers (which I think it is more natural position).

Knowing we're the better supported team - certainly in terms of bums on seats - for the last 60 years is good enough for me.

The more sentient Rovers fans like yourself Netty acknowledge this. You just get on with supporting your club and fair enough for that.

Unfortunately, attendances come up as an issue time-and-time-again because of the tendency for some Gas on social media to say things like "the biggest away support in the league" and "the blue half of Bristol" plus various wild claims about the numbers in Wembley and the idea that a 40,000-seater new stadium would be required.

Even Wael wouldn't be daft enough to believe that last one. It would be a nightmare for agoraphobics!

This is why they play in blue and white quarters. It is to designate that only a quarter of the city supports them.  The blue half ceased to be many moons ago.
