  1. I was wondering why City players kept getting injured in tackles whereas Hull players only went down when they were time wasting.  It's the same old problem.  Whilst you don't have much control over bad refereeing decisions, you do have control over how committed you are in the tackle.  I suspect we will see more committment and harder tackling from the Lionesses this afternoon than we have seen from a City mens team in a long time. In fact, I find it hard to consider us as a mens team really.

  2. Zak switches off much too often to be a viable championship centre back.  Pretty much every time I've seen him he has been responsible for conceding a goal and there have been countless times he has lost his man in the box but been fortunate to get away with it.  The problem is that he doesn't seem to improve either.

  3. Odd one. Cam is currently the best LB at the club and I prefer him to JD personally.  Strong, physical and tall enough to slot into left CB if needed. Also fairly decent left midfield.  I really can't see why he's not in the team let alone the squad.

  4. Seemed to be a bit more pattern to our game, though losing Alex Scott seemed to spoil it a bit.  Derby did have a couple of chances they missed, but so did we.  Good result in a game that didn't really mean anything to either side.

Antoine looks more of a beast as each game passes and it was nice to see Andi score his 20th and Timm Klose bag his first.

Isn’t it the overseas broadcast match? If so, no coverage on Robins TV as the match should be available on ‘normal’ channels.

I suspect that's it.  Over to a dodgy stream then.  At least the quality of our football won't look so bad that way.

  6. Cash left Hengrove just before I started there and I was in the same class as his nephew.  I can confirm his liking for the Baccy Jar and Platform 1. He was part of the team that took us to the promised land, but soon got found out when we got there.

Does seem strange to be giving him a testimonial now when there are a number of other players who are probably equally deserving.

He’s a self made billionaire who has the wealth and prestige to add to his legacy - I really do wish that some would stop criticising the guy. His heart is in the place and I certainly don’t have any problem him using his wealth to improve the lot of all of us. It’s a magnanimous gesture imo.

TBF arguably, it was Peter Hargreaves that made him a billionaire rather than him being self made and he is using the money for development which will primarily benefit himself rather than pay it to the tax man.

Can't argue about the fact that he has done an incredible amount for BCFC though.

  8. Odd isn't it that the councils kick up a fuss and try to block everything Steve tries to do, whether it is building a stadium or a housing estate whereas if you want to turn a fruit market into a stadium, that's no problem Sir.

  9. Jailbird Joey in the dock again today.  The CPS must think they have a strong case even though his wife is not pressing charges.  Hopefully the court will take the thug aff the streets this time.  If found guilty, surely the beak will have to impose a custodial sentence bearíng in mind his previous.

  10. Apart from the fact that Martin gets picked for every game and offers us absolutely nothing, why has nobody questioned why Pring is not being picked? He's big, strong, talented and our best left sided player at the moment and offers more options than DaSilva (though he did have a reasonably decent game last night to be fair).

Scott is our best right wingback at the moment even though that is not his natural position and Andi Weimann needs to play a more advanced role. Wells, Semenyo and Weimann should work well as a front 3 or a 1/2 or 2/1 and we have not seen this used all season.

We don't seem to have any sort of plan or to have practised any moves from corners and free kicks and when we get a throw in, we wait until everyone is marked before taking it rather than taking a quick one.

Finally, we really need to sort out our marking on set pieces. Players who are not used to zonal marking always struggle with it unless they are top class.  It has to be man to man with this team.

  11. Increase or no increase, I fear that there may be a lot who don't renew for next season as a result of the lack of performances and entertainment we have suffered this year.  Add to those, people who may have health or affordability issues and we have lost a few due to the pandemic.

TBH, even if we halved the price of tickets, I doubt that we would be able to fill the ground as things stand.

If the club increases prices, I think they would be shooting themselves in the foot at the moment even though the losses need to be covered somehow.

I do miss the 20k plus crowds we were getting every game not so long ago and the atmosphere that created.

  12. How are we showing our support today?  Can we wear blue and yellow even though it's Birmingham's way colours?

Will anyone be selling Ukraine flags with the proceeds to the refugees charity fund? Will there be a collection?

Can we play the Ukrainian national anthem before the game?

    Is anyone making any banners?

A minute of applause or silence?

    We have to do something.

    Any thoughts from the SLO?

  13. Do we need to be early tonight or can we walk straught in?  Do COVID passes still need to be shown and the metal detectors still in operation?

A bit of a shake ep needed and O'Dowda and Martin should probably be benched. Not sure if Bentley might replace O'Leary too.

Expecting a game between too mediocre and boring teams tonight which probably means it's going to be a cracker.  Hoping for a commanding performance and a big win for City.

  14. Nige said of Bents, "He knows the rules" and I guess he may have broken one of them, e.g. putting on weight over Christmas or arriving late/pissed for training or something like that.

Max has done well enough to keep his place and Bents may not get his chance until he loses those Chriatmas pounds and/or if Max's form dips.  We shall see.

Of course there is also speculation that Southampton are going to pay us a load of dosh for him during the January window.
