Club President Wael Al Qadi has today penned an open letter to supporters...

    Dear Gasheads,

I have been here with you now for nearly five and a half years. I hope that through that time you have seen and felt my passion for this club, my openness with supporters and my understanding of the emotions that you feel on a day-to-day basis.

We have a diverse fanbase, as was celebrated in our recent kit launch campaign and all supporters are welcome at The Mem to enjoy watching our club together.

However, the past four days have been tough for us all and I have seen first-hand that there is division within the fanbase which is not what we want heading into a new season.

Firstly, I think it is really important to confirm that as a club we stand firmly against any form of violence. Any individual that is found guilty of any such offences will be dismissed immediately. I understand the concerns expressed by a number of you. However, in line with the basic principles of British law, it is my view that you are innocent until proven guilty.

I have seen and understand the response to the statement that was released last night. Given that this is a legal matter, what we can and can’t say as a club is heavily restricted. That said, I think it is important that some context is given to the comment regarding victimless crimes as I know that has caused some distress. The phrase is a legal term referring to cases in which the victim is either unknown or has not made a complaint/engaged with the police enquiries. We in no way meant to belittle charges of domestic abuse.

I know that this may have been misinterpreted in the statement last night and I wholeheartedly apologise to anyone that was offended.

As has been well publicised we are partners with the team at HerGameToo and continue to play an active role in supporting that initiative. Furthermore, before we were aware of this issue we agreed last week to support a Domestic Violence campaign which we will continue to do heading into the new season. In addition, in 2018 we partnered with the Southmead Project who provide free counselling and support for survivors of abuse and addiction across Bristol and surrounding areas. All of these causes are at the heart of our football club and we will continue to do all we can to support those in need.

This period will have undoubtedly strained relationships, however, I hope that we can retain your trust and confidence as we look to continue to build the club and support our wider community.

I hope that you can all join me in getting behind the team this season, we need your support now more than ever.

We're not all bad and there are some decent fans who enjoy the friendly banter without being hostile.

I'm Swindon through and through for the last 45 years so won't desert them now and watching many Derby games between us over that period I can't help be envious on what you've now got in place and really miss the atmosphere of playing City and who knows if we're ever play you again the way things are going.

    Dry yer eyes mate. ?

Someone seriously feels they're in a position to criticise a ground with one bad end?

Ah.....so covid is responsible for them playing their marquee signings in front of marquees?  Right you are.  For all in tents and purposes they may have a point...they couldn't upgrade their tents to gazebo's with Go Outdoors closed I suppose!

    Good what now?!?

They're hilarious!  The number of them taking his dig about the ground as a personal attack on them is mind boggling!

Thanks Matt Langley. I've never heard the phrase 'Good risens' before. I will need to remember that one to impress my mates up the pub.

    #the gift that....

I've previously said we would have failed the 3 years to 2017 under the straight line method. The numbers do seem to indicate we would be between £1.6m and £3.6m within the limits for the following seasons though.

The difference is Birmingham and Sheffield Wednesday both failed P&S, whereas all evidence points to Derby not. By overspending, BCFC and SWFC gained an unfair advantage. By staying within the limits, DCFC didn't.

    Yeah.... they failed P&S.

Nothing official, but it's also hinted at in the charge. To paraphrase:
Charge 1 - related to a true value of the stadium would result in being over the limit and failing P&S
Charge 2 - the amortisation policy isn't compliant with FRS102

Pull up the official document(s) and take note of the actual wording. Rather than just being "non-compliant" it would have mentioned failing P&S if it was the case.

Ok, so sorting the wheat from the chaff. Are you basically saying the Derby County are innocent or not? Are you saying that the club should not face any sanction of any kind?

When I look at sorting the wheat from the chaff i.e. stripping away all the flannel then the club should face sanctions at least similar to Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham City.

My guess is though that due to the amount of smoke and mirrors deployed during this horrible mucky affair that the club will escape sanctions. Then it will be another nail in the coffin of the integrity (if any still exists) of the EFL and football in general. No deterrent means that murky Mel and people / clubs like him will continue to at best bend the rules and at worst show contempt and blatant disregard for the rules.

Quite hard for the Mods to deal with...

It's a forum that gets about 15 new posts a day! There is almost a mod per message over there.

It's no wonder everyone laughs at them in their little bubble of perfection, where to not be fully behind Deacon and Wally must mean you're a Ted.

Without doubt, the most tin pot outfit going, and their fans are as much of a problem as their leaders.

    Deacon!!

I had to think what it was referring to at first. F@ckin rofl !!

GIve them a choice.  24 points in the Championship next year or 12 this year (ie relegation).

I'd choose relegation if I were them.

Unfortunately, my guess is they won't get the choices you've outlined. My guess is that they will get away with it and face no points sanction at all. Absolute disgrace to English football.

    Except it's not.

Sheffield Wednesday were guilty of putting the stadium sale in the wrong accounting period. Sheffield Wednesday overspent in the 3 years to 2018.

Derby were found guilty of only incorrectly defining the amortisation policy in the accounts by accountants, and by using an incorrect amortisation policy by lawyers. Derby did not overspend in the 3 years to 2018, even when using a 'commonly accepted' amortisation policy.

Logic dictates that no on field advantage means no on field deduction (points). As it was simply an accounting c*ck up, a fine is the reasonable punishment.

So you believe that throughout this whole episode Derby County Football Club have been honest and played by the rules and the spirit of those rules? The club / club accountants made a little c@ck up so lets all move on?

I don't know the ins and outs of this but when something looks like a fish, swims like a fish and smells like a fish then..........

When Barton was interviewed by Radio Bristol after the Portsmouth match, Richard Hoskins said words to the effect of “You must be hoping, Joey that next season you’ll be back playing in front of ten thousand gasheads at the Mem ...”.

Even our local broadcaster has seemingly bought into the delusion. Ten thousand gasheads, my arse.

If he is deluded then Joey Barton saying about playing 'in front of 12,000' every home game must be even more of a f@cktard than I first thought he was.

    My apologies.

For some reason, the link appears to have stopped at this stage, and I am unable to delete it.

If anybody considers it inappropriate please feel free to delete - if you know how.

  10. IF they do go down can I ask someone to do another Hitler video when Adolf and his mates were all in the bunker with the subtitles. There were several around but the one when Sir Colin dumped them out of the league was pure genius. I don't laugh out loud very often but blige that was mint.

Shhhh , don't say anything, but I see some items have been produced which will allow some of our lot to sneak in to their ground without being spotted.
Fair play to whoever made these. That extra finger will be the perfect disguise . ?

Before my time, but my parents and grandparents often told me how they watched city one week and the gas the next. Apparently lots of people did it.

Joking aside, were my family unique or was that more common place when football was the equivalent of £2 a ticket?

I can't imagine any circumstance in modern football where that would happen.

Perhaps the tribal rivalry wasn't as intense back then?

    Christ!

If any of my family had done this no matter what generation, they would have been disowned and ridiculed forever!

I think you’re being rather unfair to Wael. He has spent money - Championship ready sprinklers, Santa’s Gritto and grass seed for their new training ground.

There were also unsubstantiated reports that a large purchase of Round Up Pump & Go was also bought.

This may have been a sponsorship deal though as it resembles their 'style' of play!
