  1. He certainly had a lot of disciples. I was mainly Thomas.
  2. Hopefully an artistic edit in the interests of balance. FWIW- I missed you a tiny weeney bit.
  3. Well- we got you back so we're due some good news as well.
  4. "Communication just seems like a PR thing" . No sh1t Sherlock.
  5. I guess my humour is lost on here atm. I was alluding to the fact that as a long suffering City supporter- a good finish is one where we don't get relegated. I'm not used to much else since the 80's. I refer your comments to the statement made by the Honourable member for @ChippenhamRed who did a great post about the trials and lack of tribulations of being a BCFC supporter. Managers come and go, players come and go but the excitement off the pitch seems more consistent than on it. Yet we go again.
  6. The other end to bottom- strictly speaking. Does top end means top 2? Or top 6? Is 7th top end? I think "top end" is indeed down to interpretation and deliberately vague when referenced by some. However, as a long term BCFC supporter my personal interpretation of top end is anywhere whatsoever higher than 22nd.
  7. Well- I was actually saying it in support of your post not against it so you can maintain your blood pressure within recommended levels. I had a similar friendly exchange regarding an inaccurate Math Withers quote last night. My point is that someone only has to change a word in a quote to entirely change what was actually meant. My other point was that if everything that has gone on at BCFC is quite as bad as many think then the facts as they stand will prove the argument/statement/belief and doesn't need to veer off into fantasy, conspiracy or myth. Yes and no in that's it's not universal. A brief glance at the various threads since LM was appointed shows quite a divergence on what is expected of him and why but many of these comments may just be a knee jerk reaction whilst the dismissal of Nige is still very raw.
  8. The only problem is that however slow and cumbersome he is- we are a better team when he's in it- certainly this season at the least.
  9. Just seen this thread. Yet again we see someone who is incandescent with rage re NP just making up a quote to underpin their agenda and the "Simpsons crowd /mob" falling over themselves with support and agreement then someone comes along and proves that no such thing was said and are basically ignored. Facts are clearly unwanted if they challenge the accepted narrative. If people are so utterly convinced that the NP sacking was wrong/ totally damaging and all the other stuff that's been said then surely they shouldn't have to make stuff up to prove their point? Nope- he didn't say it on that interview either.
  10. Agreed. I expect that people choose which message they wanted to take away from his article. Mine was: "Everyone just needs to remain calm and keep a sense of perspective but maybe that isn’t the way of the modern football fan. We all need to trust the process and give the new head coach and his team our support and see where it takes us."
  11. I think there is always a difficulty on OTIB to accurately quote what someone actually says and it's best not to change it. We've seen so many alleged quotes change in the last couple of weeks and it's appropriate to leave a quote unembellished: Math Withers : "Let me say from the get-go, Saturday’s game was without doubt one of the poorest games of football that I have witnessed in many a season."
  12. Quote from @Olé in response to me saying to another poster on Saturday that it wasn't the worst we've played. It was a very "popular post" in that almost 40 people agreed with him: "Taking account of the opposition, today was the worst football we’ve played in 18 months and respectfully, I have been at every single one of the matches, freezing cold Tuesday nights in Huddersfield and all. Birmingham and Reading away last season run it close but both were better teams than QPR who even objectively are one of the worst Championship teams I’ve ever seen and had absolutely nothing about them. The game was there for us on a plate, QPR looked like a team waiting to lose again and yet we ‘suddenly’ managed to look confused and scared and that is solely as a result of the change the club decided to make. Of course it is “far too early” to judge Manning, but if the owners choose to press the reset button mid season then it is never too early to judge that decision and on the basis of yesterday it is an act of self-sabotage." Of course when @Olé pens one of his matchday summaries- some who have been to the same match see things differently. And definitely question his player ratings. Because football is all about opinions and how many times do we hear " you were watching a different match". I thought the performance against L1 Lincoln when we had the likes of Semenyo , Scott & Conway on the pitch but lost 3-1 at home was a worse performance than drawing 0-0 at QPR . If he is right that it was the "worst performance in 18 months" yet still resulted in a draw and with a clean sheet then one could argue that it bodes well if LM can get in a good performance. But that's probably Heresy for some who can't let Nige go.
  13. Members Posted February 1, 2021 "I’ve also got to be honest, as far as I’m concerned, this is a mediocre boring team that is destined for a mediocre boring mid table season, doesn’t make any sense to me to be spending cash trying to chase sixth place." So , BR, at least you're consistent in your thoughts on the BCFC team. We have indeed been a mediocre boring team since your above post in Feb 2021 albeit that we've struggled to make a mid table finish under Nige- 19th, 17th and 14th. Hopefully we can now achieve a mid table finish or perhaps more? If you genuinely think that today was the worst performance ( at 0-0) then I'm not quite sure what team you've been watching. Your struggle with Lancaster Gate seems lightweight compared to your struggles with Ashton Gate. Now.... about the Reformation....It's such a shame about Tintern Abbey.
  14. Accept him ????? He's been appointed Captain of the Rwandan Olympic bowls team AND coach driver of the national football team which , due to time restraints, is why he's unable to post on here.
  15. Take a look in the classics thread. I came to that conclusion after 4 matches of him being awful ( NOT ONE). I was subsequently proved wrong and have always been happy to admit and self deprecating. Funny you don't mention stuff like Bobby Reid who I got spot on when he was dust binned by most on here. Or Wes Burns. Or maybe - Mark Ashton who may be personally painful to you.
  16. See- we are already bonding because I sort of agree- he should actually have had a few extra BUT divorced less and executed more. I think he had too many wives he didn't execute.
  17. I love the Tudor period. I think Henry VIII had too many wives- what do you think?
  18. Yep - you may be right and that would be worrying indeed. I maintain that they used that statement as an excuse and they think no such thing. Time will tell as will any transfer budget.
  19. I don't think we are on "mate" terms but you never know. What do you do in your spare time- we might have loads in common?
  20. Was so excited when Lansdown took over. Sadly, so far, it has been a massive letdown in the Championship. Could be worse. At least he's not a Mehmeti.
  21. You are such a silly pants! Nowhere have I said we played well , average or bad. If you think today was the worst football we've played in 18 months then I suspect you haven't gone to any matches. You should try it.
