  1. Funny old game. The most despised people at BCFC were called 'suits' (i.e. Mark Ashton) yet when they don't wear one they become a scruffy sod or as someone else said "tramp". Why not ignore the fact that they are too young, too old, too short, too fat or too anything visually and just say what you mean- you can't stand them whatever they wear, look like or say.
  2. Bang on right. Trouble is that some very regular and seemingly influential posters have appeared to basically bet their reputation on Nige and are really very desperate to protect their position after it all inevitably fell apart. They'll never forgive this and without doubt will state with authority if LM does well that it's all because of NP and if he fails it was because it wasn't NP. I sort of sympathise with them when some are setting themselves up as semi professional commentators who have basically been so polarised about NP being pretty much the best manager that we could/ have/will ever have. He did a good job, won nothing, got sacked , got replaced and we move on to someone who we'll also move on from one way or another but hopefully he'll manage to help us finish in the top 10 or perhaps even higher which NP didn't .
  3. I really don't know what your issue is with fans having different opinions to your own. It's very bizarre and rather concerning.
  4. I highly doubt it. They'll be forgotten within a couple of years and pretty much forever beyond a quiz question. As for Jason- he was here for 16 months and I really struggle to understand what he did to be the subject of years of being talked about? Dave had more injuries than an A&E ward so not quite sure how this works? Hahaha! You just keep digging yourself a deeper and deeper hole!
  5. Absolutely but only towards the end of his reign. There were plenty of threads which stated that virtually none of the players were fit to wear the shirt- it took NP almost 2 years to sort this out but sort it out he did. It just didn't translate into a consistently good team Sorry? You asked a question and I gave you an answer which you didn't like. Is it possible that you have an agenda? So if I had replied and said 'yes- a good man manager but only in L1'- would that have been ok? So- yes LM is seen to be a good man manager in New York, Belgium, Under 23's and L1 BUT not anywhere else/ any other level that he hasn't yet managed in.
  6. Didn't quite get that. Are you suggesting that NP had to play Academy players because they were being fast tracked by someone else and it wasn't his choice? Just asking for clarification please.
  7. I like what he's said so far. He's on a hiding to nothing if he talks bullocks but he does seem genuine and really focussed on how things are gonna be on the pitch. Good luck and obviously 4-0 v QPR with a Vyner hat trick. I really like him so I guess that's a sort of kiss of death as far as some people are concerned
  8. Massive club Sleeping giant Promotion Great owners
  9. Yes- loads walked out before the match finished.
  10. You really can't help being personally wrong. And a good night to you - hopefully not too dark.
  11. I'm sure I saw Jon wince/flinch when the interviewer mentioned a question from Dave Fevs
  12. But that wasn't the conversation- you just created it. It wasn't about how much LJ spent v LM- it was about track records. Check the exchange- if you want to discuss LJ's spending v LJ then just repost one of your previous. LM has spent nothing yet and I was discussing Liam. Really? So if someone is 100% negative regarding the club, the owners and the new Coach - I should let it go? Nope- ain't gonna happen but , hey, get yourself a few likes. NP has gone. Get over it/yourself and welcome Liam Manning.
  13. Yes But no if it's ok with everyone else.
  14. I agree with the first highlighted statement. And ,tbf, SL succeeded in his aim so maybe not so clueless as his critics believe. The second bit re his sacking is more murky and I don't agree that it was definitely "the real reason". IMO- there is more about NP's health issues that will emerge . He can't have been sacked on recent results alone. However he held the record for some of the worst records including only just beating Sunderland to not have the longest record of no home wins. I remember ( just now) walking out through the Dolman with my sons singing " we won at home (etc)" - it was genuinely uplifting. In hindsight we just won a home match which really shouldn't be a cup final feeling. Nigel didn't give me any real moments thatI'll treasure or remember. Johnson snr did Cotterill did and is the best ever Johnson Jnr gave me the best night of my football life v Man U. Who'd have thought at the age of almost 50, I'd invade the pitch like I did to hug Rob Newman on the final match of the season v Brentford ( 3-1 or 4-1??) The only thing I'll ever remember about an NP game is winning at home after a million years.
  15. Who mentioned Johnson other than you? The discussion was about about Manning's and NP's record not spending. The old LJ chat just indicates you need to move on from that . Oh, and by the way - how's the worst person in BCFC history getting on at Ipswich?
  16. At some point you may really shock people and say something positive or perhaps even relevant?
  17. It's not so black and white. If you genuinely think it's a case of "job done" please explain fully.
  18. I can't help but find my brain thinking that so many comments today seem made for a @Rudolf Hucker intervention.
  19. I don't think it's obvious. Genuinely- please explain his record this season? For the (my)record: win or lose what impressed me this season is that the team played for each other and fought to the end and win or lose, were imo, fit to wear the shirt. Trouble being that I genuinely think that Nige had reached the end of the road and was on his way out- one way or another. His health issues tipped the balance both for him and BCFC.
  20. Hold on ..... Surely you must work for Bristol Sport? Or are you just a new OTIB poster with a genuine opinion that should be taken at face value? I totally disagree with you but welcome to OTIB.
  21. Derby County 27 May 2016 8 October 2016 14 3 5 6 21.43 [83][108] OH Leuven 22 September 2017 3 February 2019 56 18 15 23 32.14 [110] Watford 6 December 2019 19 July 2020 22 7 5 10 31.82 [108][failed verification] Bristol City 24 February 2021 29 October 2023 131 42 32 57 32.0 And I will gain some negativity if, at the very least, he has the same record as Nige since 2016 but, of course, Liam won't last a full season here if he doesn't improve results and ends up with the same track record as NP.. What is it with you that you seem to think that NP won the world club championship with us??? It's like an obsession. He did a solid job, he addressed some major issues but was sacked with us in a worse League position than Johnson and Holden. But that hides the good things he did yet exposes the bad. Mann up.
