  1. Not now those pesky automatic (well, semi-automatic) turnstiles have been installed.
  2. Pouring with rain, a big drop in temperature. Unlikely to be a large travelling support based on this from the Walsall website ... Tickets are now on sale for the Saddlers' League One match against Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium on Saturday 6th October, kick-off 3.00pm. We have received an initial allocation of 75 seating tickets for the South Stand and 200 standing tickets for the visitors' terrace. Further tickets are available if required. I'm going to say 7,875. Remember, "Even if they play on the street, we'll still listen to them on Radio Bristol".
  3. I think that the term you're describing @RedM is 'break camp: ie. take down a tent or the tents of an encampment ready to leave'.
  4. ... and Marvellous Marvin is Mayor. Just sayin.
  5. I was speaking with a friend who coaches in their academy and asked how much involvement DC has in it. He said that DC is scheduled to meet with the academy coaching staff in January. "January?" Says I. "That seems a very long time away". My friend said that during the couple of years that he's been there, it'll be the first time that DC will have visited and met with them. Amazing!
  6. Rivalries aside, there was a dreadful accident yesterday morning in Yate in which a 26 year old father of two and a Rovers supporter died. I'm sure that all of us send our sincere condolences to Matt's family and friends. Rest easy, Matt. From The Post ... The man who died after the car he was driving collided with a tree and ploughed into two houses in Yate has been named locally as Matt Krekelaar. Matt was sadly pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened in Littledean, Yate, yesterday (October 1) morning. According to Avon and Somerset Police , Matt’s blue BMW struck a tree before smashing into nearby houses. The father-of-two, who is in his late 20s, was due to play golf with friends later the same day, according to a floral tribute left at the scene. Residents in Littledean, a cul-de-sac which is lined with garages and homes set back from the road, suggested Matt’s car travelled some 20 metres in the air before striking the houses. Sonia Mulcock, who was in her home at the time of the crash, said the collision sounded like a “bomb had exploded”. "I was in shock. It sounded like a huge explosion. I ran out and my neighbour's windows had been blown out, his back ones too,” she told Bristol Live on October 1. "Then I saw the other house and their entire front had gone. You could see their stairs. It was only after seeing their homes that I saw the car and realised someone was inside. “We waited for the ambulance but there was nothing they could do. I brought a woman into my house who had seen it all and gave her some tea.” The crash has shocked the community in Yate and left Matt’s young family devastated. Flowers have been left by loved ones at a spot near where the tragedy happened. One tribute spoke of the man’s two young daughters. “We have told your beautiful girls that you will be the brightest star in the sky,” it read. “Your memory will live on in them each and every day and you will forever be in (their) hearts. We will take care of them for you,” it added. Another, from a friend, spoke of the deceased man’s love of Bristol Rovers . I think to say I’m gutted would be an understatement. Heaven has gained another angel, taken too soon. “You sleep well, be sure to give us another three points, FTG.”
  7. “I would have taken the football special train to Sunderland but Parkway is closed and getting to Temple Meads is a fag and they’ve got those automated ticket barriers there which always confuse me and I’ve got a date with my sister in the evening ...”
  8. Will he be a tough leader or easy going? HardWare or SoftWare?
  9. 374 travelling supporters and only 153 replies on the match day thread on gashchat. Have they all lost interest?
  10. 374? Wow. Just wow. No doubt Bradford has electronic turnstiles which understandably limited the number of 15ers travelling.
  11. I think you'll find that its the new arenal they've built to steal a march on SL's plan for phase 2 of The Gate.
  12. I think that this is the post to which Bert refers ... bs20pirate Newbie Posts: 1 Posting Level Next Level in 24 posts 5 hours ago WeAreTheGas, Tilly's Thighs, Post by bs20pirate on 5 hours ago Hi all Newbie here but have been reading Gas chat for a while now. Just thought I would add my two pennies worth regards the new family stand as I and a mate of mine plus our kids have purchased season tickets in the stand. Yes I agree it’s not the best looking and it’s given my city mates even more amunition to wind us up but as for Match day experience for us as parents and the kids it was bloody brilliant! The view was great and the kids can’t wait to go to the next home game which is what it’s all about really.. We have been in the Southwest and Southstand for the last few seasons but they come nowhere near the experience we had on Saturday. I have never heard the kids get so involved with the singing! ( Big thanks to the Thanchers end for starting things off) We even managed to get a couple of pints indoors in the new east stand bar before the game which we have never managed before as the new Thatchers bar is always rammed.. I firmly believe this is temporary for a reason and if the club has built this stand just as a temporary measure to attract more families until something more permanent is announced then we are more than happy to sit in it. I don’t give a Toss what the city lads are saying and I should be the one who is worrying the most as I have paid to sit in the stand. As far as we are concerned the mem is looking the best it has ever looked and the club trying to attract younger fans is the way forward as they are the future of our club. I Agree it would better if it was nearer the east stand but before any petitions are started how about getting the views of the people who are sat in the stand 1st. FTG ?️?️
  13. Surely the railings at the front of this 'stand' will impair the view of anyone sitting in the first two rows? People sitting there will have to watch through bars.
  14. It was no doubt packed to the rafters canvas
  15. A canvas roof is in fact a safety feature. Anyone of average height, jumping up or even standing up in Row G (ie the back row) is likely to smack their head on that roof.
  16. There are always tickets available for Row M of that stand ...
  17. Have another look at the vid produced by the Plymouth guy. He shows the gates which clearly state 'Bristol Rugby'.
  18. "If, in their travels, anyone should come across a girder labelled 'Row M' please contact me directly".
  19. I suspect that you @Ivorguy are the only 'others' on this forum who 'find such views repugnant'. You are older than me for sure; I'm merely in my mid sixties. You hanker after those halcyon days of Atyeo, Bradford, leather football's, no segregation at grounds, going to Ashton Gate one week and Eastville the next, football rattles, rosettes, real butter, mum's homemade jam, rationing, barrage balloons, WWll ... those days weren't all bad, Ivor neither were they all good. I grew up in east Bristol and encountered lots of Rovers supporters long before the term 'gashead' had been coined. They weren't always happy encounters. I watched City and Rovers alternate Saturdays although for me there was only ever one team in Bristol. I never saw Geoff Bradford play but I did have the pleasure of watching John Atyeo. Aged about seven, walking away from my first derby match wearing my City rosette, an adult Rovers supporter unprovoked (I was only seven after all) tried to punch me in the stomach. Thankfully for me, he smashed his hand into the heavy wooden rattle I was holding, hurting only himself, not me. At that moment, for me, the die was cast. I am a very proud Bristolian and always will be; I am an avid football supporter but Bristol City is my only footballing love. I don't like the Rovers; I despise them and hope that they go bust. I respect your age and your different point of view, Ivor but you are not entitled to tell me and other forum members that our opinions are 'sad ... childish ... thuggish ...decidedly unpleasant ... uncalled for' just because they doesn't coincide with your views. CTID.
  20. "Pray for Rovers" would be more appropriate.
  21. I think that our self made billionaire owner may know what he's doing when it comes to finance. Shake the Lansdown Money Tree or Sheikh the Money Tree. Only one bears fruit.
  22. If you invert the number 9006, it's remains exactly the same: a shit attendance.
