Guardiola ball is not the way.
The way that has just won a treble and dominated English football since it begun.

Today was poor, but it needs to be tweaked and have the right players for it too work. All needs time.

The days of blood and thunder football are gone. Any successful team currently play a version of your “Guardiola ball”

Do they though? Do Liverpool play Guardiola ball or do they have their own identity?

The teams that get out of this league without parachute payments have to find their own way of playing because inevitably they don't have the best players in the league, they've been hoovered up. So they find a system that works, either for the players or they recruit to a plan

  2. Conway just cannot play in that position. He doesn't drop deep, he doesn't run the channels, he isn't quick or skillful enough to beat a man on his own, and he isn't strong enough to hold the ball up and bring in others into play. As such he ends up relying on scraps or a hopeful punt over the top. He has to play in a two, he excels when he can play close intricate football around the box and his partnership with Wells is where he's played his best football.

Managed to get a ticket for the England v Denmark game in Frankfurt. Fantastic.

Booked flights with Lufthansa from Bristol to Frankfurt direct. Lovely.

Lufthansa email me this morning to say both flights have been cancelled!!

What a bunch of *****, and what possible explanation can there be for cancelling flights to Germany during a major football tournament?

Don't know if others have experienced similar, or if there is an explanation? @Blagdon red

Bit stuck now as other options are going to result in more expense and taking three days leave, which I don't really have.

I'm going to a wedding near Frankfurt September next year and those flights were also just cancelled so the route being pulled makes sense

It's Tinnions judgement that put him on a pedestal and we all know what his eye for a player was during his management tenure

While I get Tinns isn't flavour of the month at the moment, I think this particular criticism is unfair.
Keogh, Orr, Russell, Brooker, resigning Carey, giving Lita and Skuse their chances as fully fledged first team players.

Granted there were a couple of high profile signings that didn't work out but nobody would have turned down the chance to sign Marcus Stewart and Michael Bridges in league one.

  5. I'll be honest I'm just apathetic to the whole thing at the moment. The club isn't on the same page as the fan base, any player who has any sort of ability to get the crowd off their feet is sold, I feel like I'm going out of a sense of obligation now rather than going to be entertained

  7. Jon, why did you decide to sack NP when over 90% of the fan base were behind him. I don't remember such a move ever taking place since I've been watching the team. A vast injury list was working against him yet results weren't bad.

Jon/Brian, NP claimed that members of the hierarchy were questioning Andy Kings inclusion in the side. Do you think that's appropriate.

Theres two for starters I'd want answered. Questions on the Scott funds, recruitment, does he really think this is a top 6 team, selling up, how he thinks we can improve when constantly selling our best players, past mistakes on allowing LJ and MA to run the FFP position into the ground, poor communication (interviews and fans forums long after the horse has bolted don't make up for this), the ONeills kit design/quality/contract/sales numbers/splat.

Someone give me his number and a podcast 😅

  8. Some City fan some rows back from me in S18 thought it appropriate to use the silence to make a hilarious joke to his mate in the seats in front - telling him to 'not blow his own trumpet'. To me that was more disrespectful than the Wednesday fans who clearly thought the end of the trumpet was the end of the silence and gave it a big 'come on Wednesday'. Mistakes happen. The City fan was wilful in making his funny funny joke

But according to the board we have at this moment in time a top 10 budget and a squad good enough for promotion. So when the new man comes in and we finish the season in say 12th place, is he fired for not delivering what the board feel is a very simple task of promotion as everything is in place to do so?

I think the board have put themselves in a dangerous position really. If they get the wrong man and we plummet down the table - which isn't beyond the realms of possibility in the Championship - then very quickly things are going to turn very toxic, moreso than it is now. If the team is a top 10 team then we the fans now expect top 10. We (the majority anyway) expected a top 10 finish under NP so this 'improved' manager has to achieve that. Playing front foot attacking football. Good luck

  10. Honestly they should just keep quiet because every time they put something out it's just fanning the flames, mostly because what they say doesn't stand up to scrutiny. We were a top 10 team before the injury crisis, I fully believe we would have been a top 10 team after the next 2 games. They've made their decision, we already know 'it's their club they do what they like', just shut up and find us a new manager

  11. Ok so the question from me here is based off this line that Tinns repeats. The head coach who comes in needs to be able to play the way WE want as a football club.

    Why.

No. Bring in a head coach with their own philosophy to how to compete at the top end of the table and be successful with that group of players. Why? Because they are head coaches and none of you lot on the board are. What happens if they come in and look at the squad and realise they can't extract that brand of football from them?  I'd bet my house that if we got promoted purely by playing long ball, horrible Warnock-esq football nobody at the top is going to give two flying ****s and they'll take all the congratulations and plaudits on their way to Anfield/Old Trafford etc next season.
If you want pretty, fast flowing, silky football maybe you shouldn't have sold Scott Semenyo and co.

One of the worst managerial performances in our history and some terrible signings. I remember being at Luton for the 5.0 and Swansea for the 7.1. Astonishing how they then end up running the football operations a decade or so later! May as well bring Osman and Millen back too!

Some cracking signings too in fairness. Keogh, Orr, Brooker, and put Lita straight in the team
