  1. Price rises of over 50% in some areas for Forest fans, with 17-21 price range scrapped as well, so young people in full time education have to pay adult prices. Their fan base are far from happy about it…

The dangers of promotion I guess!

Haha I should have predicted this thread would lead to a load of SL comments rather than WSL comments but thanks @JBFC II for rising above it with an explanation.

Does this mean lansdown can spent 40% of the mens/womens team combined on the womens team if he wants to ?

As far as I’m aware, although that rule may have changed.

I heard an interview with Karen Brady where she basically said that although the temptation is there to do just that, it won’t help the women’s game at all so West Ham refuse to live beyond their means

  3. As far as I'm aware, there's a salary cap which means top flight sides can spend 40% of their turnover on wages. That turnover is for the whole club though, so it would still be a huge amount for the WSL were we to do that.

The big issue is with the lack of revenue the womens game makes, spending huge money on wages etc would lead to big losses, which isn’t sustainable in the long term

Why can't I want us to play well all the time?

So I want us to play well but I don't want us to win?

    Bizarre post.

If you want us to play well all the time why are you never visible, saying anything positive, during a good performance?

And yet, when we are crap, like today, you’re commenting regularly, highlighting how poor it is.

    I’m intrigued

Tbh Rohl inherited a truly dreadful position @JBFC II

I've checked, 3 points 11 games. That is at that stage sub Rotherham territory, 0 wins..4 games without a goal, 1 goal in 7 etc.

We are talking record breaking bad..in some ways only way was up but in other ways they were so bad. Chansiri and tax was also an issue at one point.

Not doubting he’s done a decent job, and clearly has ability as a coach.

If we sacked Manning this afternoon, how would I feel if we appointed Rohl tomorrow though?

He hasn’t done enough in management yet for me to be certain he’d be an improvement on what we currently have

    Things like this

His background whilst similar in some regards to Mannings is far more decorative than Mannings.

    https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-wednesday/danny-rohl-sheffield-wednesday-retirement-red-bull-4568638

I doesn't take a genius to see the job he's done at Wednesday. Relegation certainties to them having a good chance of staying up. If he keeps Wednesday up then that will be a greater achievement than anything Manning has ever achieved.

Rohl likes to play an intense game. He understands the passion involved in football and he harnesses that whilst at the same time as having all the hallmarks of a modern day coach. He has a strong sense of belief in camaraderie and that collective belief that would suit our squad.

He's also not an AI bot. He comes accross as very likeable. He understands that fans are the heartbeat of football clubs. Quote from him from the Boro defeat "our support is premier league but our performance wasn't good enough today" you'd not hear Manning say anything like that.

A very slight worse record with a far inferior squad. Youre trying to compare apples with oranges mate. Imagine what he could do with our squad!

We all expected Wednesday to be like Rotherham yet here you are comparing them with us to suit a narrative.

His background is in assistant management and coaching, we’ve been down the route of bringing in good coaches and assistants many times before, when was the last time it worked?

If he keeps Wednesday up then he’s done a good job, but that hardly makes him the best candidate out there. I’ll be honest, he wouldn’t even be on my list never mind at the top of it. Right now we don’t need another brith young thing, since I’ve been supporting this football club employing ‘bright young coaches’ has been far less successful than experienced managers, I see no reason why he would be any different.

Not sure what he could do with our squad, being ‘likeable’ and calling a fan base ‘premier league quality’ sounds more like LJ jargon than actual ability at managing a side. Perhaps he’ll turn out to be the next Klopp, but if we sacked Manning there is no chance we should be going for someone so inexperienced in the professional game, it would be utterly pointless.

I have no narrative at all, my point is that in his few months of management he’s hardly set the world alight, if we do bring in a new manager as a fanbase surely we want someone with experience of managing? Not somebody with 12 wins in his managerial career?

Me too, I don’t mind bad jokes, just find it funny how people get upset so easily. It’s probably the sad life I lead and not believing everything is a conspiracy. Tinnion was  not a good manager but he does seem to know a good youngster. That’s going to get me a lot of abuse.

There’s a huge jump between being competent at running an academy and being competent at running a football club.

Tinnion has shown how large that jump is

I'd like a day out at Wembley. I'd be pleased we got to the play off final but I'd not consider it a success.

Of course I'd rather watch us win games but if the end result is achieving the same outcome as a team that finished midtable then it's not a success.

Imagine you giving the pre match team talk "right lads, the result doesn't matter today, we've achieved success by getting to the final, today is a free hit" 😄

    Success is relative though.

In 2007, heading in to the championship, success would have been viewed as a mid table finish. Nobody (including yourself I'm sure) went into that season thinking it would only be a success if we went up again.

It was the most successful season we've had since the very early 80s, maybe it didn't lead to anything but that's not exactly the point.

Anyway, we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. Let's hope you can see a successful season next year and we end up top!

Youre taking this conversation off in a different direction.

Staying in the premier league and earning an extra 100+ million is a success.

The Premier league is a different beast to the Championship.

But the reality is if you lose the Championship play off final the outcome is the same of finishing midtable, another season in the Championship.

    It's not though is it?

Would you rather we finished 15th this season or 4th but lost in the play offs? The answer is pretty obvious.

You said yourself, 'losing is not success', therefore if Luton do stay up, considering they've lost more than they've won (while not winning any competition) this season hasn't been a success in your book?

We would have gone down that season or the season after if he would have stayed. He didn't build a legacy here. The team he had built was not very good and things had turned toxic.

That was maybe poorly worded by me, what I meant was him getting us out of league one was a success, granted.

Not sure how you can come to that conclusion.

When he left he had us closer to 8th than relegation, things weren't as rosy as they were a few years earlier, but we weren't looking down the barrel of relegation by that stage.

Regardless of whatever happened by the end of his tenure, he's the best manager the clubs had since Alan Dicks, his success up until 2009 highlights that
