Losing is not a success in my opinion.

You can be content with what you have achieved but to consider losing to be a success is tinpot.

So the only successful managers are the ones who win the Premier League (or respective first divisions) then?

Would you say Rob Edwards has been a success at Luton?

He got the sack because he turned us into to a team that was going down. Losing 6 nil to Cardiff should have been the end of him here.

Losing a play off final isn't a success. Getting us into the Championship was granted.

A team that was going down?

When he was sacked we were 15th and 7 points clear of relegation with 9 games left. Our form wasn't great, but there was little chance of relegation.

In fact, if all you can say about his tenure here is that he was taking us to league one, that speaks volumes.

As for getting us promoted being 'granted', that's clearly rubbish. We'd spent the last 7 seasons in league one and had finished 9th the season before. Perhaps we were one of the favourites, but league one at that stage was known for having very few stand out sides. There was nothing granted whatsoever about us getting promotion, and nobody expected what followed the season after

I understand the Gas Girls are already promoted (as of last week's other results) and have sold over 1,000 tickets for their game at the Mem. Could this be a new rivalry in the making?

Meanwhile, in today's game against Spurs it is an imperative that we win. No other result is of any use. We simply cannot go without a victory, what with the remaining fixtures. I will hope that the girls will have it in them to produce the performance that they are capable of and emerge with renewed confidence. However, an adverse outcome will be a nail in the coffin, I fear.

Given that the other teams at the wrong end are not expected to have any fortune today, it may be that that we could do ourselves a huge favour in winning. I'll also hope that there is a big crowd too. It's getting late in the season and we need everything to go our way now.

    COYR!

We're still a fair way off this tbf.

Should City be relegated this season (which now looks inevitable) they'll be 2 divisions above rovers next season.

Would imagine Rovers will be pushing for promotion to the 3rd tier before long, but the gap then increases hugely. They'll need a huge increase in funding and infrastructure to get near the level of even the top half of tier 3, never mind the championship

  4. Irony being St George was a 3rd Century Turk who is unlikely to have ever visited the UK.

His 'cross' was only added to the Royal Standard in 1348 and only became incorporated into the flag of Britain in the early 17th century.

It's only very recently that it's been viewed in such a patriotic way outside of military use

Richard Foster? There’s a name I’d banished to the recesses of my mind!

Have weirdly semi-fond memories of him.

I realise he was useless, but his uselessness made him a favourite in my friend group at the time...

Have a mate who supports Newcastle. Texted me today as it's 14 years since Bristol City 2-2 Newcastle (Maynard screamer). I had a look at the BBC match report from the time: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/8572371.stm

And I had a look at the table:

We're 1 point better off today, and 2 places better off. Some progress in 14 years. So depressing.

Just looking at Scunthorpe there is a real reminder of how bad things have been for others

Why? He doesn't want to sit on the bench with splinters in his ar53. Maybe England doesn't bother him. Not everyone has to be a super patriot.

Which is exactly what's happened. He seems happy about that.

I recall Paul Scholes quit aged 29 because he was fed up with being treated badly. And Chris Sutton turned down England B.

It’s not about being a super patriot, it’s about realising how fortunate he is to be in a position to play for his country.

If he doesn’t want to play for England, fine, I can’t agree with that as a stance but don’t go and make a scene about it.

Sitting on the bench for England is more than the vast, vast majority of professionals get to do. He should be fighting for a place in the team, not sulking off because he’s not an automatic starter

He's the leader of his own fan club that guy. Wouldn't call him up ever again.

Playing for England should be the peak of a players career, refusing a call up is not on in my opinion.

If he doesn't want to play for his country, the ignore him, there are plenty of solid options who can take his place

Do you know, the most surprising and actually quite disappointing thing about those figures is that we only have 973 season ticket holders between the age of 19 and 24!!
That really doesn’t seem like a lot.
When I was a ‘young adult’ my Saturdays were 100% all about City. And there seemed to be lots of people of my age at that time.
This really doesn’t seem like very many, in what would usually be an age group likely to be the more ‘boisterous’ and likely to create atmosphere.

You have to remember a lot of people that age are away at University/have fledged the nest, so a season ticket won’t be viable.

I squeeze into the top part of that bracket and used to go with 5 friends to City every week with season tickets between 07-18, none of us have a season ticket any more.

It’s for a variety of reasons, people moving away, playing football taking priority etc but it speaks volumes about the attractiveness of the club at the minute. I’d rather spend 400 quid on a few away games a season and properly enjoy a day out with mates now, which is a sad reality

No way has it been at less than 60%.

    Maybe last Sunday.

I was told it was at around 60% a month back, figured Sunday would have dropped that number.

Regardless, it's not great at all to look at, the club had to do something to address it

Only if you **** off to the upper lansdown

I mean, it is the family section and gives a very good view of the pitch.

When you compare to other clubs in the league it's not bad at all (£200 at Middlesbrough, for example). Realistically, this keeps cheap season tickets for u12s while also hopefully making the South Stand a bit more than 60% full next season

So youll get a load of kids who wont go to games now instead of 5/6/10 times a season. Genius

To be fair, kids can still get a season ticket for 65 quid, with a free shirt, in a different part of the ground. I would imagine there will be a very small negative affect on the number of kids getting a season ticket.

People complain constantly about the number of empty seats in the south stand, this is one way to address that

How are the club (a Community Club let us not forget) justifying a 10% increase for those in the cheapest seats and a near 50% increase for kids with the current cost of living crisis?  Nothing in the email. Just pretending it’s not happening?

As far as I'm aware it's because of the number of people buying u12 Season Tickets in the South Stand and then not using them.

The South Stand has apparently been at less than 60% capacity this season despite being 'sold out' every match. This is the best way the club could think of to change that

It’s a about 5 miles further than we travelled to Ipswich last week for a game that was televised on Sky and they were taking the piss out of us for taking a load more than THAT. 🤣

Reckon we took more to hull back in 2013 midweek on sky when we'd already been relegated.

If it wasn't for the fact that they believe they're some huge club it would be acceptable...
