  1. We were the better team for 20, then Senegal next 15, then us. So, against the run of play at that point…but not overall.
  2. Not sure we look a shambles! We were sloppy though We just tried to keep forcing it through the eye of a needle. Patience, or a bit of something different. As a CB or DM, if you know they are gonna play along the deck into feet…then you can go tight. What you need occasionally is to mix it, turn one around the corner. Got to realise teams aren’t mugs at this level, so it sometimes takes a bit of skill. And that’s what happened, Foden flick…was all it took. Bellingham-Gerrard bursting through and a good finish with his wrong foot from Henderson. Then it’s all us, and Bellingham again…what a boy…and it’s 2-0. At this level we need to care for the ball, not worry about trying to force it. Even if it’s not pretty. It’s about winning.
  3. Re selection tonight, no arguments from me. All good enough individually, and I think they each give different options. Looking forward to the game, Senegal no mugs, and I think we need to be mindful of their athleticism and physique.
  4. Yep remember those MLS ones in the late 70s. Always liked that kind of concept, much more skill based.
  5. How about, player goes to his run-up position, keeper on his line…ref blows whistle, player and keeper can start their movement. Would make it more fun. Maybe?
  6. I thought they weren’t allowed to break their run. And then he celebrates….
  7. Lewandoski forces the keeper off his line with the stutter. Shouldn’t get a second chance. I don’t.
  8. I dunno. Got to say I’m not enjoying the comms either. Too much pre-set narrative about certain players…watch the game, tell us what’s happening (broadly), but stop blowing smoke up players arses about what they are capable of.
  9. I certainly don’t believe we offered him £30k p.w. According to someone I know the club knew in summer of 2019 that he wouldn’t extend his 4 year deal (he was halfway through at that point). Combo of us wanted too much to get other clubs to nibble. We ended up getting bugger all. That part is a fault of the club not the player
  10. No, I just think there was more in him. (for info, I watched him a fair bit for Angers in the season he replaced Kodjia and I thought he was someone we should be interested in, so I though he had different parts to his game that we didn’t see) His goals record (individually) was decent enough, but I also thought the lack of partnership meant his goals were a bit solitary, unlike say last season where WSM all contributed. I also think that with a crosser like Eliasson, he really should have benefitted more. That reluctance to get across his man was frustrating…especially when you see the quality of his header in the World Cup. My no means do I think he was crap, but I thought we could’ve got more out of him.
  11. Great finish…did he even look up? (edit…nope…the goals don’t move)
  12. He was the only player offered a contract…not sure he wasn’t wanted! FWIW I totally get the bit about how hard it can be to play up top, but there were many games before those last 6 months where I thought Fam went through the motions. For me he was a player who played differently when his place was under threat.
  13. That goal is why I failed Physics O Level
  14. They are thinking of revisiting and going groups of 4 in 2026
  15. The toughest group too, according to FIFA rankings, with only 15 place between “best and worst” teams.
  16. Coates showing his Liverpool form there!
