  1. It is bad, but the big figure missing from the accounts (legitimately missing) is how much we’ve offset the losses by using Covid allowances, e.g. lost revenue due to no crowds, lost transfer income (“add-backs”). I’m taking the notes into the accounts to take it that these allowances are significant enough to cover the current FFP cycle’s (to May 2023) gap to meet compliance. We know the minimum is £2.5m + £5m (£5m + £5m halved). City might argue there was even more lost revenue from cancelled gigs etc. We would fall into SCMP rules: https://www.financialfairplay.co.uk/scmp.php which is effectively wages as a percentage of turnover. The only leeway is down to players signed under historic contracts. Yep, although Harry is saying we won’t see those wages off of the accounts until the season after’s accounts, next season’s “budgets” will be based on those players not being here (unless they re-sign). Haven’t listened for a few weeks, but it’s good value / entertaining.
  2. Moore is still our player, so suspect not him. Bakinson had such little asset value left it could be a smidge of that, assuming Wednesday paid bugger all. Amortisation - yep, about £6m.
  3. That’s based on those OOC not signing and amortisation becoming tiny, if we only sign freebies. All subject to change. I reckon the impairment is Palmer, brought forward into last year.
  4. It’s not the financials themselves Rob, it’s the impact of them on the manager. The main one being, minimal / little scope to change (improve) the playing squad, therefore relying on Academy to pad out the first team. The other impact is cannot trade, because to move on a player like Kalas is likely to cost us. That’s because of the market now versus when we bought during boom-time! I haven’t read, just plugged the numbers into my spreadsheet, and using the standard EFL Covid allowances and FFP allowances (I haven’t looked at these in detail), I have us: cycle to May 2022 - fully compliant (well inside the £39m) guesstimate to end of May 2023 - about £6m over - and I guess that’s where the add-backs will come in The “other costs” figure continues to rise - almost £16m, we have to improve the ratio of every £1 increase in income cant cost so much.
  5. Hopefully a goal helps with settling into the squad (if he’s not already)
  6. I still think fans are too ready to jump to “downed tools” theories, in the same way as they use “lost the dressing room” theory for managers. Players are inconsistent in the main, plus the dynamic of fitness, means this can exaggerate performance levels both ways. He’s come back from a broken shin / shin splints, into a team struggling for consistency in itself, whilst starting some, sub in others. Not conducive to consistent individual performances is it?
  7. Maybe we’ve impaired all player contracts formally, creating that “missing” £5/6m loss.
  8. It’s not about having a gambling problem, just that it’s against the rules as Spud shows below.
  9. I’m not an accountant but the accounts we are waiting on are up to 31st May 2022. Timeline: March 2022 - projected accounts for 21/22 together with prior year actuals from accounts in FFP return format May 2022 - end of 21/22’s accounts, plus a period of time to formalise them and send to auditors which we believe has all been done tbc - publish accounts February 2023 - deadline for publishing accounts March 2023 - projected accounts for 22/23 together with prior year actuals from accounts in FFP return format During this period before release, we know the club have been working with EFL. I suspect we’ve started to formalise the projections and update the EFL with them, and confirmed that the FFP period to 31st May 2022 was compliant. I expect our CFO / team to have the skills to have made accurate projections back in March. There was nothing “major” that happened to impact those estimates in the intervening period. We will have continued talks re how much we were looking to “allow” for Covid over the previous accounting periods, but the only time those really start to impact upon FFP compliance is when we submit our next set of projections in March 2023. Those Covid allowances are for the EFL, not the annual accounts, so I don’t see the non-production of our accounts for last season being linked to FFP compliance or the process of calculating “add-backs”. If we have added anything into the accounts by way of £s (e.g. impaired player asset values) or in the notes (for transparency), that is purely our right as a business. The accounts don’t need signing off by the EFL. All the EFL are going to do is await our return in March (having worked with us throughout anyway) and either accept our allowances or not. I can only assume that our allowances bring us under £39m, by how much only becomes an issue for future year’s compliance. So if accepted, we move on. If not, how much do the EFL agree with? Is that enough to comply with £39m?
  10. @Sheltons Armythis is that black sock I mentioned in an earlier post.
  11. Yep, we had some turgid games, where non-technical/tactical England were bossed by technical/tactical opposition.
  12. Cough, cough, Daniel Sturridge!
  13. He got caught betting on Bristol City not to get a penalty! 232 times!

    Ronaldo

I watched the 2 min clip this morning. I wondered what the fuss was all about. Seemed like Morgan was loading bullets, but Ronaldo was fairly sensible in his responses. If the rest of the interview is like this it will then it will feel like it was hyped-up to cover up a pretty boring interview.
  15. Put it this way, last season (when we got to see most games streamed) I never saw us as typical “pass it for passing’s sake” academy team, we played high tempo, quite scruffy at times, football. But it was effective, and we pinched balls high up or in midfield. Which I guess tried to mirror the first team. Back three also, but we have playing a back three in the academy for a little while. My only issue is what happens when first team move away from a back three, do Academy move with them? Are our Academy players well-rounded? I dunno.
