  1. One other point, I guess you need to do the Stoke approach if you’ve got homegrown players that you’ve sold for less than you expected, who of course you can’t impair because they have no value in the books.
  2. Ah, yes, so they did….ta. Let’s hope we see this detail in ours. Its gonna completely screw my amortisation spreadsheet!!
  3. Interesting comments re back 3 and front 2…which was the point the YouTube feed stopped last night for me. If nothing else it still highlights that we can’t evolve the squad as quickly as Nige would like and are “making do”. Not one poster on OTIB has Vyner in their preferred starting line-up, yet he’s been an ever present in the league. And he’s generally done ok too. Combo of having talkers like Naismith and Klose alongside him has helped too I’m sure.
  4. Stoke was more of an impairment / new valuation model, than Forest’s lost transfer revenue. I’m no accountant, and I guess there are pros and cons to each approach. Re the Stoke method, revaluing the assets down would create a loss in the books but allows them to write off that loss for covid. It means should they sell those players, they gain the benefit of any fee being taken against a new and lower book value, meaning future year’s transfer profit could be more. With Forest’s method it’s not changing the current book value of any players, so any sales in future will be against the existing amortisation profile. Arghhh, swings and roundabouts i guess.
  5. I agree…will be interesting how we communicate this in the books and the summary to fans. Suggests we’ve gone more down the Forest route.
  6. Because last season he was the “ball presser” and Martin the “lane stopper”, ie Martin more positional in the press, stopping balls going into midfield, Semenyo haring around whilst Martin adjusted around him. No Martin alongside him this season, means a different pressing set-up and roles. If you have Wells or Conway alongside you, you can work together to split the times you have to perform each specific role, so at times Antoine is now stopping lanes by his positions, and not having to hare around. That’s my view.
  7. Indeed he is!! I’ve seen more of JKL than JL, but I suspect Low is ahead, due to age / physical stature. FWIW I wonder if Araoye is ahead of Low, and he’s still 17. He has an athletic build, a bit like Lloyd Kelly. I guess any of the three might find themselves with a place on the bench if illness is to one of the 3 available CBs, suspect Tanner or Pring would come in first.
  8. Nige making references in both his media interview and FF to: 1) we don’t have a big and strong team, so struggle against big and strong teams - which Swansea aren’t 2) Swansea susceptible to counter attack So for me this is a game to be patient, we need to be good at getting back into shape if we can’t pinch the ball high up, and spring from there. Think Weimann comes back in, behind any 2 from 4….I’d go Conway / Wells personally….to exploit them on the counter.
  9. I suspect tentative discussions have taken place to see each other’s opening gambits…and that is possibly informing a direction of travel that means we will look elsewhere in the market next summer, ie the current players want too much and the club feel they can better value elsewhere. Obviously both sides have room to compromise if they want.
  10. Was all in regards to a Q re loans. Said he sent him back to ManU as his attitude was crap. Also said re Harry Kane “he didn’t play, well, he did play, but the players weren’t having him”…either meaning he wasn’t good enough, or his attitude wasn’t good too.
  11. Jon has found / manufactured his niche in Bristol Sport…that is Fever Pitch. What should happen next is that he should be replaced as Chairman, but that will never happen whilst it’s Steve’s money that’s been invested at the club. Jon isn’t a Chairman…only in name. He certainly won’t become CEO. I’ll eat my hat if that happens. Normally he’d be one of the speakers at these types of event. His absence shows how good a team we have, such a shame it’s being broken up.
  12. Do you think they will be transparent in the accounts or the summary they put out in terms of the add-backs?
  13. From the FF thread, that was around the time my feed stopped. Hope they put a recording up.
  14. If you had someone on £20k p.w, who you wouldn’t want to pay more than £15k p.w for their next contract, and initial talks didn’t conclude a deal…you can see why Nige is now waiting to see what happens. By January he will start to get a feel for other options and their contract situation…and maybe look elsewhere instead. There’s probably a point in time where balance starts to shift.
  15. Might be a couple of players now getting a bit anxious if they’ve not actually been offered anything…keeping them on their toes.
  16. Our next task is where is that £5m come from that we didn’t have in our estimates!!! ??? All will become clear in the next couple of weeks
  17. Just listening to the FF, I find it refreshing to hear Nige say he won’t waste money. My thoughts are always, can we bring in a player / enough players to make that big a difference needed to really move us forward (versus the cost). The answer is probably no.
  18. Yeah, just cut out for me, at about Q15, ta @And Its Smith. Hopefully they will put up again later this evening.
  19. As we rebuild / evolve it’s one big compromise really….because we can’t buy our way out of it.
  20. Watching on YouTube about 15-20 mins behind live. 130 PL players on loan at the 72 EFL clubs, costing over £30m!
  21. Elegant right sided CB, with what appears to be maturity beyond’s his years. Guessing he’s 17 now, having made his u23 (as it was then) as a 16 year old. Comfy on the ball but defends well.
  22. Seems that a £38m loss down to circa £28m loss is higher than my estimates, but transfer add back is saving us. Hope the accounts give a good break down of what we have managed to add-back and in which years.
  23. According to OS, Tins is replacing him. Might just be to keep players away from any illness floating around the H&C…RG, NP and BT are expendable ???
