  1. Sorry, ridiculous statement imho. How about we look at the goal as a collective. It’s views like yours that if you were manager would destroy a players confidence, stop them expressing themselves, etc. It’s a helluva finish too, shit happens.
  2. Tinnion massively involved. I’m not sure I saw him touch the ball, other than to take a throw-in. I’m glad I’ve got to see him in a City first team shirt. He’s had the battle back from a big knee op (not sure exactly what he did, not ACL though), and fair play to Nige / Dave for keeping him motivated, selecting him on the bench and having the faith in him to bring him on late on. Lets hope we see him some more at some point so we can see whether he’s good enough. Would be a shame to see him leave w/o having seen him. Got to stand a chance of getting another year….don’t you think?
  3. That’s kind of how I look at things. We can’t afford to have players like Tomas Kalas across each defensive position, we are having to “make do”, being frugal with our ongoings. That means you have to make do, have a few sub-optimal players, squad players if you like. Zak has been a bit unfortunate. Started the season at RB hopefully looking to make that “his position”. I actually thought he did fine there, but a change of system has meant he’s had to play in the back three. I don’t think he’s physical enough to play there, and I don’t see him overcoming that. Like Taylor Moore, neither appear to have that in their locker…and you need it to play centre-back at Champ level. He offers us versatility too. He offers that versatility on the cheap too. If we can improve on him, then fine (within the financial constraints)…just like any player, but we are so keen to label a player “league one”, Zak has now played 100 games at this level. He may not be the best player in our squad, but posters are keen to pick up any mistake, very few credit him when he does good things. Also, let’s not forget most teams in our division have players that make up the squad who aren’t as good as the first choice eleven, but without them, you’re a bit stuffed when there are injuries.
  4. No we can’t. We haven’t broken FFP, nor will we for the cycle ending 2021/22 (this season). We could be over in the cycle ending 2022/23, but we have 9, 12, 15 months to clear what is likely to be a small amount over £39m. Certainly not minus 9….nowhere near that.
  5. It’s called recognising that a rebuild is going on, and showing patience. It’s about recognising there will be bumps in the road, disappointing results and performances, whilst not being dragged into seeing just negatives because of results and performances. Imagine we’d sacked Nige in Oct / Nov like quite a few wanted, or thought should happen even if they didn’t want that to happen per se. (I know you know that)
  6. Taylor Moore - 90mins at RCB3 in a 2-0 win at home to Motherwell Sam Pearson - 63mins at RW in a 0-1 defeat at Kilmarnock Janneh - 15mins as sub in a 1-1 draw at Real Wimbledon Bakinson - 90mins in a 0-1 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday O.Edwards - 7mins as sub in a 1-1 draw at home to Swindon (0-1 down when he came on and down to 10 men, a few mins late it was 9 men)
  7. And recruit youngsters too, good youngsters. By all means the odd Matty James, Timm Klose, but need to keep wage bill down and youngsters allow that. Note: 14 points clear.
  8. I’m gonna be picky here, selective if you like. I really don’t think last season counts…it was preparation for this season, it was about getting it over and done with so the rebuild could start. It couldn’t start with the old building in place, it had to be demolished in the summer. We are starting to see what an experienced manager can bring to a rebuild.
  9. Was brilliant today. Scott good too.
  10. Nige is clever….hates being on the touchline, has just worked out if he keeps slagging off the officials, he can go back upstairs! ?
  11. It seems the more choice he has the worse he gets.
  12. Forgot to add, another 26 minutes for Joe Williams, no need to rush him. But, boy he looks to have the lot.
  13. He’s got a full week to get any post-match stiffness out of his legs. That’s handy.
  14. …a nice safe finish. As someone said to me this week, we’ve not been in the bottom 6 all season, we are 13 points clear of Peterborough (0-0 at home v Sheff Utd at h-t) at the mo. We aren’t really looking over our shoulder (imho). Our performances are improving, the development of Antoine, Han-Noah, Alex and Cam is phenomenal really. Two of them having to play in the cauldron of a Championship midfield, another playing all over the pitch, but now being asked to play in a position where one mistake costs you, the other scoring, assisting for fun since his injury return. We are working on sorting the finances too. We aren’t risking that with panic buys in January. I’m as content as one can be after giving up 2 points with 95th minute equaliser. The juggernaut has been turned around, but it takes time to accelerate.
  15. That little bit of ruthlessness with our final pass is just holding us back at the mo’. Such a shame. I think some of that comes from tiredness. A 4th sub today would’ve come in very handy.
  16. Jens Hegeler v2.0…but the upgraded version who will put his body on the line. V.impressive debut. Kalas is a great RCB3, he played really well today.
  17. Ta, I was still shouting to pass it or shoot.
  18. Saw on Twitter than Oxford had an 11 goal difference swing on Sunderland today.
  19. We defended set-pieces well today too. We just lost a little bit of shape in the opening 15 mins of the second half, they pinned Weimann, so he couldn’t join the press, and did the same with O’Dowda, forcing him deeper, thus allowing the side CBs to progress the ball. We sorted it with the sub (although initialled went Weimann RWB, but a few ins late he swapped with Scott), and were pretty comfy after that. We got our goal and looked to have got the deserved win…hold my beer, Riis Jacobsen. A fine volley. Archer very impressive for them….looked like Maynard, played like him too.
  20. Paraphrased, Quantuma are far too bullish, and not representing what is actually going on.
  21. A few concentration issues first half, but another good game. Was it a foul on him? Nige said so, but I couldn’t tell.
  22. Ref was generally decent, but Semenyo’s was a penalty all day long, cuts across defender, who leans in, tangles legs. Can’t be anything else.
  23. In my notes, I wrote that Martin looked tired after 74 and Semenyo 76. Semenyo had enough left to get his goal, but i do think we were less able to close down their side CBs. Likewise, Kalas and Pring started no,bing as their forwards tired too. Minus 3 for the 2pts gained at QPR and 1pt at Hull.
  24. Hi Mortis, good to see you posting. Hope you're well, but hope we are celebrating, not you, later!
