  1. Last time I looked he was on the bench….v Luton (a), two days ago. ? Yeah, we’ve had some injuries, I’d say that it’s still a big improvement on last season. Although Weimann’s injury was different, his availability has been remarkable. So has Chris Martin and Callum O’Dowda’s who were both long term injuries last season. O’Dowda had a contact injury 1st game but that’s different. I was worried that some players might not ever recover, e.g. permanent damage. Its really difficult to judge from the outside looking in though, hence why I wasn’t overly critical of Rolls. Paddy Orme admitted “they” cocked up pre-season summer 2020 though. I don’t disagree really Jon, although I’m probably a bit more lenient in my view. Was chatting to someone last night, and trying to make a case that when you have no money, the choices are harder. Its a bad analogy, but I likened it to buying my first cars. I didn’t have much money, I ended up buying an “S” Reg Fiesta, that’s S Reg first time around!! I bought it off someone I knew, I thought that would be safe. It was a bit crap, full of rust, and didn’t start on cold / damp mornings. What I really wanted, was something reliable, but for the money I had, I couldn’t afford that. It wasn’t til many years later I started to be able to buy reliable cars, they cost 10-12x as much as that first car. Perversely they were cheaper to run as well. Looking for free transfers is a gamble. We liked the look of Olosunde (23) in the summer, who went to Preston. Versatile, RB, RWB, right up our street. Shit happens! We do need to execute better, I accept that. But I think it’s partly indicative of where we are financially too.
  2. Misery guts ??? There was a time when we’d all be celebrating a cross, just one cross. ???
  3. It’s a point I’ve also made. In this particular climate going down and rebuilding is a poor option….there are some tasty teams in Lg1…although I sense some casualties in the summer for those who’ve gambled on getting into the 3 promo places. Some may have to cut back massively as a result.
  4. It’s happened before with Massengo, probably others.
  5. I like it too….but, Hold my beer! I thought I’d just give you the simpler version initially. You can see the full distribution in this one. Credit to Peter Loehmann, a Danish Sheffield Wednesday fan. He is a whizz with this stuff.
  6. Quantuma will do well to get any football business after this if it all goes pear shaped. In fact their whole business could suffer I guess.
  7. I was flabbergasted watching it back last night!
  8. He played a full season at Basel in 20/21. So he’s missed 6 months admittedly, but no recurrence since returning post-Covid break. Fingers crossed. Assuming wages won’t be that high….can see a 6+12 offer being made. Buys us time til the summer.
  9. Who played in a World Cup, both cricket and football? Allegedly Sir IVA Richards played in a football WC Qualifier for Antingua, and of course cricket WC for West Indies. @BS4 on Tour... any idea if this is actually true?
  10. I wanted to become DaveF but some other bastard had it first ?
  11. Morris left them in the shit. He bailed at a bad time, the worst time.
  12. Our recent defending had certainly brought tears!
  13. Done his stats: Aerially dominant intercepts rather than tackles mote than capable with the ball at his feet. on the Louis Britton thread I also posted a table comparing Swiss Super-league with Championship. Basel are probably a mid-table / top-half team.
  14. Statistically, The Dark Destroyer is the worst chaser of all episodes in 2021. Mark Labatt - The Beast , was the best. Lincoln?
  15. @And Its Smith was previously Red Dave.
  16. I cheated…I saw your post, then quickly added mine. I’m ashamed! ?
  17. @ExiledAjax you might like these. Not surprising we are 16th!
  18. Would love to know the source of some of his stats / facts, because some don’t tie up with the ones I look at.
  19. You are probably right. The fact that the Irish League doesn’t feature on this list of leagues yet Lg2 does, probably gives added weight too. I use this when looking at the relative strengths of players in other leagues. Seen a few comments that Timm Klose is past it because his performances following his return from a bad injury at Norwich in 19/20 weren’t that great. But, you have to look at Norwich, they were a struggling PL team at the time, so you have to factor in that. Then he spends a season at Basel (20/21). Basel finish 2nd in the Swiss top flight, albeit miles behind Young Boys, so how does the Swiss League compare to the Championship? A top team in Switzerland is probably mid-table (just top-half) in the Champ. So looking at that, signing Klose has some merits, as we are a bottom half Championship side. The bigger questions are his fitness, readiness, etc. His height and experience woukd be of use to us at the mo’ too. We can be too scientific on this, but its a useful way of looking at things.
  20. I wonder how much conversation re a signing is asking the player how they think they will fit in, what they will bring, what they know about the squad, system, etc.
  21. Chris Martin has done just as good a job defensively. Defends the near post zone on corners v.effectively. It is only in recent games that we’ve started to concede. Until mid-December we were good. Analysis bears this out. Although god knows why he was positioned where he was for Luton’s winner! What has changed: Martin not being on the pitch for some of those goals O’Leary replacing Bentley no Baker / Atkinson Debate, discuss? I don’t really miss Diedhiou.
