  1. To be fair it was a hardly a goal saving tackle but a standard bit of tracking a runner and he slid the ball out of play. I’d expect him to do that without much thinking. If we are considering this type of play as worthy of such plaudits then I think we are being massively generous. FWIW I thought he was ok today, some decent bits but spells of the game passing him by. Some good crosses that threatened, one ball nipped away from Thompson. I’d probably give him between a 6.0 and a 6.5 out of 10 (I don’t like giving halves though). For context (not doing halves for anyone else): Bents 7, Tanner 7, Kalas 6, Atkinson 6, Pring 6, Williams 8, James 7, King 5, O’Dowda 6 and a bit, Weimann 5, Martin 7….Scott 6. Its about opinions. I think he gets some unfair stick on here, like on Wednesday, but I think some also give him a easy time and he lives off Norwich a bit too much. I really hope Nige gets more out of him. He’s just coming back from injury. Maybe we will see that after the international break.
  2. Low played 90 in a 1-1 draw v Borehamwood (Harper on the bench. Towler played 90 in a 6-0 win v Dover to go top. Moore played 90 and picked up a yellow in a 2-0 win v Motherwell as Hearts go top.
  3. He couldn’t run down the touchline today, his new application of Just for Men would’ve run.
  4. He plays in a similar style, obviously nowhere near the level. Yep, a fair few of us thought he was exactly the signing we needed last season, such a shame he got injured. Massive boost to get through 90 mins today…for him and us.
  5. People say we don’t work the keeper enough, we did today. Yep, 3 saves from Martin in second half iirc. xG fairly representative. They scored two worldies.
  6. Very good comms / insight. Not biased either.
  7. Tactically George is getting exposed, it’s not his fault. In a 442 like today, we must be able to shift two banks of four across the pitch and if they cross, it’s touchline crosses, rather than close to the 18 yard line crosses. We do allow switches too easily. Its difficult because we are trying to keep two up top, but at some point we are gonna have to accept that either Kalas allows George do give him less close protection or we allow easy crosses in.
  8. Had three headers saved in the second half too.
  9. Bears last night… …Flyers tonight???
  10. All-action….exactly what we need / needed. Think I’d be happy to see him playing the Brownhill-role when Massengo back…links well with Tanner too. Huge bonus he was fit to start, even bigger bonus was to get 90 out of him.
  11. Thought he had a mixed first half, but was really good second half. Could’ve easily had a hat-trick today. He’s quite quick when he gets moving ?
  12. better from him, but still presses 5 yards from his man....got to impose himself more....like he did when nipping it away from Thompson. too much time watching the ball be passed around him. He's been unlucky with two crosses.
  13. 1st half summary: Slow start, but eventually got our pressing shape and dealt with their opposite runners (one short, one long), started to see them struggle to play out and then they scored. Fought back well, good pressure with a few corners after good build-up, and we equalise. Another good spell of building led to going ahead, but Szmodics (off you - not #feelingsupersonicgivemesammieszmodics) has scored two goals. Just got to keep concentrating, they are here for the taking - they probably feel the same. Pring mixed, looking good getting forward, but positionally not great at LB. James and Williams good, King very quiet.
  14. ...and then during the game, the bias + or - to certain players is amazing. One players bad touch pounced upon, another ooooh that was unlucky. Its why I tune out of the MDT during the play, and watch the game. Its worth reading back 20-30 pages on a Sunday or Monday, and picking out the bias.
  15. I love it when they make comments during the game then find out they listened to bbcrb.
  16. Got pace, athleticism, gets his head up. Good signs. Settled pretty quickly. Hopefully have Williams in front of him today, they started to link well first 15-20 mins of second half, getting Tanner on the outside.
  17. Rather than predict poor performances from certain players before the game even starts, why don’t we actually just watch how they play. Its a good eleven. There is no reason for it to not perform based on one or two player’s selections.
  18. Glad to see King back alongside James….they know each other’s game well, and know when to go, when to sit. King really good at offering passing angles to the full-backs too. I’m assuming 442, Williams and O’Dowda wide.
  19. Awful mistake by Ream for their equaliser, then Cov all over them.
  20. Martin is not an aerial target man, he’s 5’10” not 6’3”….but is a target chest down where he can use his frame (big arse) to hold his marker off. Martin is at his best when he gets runners around him. Clever touches, layoffs. We didn’t do that on Wednesday, too often our attacks were from too far away from Martin and Weimann. That is an area to improve. Both Williams and James are players that like to get close, Scott too. Sometimes a player can play poorly themselves, sometimes it’s because of what’s happening around him. Wednesday was a bit of both imho. Hes been a bit in and out the last few games. I suspect there might be some interesting reactions on OTIB at 2pm when the teamsheet is announced.
  21. McPhail - such a classy centre back. ??????
